28: Chapter 28 God's Mercy
In the long stream, thousands of naked women were washing their bodies and souls.
Having stayed in the dungeons of the Goblin for too long, they were not yet accustomed to the daylight upon seeing the sun again. They could only place their hands on their foreheads to block the light, while using the other hand to scrub away the thick grime and large, creamy-yellow patches on their bodies.
The water beneath them quickly changed color. At the end of the stream, countless trickles of wastewater gathered together, dyeing the surface a dense, grayish-brown.
Chu Xingyang looked at the Goblin king kneeling before him and said indifferently, "Bring out the best cloth from your treasury, cut it into appropriate sizes, and let these women cover their bodies."
The Goblin king immediately led his subordinates to comply.
The women, having been ravaged repeatedly, seemed to have lost their sense of feminine shame. After washing, they showed no urgency to cover themselves, merely accepting the freshly cut cloth from the Goblin with a numb expression and slowly wrapping it around their bodies.
Almost all the women had finished washing their bodies, save for the Saintess, who was still scrubbing every inch of her skin with force, wishing she could strip away all the memories left on her by the Goblin. Her skin, which had not seen sunlight for years, was already pale and fragile; under her forceful scratching, large red welts and blood spots soon began to ooze.
Chu Xingyang frowned, "That is enough. You have already washed yourself clean enough."
The Saintess covered her face and wept, "Great Deity Xingyang, it should not be like this. As a Saintess, I failed to preserve my chastity. Having become a defiled person, I truly have no face to see the God."
Even though she had prayed for the God's salvation countless times, now that the deity had truly descended, she felt exceptionally ashamed, terrified, and uneasy.
Several women who had been imprisoned in the same dungeon gathered around, placing their palms on the Saintess's back, silently comforting her.
Chu Xingyang walked over, personally wrapped her body with the cloth, and said gently, "You are not defiled. Moreover, you were all created by me; no one would ever despise their own people."
After speaking, he picked up the Saintess, flew into mid-air, and shouted to all the women, "In a moment, you will be lifted into the air and will soon fly with me to the capital of the Rising Sun Alliance. I know many of you are pregnant, or even about to give birth. But do not panic; there are already plenty of doctors waiting in the capital."
As soon as he finished speaking, the bodies of over a thousand women were lifted off the ground by an invisible force. The force was very gentle, and with the God's prior warning, they were not afraid at all.
Instead, they were filled with tears of gratitude.
"Xingyang God is above; we will remember your great kindness for generations to come."
"Your blessings are higher than the mountains and deeper than the sea. My descendants shall forever spread the God's gospel."
Chu Xingyang looked toward the center of the Central Continent and prepared to take all the women there.
However, the hundreds of thousands of Goblin on the ground knelt, their wailing shaking the heavens and the earth, "Great Deity Xingyang, we have worshipped you for generations. Without women, our Goblin will perish. We beg for the God's mercy; let us continue."
The Saintess, in the deity's arms, looked down at the ground with cold eyes, her face full of disgust.
Chu Xingyang looked at the Goblin king, "In half a month, you and the Wolf People shall each bring one thousand people to the capital of the Rising Sun Alliance, and the three parties will discuss a solution together."
Having said this, he flew at the front, holding the Saintess, followed by over a thousand women floating in the air, trailing closely behind him—a truly spectacular sight.
The women, having regained their lives and freedom, were filled with the joy and excitement of rebirth. Their falling tears drifted in the air, shining under the sunlight to form a glittering crystal bridge.
Chu Xingyang looked at the uneasy Saintess in his arms, wanting to try and ease her nervous mood, "You are Wei Wei, aren't you?"
The Saintess looked up, tear stains still remaining, but a light flashed in her eyes, "The God... actually knows my name."
"After all, in the five years you have served as Saintess, you have prayed to me devoutly every morning, and I have heard a word or two. You are the descendant of the collateral branch of Wei, who knew medical magic back then."
Wei Wei wiped away her tear stains, her face full of shame, "I am grateful to the God for saving my ancestor from the Goblin back then. But now that I have become like this, I truly feel ashamed before my ancestors."
Chu Xingyang looked at the distant sky and said earnestly, "Do not say that. This is not your fault. Moreover, you are much braver than Wei was back then; in the more than three years in the Goblin's lair, you never cried once and never wavered in your faith even a little. Wei, at the time, was so scared that..."
He stopped his words, feeling that telling Wei's descendant about how Wei had wet himself in fear back then seemed somewhat inappropriate.
The Saintess, however, laughed, "I know! Our Wei clan has always passed it down. They say our ancestor was surrounded by the Goblin and wet himself right there. And since he had no change of clothes, he just let it dry slowly on the way back."
She suddenly put away her smile, her eyes filled with supreme sincerity, "If you had not spared the Shu People back then, there would be no Wei clan, and no me. I wish to serve by your side forever."
Chu Xingyang remained silent. By this moment, they had already arrived at the capital of the Rising Sun Alliance, the Xingyang City-State.
Although he had only asked for a few hundred professional doctors to be transferred over, nearly a million people had poured in from nearby city-states.
They surrounded the already bustling city-state, blocking it completely.
After all, the entire population were believers, and everyone wanted to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to behold the true face of the God.
When they saw the scene of the Xingyang God flying through the air with over a thousand rescued women, the massive crowd immediately erupted.
Cheers and praises were endless, and the earth trembled along with them.
Fortunately, the hospital had already been cordoned off as agreed beforehand. Chu Xingyang flew directly over the dense crowd of people, who looked like ants, and brought these women into the hospital.
All the doctors in the hospital were prostrate on the ground, devoutly awaiting the God's instructions.
The Saintess's feet touched the ground, and she looked around, "Is this what they call a hospital? The first hospital of the Rising Sun Alliance—it is so big. I wonder when our Naya City-State will have one too."
The entire alliance had hundreds of city-states, and most of those who were abducted were women from remote city-states. Many of them had never been to the capital, let alone seen the only hospital in the entire alliance.
Chu Xingyang said to all the doctors prostrate on the ground, "Wash your hands thoroughly and help these women with their physical examinations. Then, arrange beds for the pregnant women and those who are unwell!"
"We obey the God's will!" the doctors said in unison.
Then they immediately began to busy themselves; some doctors took the women who were about to give birth into the delivery rooms.
Another group began counting the number of people and assigning them numbers to facilitate queuing for physical examinations.
Everyone was shedding tears; they deeply felt the God's mercy. The God loves all people; the God cares for everyone!
