10: He is my boss.
The 1996 NBA Draft was a year of abundant talent in history, producing many well-known superstars, known as the "96 Golden Generation."
There weren't many Collector's cards from that year's draft to begin with, and they weren't worth much at first, so many were discarded.
Once the drafted stars made their names on the basketball court and gained massive fanbases, it became very difficult to collect a complete set of Collector's cards.
After Tom realized the extraordinary value of the basketball cards, his hands began to tremble slightly.
"These basketball cards are definitely very valuable. I'm not quite sure about the specific price; I'll need the Expert Brian to appraise them."
"Black, come out for a moment. I'm a bit unsure about this item."
Black came over at the call, put on white gloves, and examined them one by one.
Seeing the Appraiser's solemn expression, the surrounding people all quieted down.
Everyone was very eager to know exactly how much these exceptionally precious basketball cards were worth.
After Black finished checking the basketball cards, he counted them once more.
"This set of Collector's cards is extremely precious. It's worth at least twenty thousand dollars. If you find the right Collector, it could sell for an even higher price."
"It's a pity that this set is missing a key Ray Allen card; otherwise, the price could double!"
"Allen's player cards are very rare, and those who collect them are his fans. I'm afraid it will be hard for them to part with one!"
After putting down the Collector's cards, he shook his head with a look of regret on his face.
When the people around heard "twenty thousand dollars," they all gasped.
Hearing that it could sell for more and that the price could even double, they all began to exclaim in surprise.
"These cards are way too valuable!"
"This kid's luck is incredible. To get such a huge harvest from buying two abandoned warehouses is simply a massive profit from a small investment!"
"I really regret it! If I had known, I should have raised my bid and won that warehouse!"
Speaking of the right Collector, Qin Yun immediately thought of the car shop owner. Given his fanatical obsession with Kobe, he would surely offer a satisfying price.
The 1996 Allen basketball cards are very rare. Trying to find one card in the entire USA is undoubtedly like looking for a needle in a haystack.
However, Qin Yun was a bit unwilling to sell them cheaply. It would be best to find the Allen Collector's card and sell the complete set for a better price.
Brian saw Qin Yun's conflicted expression and wanted to take the opportunity to buy them. Just as he was about to make an offer, Julia suddenly spoke.
"Qin, I know an Allen fan who likely has that player card."
"That person is a big Collector. It might be hard to buy it with money, but he prefers collecting vintage items related to the entertainment industry. We might be able to try a trade."
Julia's words caused Qin Yun's emotions to shift rapidly.
He had just found hope, only for it to be dashed again. After all, warehouse treasure hunting is random, and he couldn't decide what he'd find.
"It just so happens there's a Warehouse Auction in New Haven tomorrow. It's not far from here, and it's produced quite a few top-tier items."
"Maybe what we need is there!"
To help Qin Yun, she had done a lot of homework.
Participating in a Warehouse Auction with Qin Yun would definitely lead to finding many interesting treasures, which was undoubtedly very fun.
Qin Yun's heart stirred; New Haven might have what that Tycoon needed.
"Of course we're going. If we can find treasures related to the entertainment industry, it'll be killing two birds with one stone. Not only can we make money from those, but that set of basketball cards can also be sold at a high price!"
Tom felt regretful for missing out on the basketball cards, but seeing Qin Yun's decision to complete the set before selling, he could do nothing.
After the silver coins were appraised, Qin Yun and Tom engaged in an intense negotiation, and the silver coins were finally sold for ten thousand dollars.
After the transaction, Qin Yun and Julia walked out of the Auction House.
Thinking of Julia's contribution, he decided to give her some compensation.
"This five thousand dollars is your payment for this time!"
Qin Yun, realizing Julia had been quite helpful in this Warehouse Auction, took five thousand dollars out of his bag and handed it over.
One wouldn't get far in the world of warehouse treasure hunting on interest alone. It was better to provide some compensation for whenever he needed Julia's help in the future.
After all, this assistant of his had helped quite a bit and provided the lead on the Allen card. Once the business grew, her skills as a lawyer would also be very useful.
Using five thousand dollars to tie a lawyer to his cause seemed like a profitable deal no matter how you looked at it.
Julia didn't expect Qin Yun to give her money. Her face was full of surprise, and she quickly shook her head.
"This isn't right, is it?"
Qin Yun put on a serious face.
"You're my assistant. If I make money, I definitely have to give you a share. Or do you think I'm giving too little?"
Qin Yun said jokingly.
Julia came from a wealthy family and didn't lack this bit of money.
But since Qin Yun said it that way and his attitude was so firm, she had no choice but to agree.
"No, it's not that. I'll take it then."
Julia took the money with both hands, a happy smile appearing on her face.
This was the first pot of gold she had earned from a Warehouse Auction, so she naturally couldn't suppress her joy.
"Thank you."
This five thousand dollars was also Qin Yun's recognition of her, so she would have to work even harder from now on.
The two said goodbye in the parking lot. Qin Yun returned to his rented apartment and, amidst the noise from next door, checked the information for the next Warehouse Auction.
He thought to himself that it was time to move to a new house.
Early the next morning, Qin Yun was awakened by an impatient knocking. When he opened the door, he was met with a loud voice.
"Your rent is only paid up to this month. It's time to pay the next installment!"
Seeing the middle-aged, fat woman in front of him who looked ready to explode with impatience, a bitter smile appeared on Qin Yun's face.
He made up his mind: moving was absolutely necessary!
"I won't be renting starting next month."
The Landlady didn't expect the kid to stop renting, and a look of surprise appeared on her face.
"Why not? There aren't any houses around here cheaper than mine, right?"
She wondered if someone had snatched the deal with a lower price, or if this guy couldn't make it here anymore and was going to crawl back in disgrace.
"I want to move to a better place."
Hearing Qin Yun's words, the Landlady shook her head dismissively, a mocking smile on her face as the fat on her face squeezed together.
"With just you? You want to move to a better place? You don't even have a real job, and yet you really think you're some big boss?"
"You're not just unable to afford the rent and about to live on the streets, are you?"
The Landlady's words were very malicious, her eyes full of ridicule.
"Hello, Boss."
Julia, who had just arrived, happened to witness all this and sweetly called out "Hello, Boss."
She stepped forward, gave Qin Yun a hug, and kissed him lightly on the cheek.
Seeing an elegantly dressed beauty calling Qin Yun "Boss," the Landlady was stunned on the spot.
