66: Chapter 66 The Perilous Truth of Mechanical Ascension

Chu Xingyang's consciousness bypassed the brain-computer interface and returned to his physical body, where he ordered a few carrier aircraft crew members, "Blow up that iron tower above for me; it's an antenna."

Following several earth-shattering roars, he confirmed that the "Holy Tower," where the Centaurs worshiped their false god, had collapsed before he returned to the consciousness world of these people who had undergone Mechanical Ascension.

This world was undergoing subtle changes; although each region was completely isolated and unrelated, in every area, many people's bodies began to flicker and turn translucent, until they completely dissipated into the air like windblown sand.

Residents hiding throughout the castle from the slaughter discovered that the soldiers wielding blades had vanished.

A beautiful woman in a luxurious casino saw the wealthy man who had been holding her and pushing chips disappear into thin air.

A white-collar worker on the way home from work in the city felt a sudden lightness; the serial rapist and murderer who had just been pinning her down was gone.

In the vastness of space, the alien spaceship that had been crushing their own warships suddenly became empty, turning into a ghost ship floating in space.

At this moment, Chu Xingyang spoke, transmitting his words into the consciousness of all the Centaurs: "Alright, those game players have logged off. Is this the world after you Centaurs underwent Mechanical Ascension?"

"To become NPCs in a higher civilization's game, left to be slaughtered and ravished by those players across nearly ten thousand game maps, satisfying their most primitive and wild desires?"

After a long while, a response finally came from a Centaur's consciousness: "Are you one of the carrier aircraft pilots from the Xingyang Civilization that just arrived?"

Chu Xingyang nodded.

A Farmer with a knife scar on his face said slowly, "So what? We Centaurs also quickly realized that this is a game world."

"But after we are killed, we will be reborn again when the game map restarts. The pain is temporary."

An old man chimed in, "Indeed, your Xingyang Civilization has a stable sun, prosperous and flourishing. But we have three suns; many, many people die during the Chaotic Era."

Chu Xingyang looked at the myriad living beings in this game world: "Even if your bodies have been turned into biological batteries for servers, and even if your consciousnesses are used by others for all sorts of venting, you don't care? Has no one really thought about leaving this place?"

Suddenly, a sobbing sound came; a Little Girl was silently rubbing her blood-soaked dress.

With tears in her eyes, she murmured, "I want to leave here; it hurts a lot here sometimes."

A woman beside her squatted down with a pained expression, hugging her and comforting her: "Don't cry, Lisa; I know it hurts a lot sometimes. But the pain is short-lived, and we are eternal here."

"Eternal?" Chu Xingyang scoffed, "Are you truly unaware, or are you just self-deluding? A normal Chaotic Era indeed can't do anything to your airtight steel cities, but..."

"But aren't you curious why the artificial satellites in your planetary orbit used to transmit game data are so crude, why some are broken and no one repairs them, and why their designed service life is so short?"

All the Centaurs were filled with confusion upon hearing this, not understanding the meaning behind it for a moment.

After some whispering and discussion.

People focused their gazes on a merchant; this person was the supreme leader of the Centaurs before the Mechanical Ascension.

Under everyone's gaze, he finally broke down, kneeling on the ground and sobbing uncontrollably: "I have failed you all, I have failed everyone. As the president elected by everyone, I had absolutely no ability to change the status quo."

"In fact, 60 years from now, this planet of ours will be like the other planets in this three-star system, swallowed by one of the suns. By then, whether it is our bodies, these servers, or even our consciousness, everything will be reduced to ashes."

"20 years from now is the long Chaotic Era, and with no solution, I had no choice but to accept the conditions of the Gaimu People. To let everyone spend the last 60 years in peace. Without having to endure the deadly threats of the scorching heat and freezing cold of the Chaotic Era."

He confessed to everyone while crying and complaining.

The Centaurs who learned the truth were all shocked, unable to accept this cruel reality for a moment.

But soon, someone picked up a stone and threw it, cursing angrily, "You hypocritical president, a liar, a villain who aids and abets the evildoer!"

"So the Gaimu People just turned us into a large game that can only survive for 60 years, and you actually accepted it?"

"It really hurts when we are killed here; those gaimu animals kept all the pain sensation just to appreciate our pained expressions when we are abused. I want to leave here."

Amidst the uproar, the Centaur president was soon drowned by saliva and stones.

The Little Girl, Lisa, watched Chu Xingyang from afar, her eyes filled with hot tears: "Can you take me out? I want to leave this world and return to the real world."

Everyone was reminded by Lisa's words and knelt down to beg: "We now know that the Gaimu People are not gods at all, just sinister beings from another star system satisfying their own selfish desires."

"Please, Xingyang Civilization, save us. We piously believe in the great and only Great Deity Xingyang. We beg you to rescue us from this game."

Chu Xingyang thought about it; this was just a simple task.

Not long after, the Centaurs in the transparent cabinets beneath those huge servers opened their eyes one after another.

After a brief period of adaptation, they walked onto the surface one after another.

The forty-plus degree high temperature enveloped their bodies; it was hot but real.

Everyone had tears in their eyes and knelt piously: "Thank you, Great Deity Xingyang. It is the great deity who rescued us from the fake world and the tangible pain."

"We will piously believe in the great and only Great Deity Xingyang for the remaining decades!"

The Little Girl, Lisa, was as weak in complexion as the other Centaurs who had just come out, but at this moment, her dress was clean, and her face was beautiful.

She walked to Chu Xingyang's side with her mother and said happily, "Thank you, Big Brother. Mom said the Xingyang God must be very great and kind to save us from misery."

Chu Xingyang laughed, "That goes without saying."

At this moment, the two captains, Gu Shuiqing and Tomwence, were counting these new believers with mixed feelings along with their subordinates.

Helmsman Xuan Yue wiped away tears secretly: "It's a pity that their lives and civilization will disappear in 60 years."

A Centaur boy heard this and stared curiously at Missionary Tuku Lie: "Will the Xingyang God let our planet welcome an eternal Stable Era?"

Tuku Lie raised his head proudly: "The great Xingyang God is omniscient and omnipotent; the deity will save all faithful believers!"

Chu Xingyang looked at the three chaotic stars in this stellar system and thought to himself that it was indeed possible to let the only planet in this trinary star system continue to survive.

But this disturbance would likely be observed by advanced civilizations in nearly a hundred billion stellar systems throughout the Three-Spiral Galaxy System.

But it didn't matter; at least for now, the grudge with the Gaimu People had been completely established.
