102: Defeated opponent, utterly vulnerable.
Qin Yun's face darkened instantly.
This man didn't look like he was lying, and it made sense for Walter to send someone to monitor them.
Having come from a background in the underworld, Walter would certainly be unwilling to accept the several losses he had suffered at Qin Yun's hands.
New York was Walter's turf, and as Brother Wu Ying's boss, his methods would be even more sinister and treacherous.
He needed to be more vigilant.
“I'm telling the truth, I didn't do anything. You said you'd let me go, you, you...”
The skinny man looked at Qin Yun in terror, thinking he was going back on his word, and hurriedly explained.
“Get lost!”
Qin Yun barked, no longer looking at the skinny man, and left the dark alleyway directly with Julia.
This man was just an insignificant pawn; there was no need to bother with him. Tomorrow's auction was the most important thing.
The skinny man watched the two leave with a flickering gaze, not daring to follow them again.
He hesitated for three minutes before calling Walter.
“Boss, I was discovered by Qin Yun.”
The skinny man spoke with a lack of confidence.
“Useless trash! If you can't even handle such a small matter, why don't you just die! I've supported you for so long, what use are you! Get back here!”
Hearing the angry roar from the other side of the phone, the skinny man just lowered his head and complied.
After such an incident, Qin Yun and Julia had no interest in wandering the streets further and took a taxi back to the manor where they were staying.
“Qin, we have to be careful. There's no telling what crazy things Walter might do.”
Julia looked at Qin Yun with a worried expression.
Qin Yun held Julia's hand and comforted her, “It's nothing. We'll be on Arnold's turf from now on; that man won't dare to act recklessly.”
Back at the manor, the two prepared what they needed for tomorrow and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning at nine o'clock.
Qin Yun and Julia arrived at the agreed-upon location.
They found Arnold standing in front of a stretch Lincoln limousine.
“To have you come to greet us personally, I'm truly flattered.”
Qin Yun stepped forward and made a joking compliment.
“It's my honor to welcome you personally. I'm counting on you to show your great prowess at the auction.”
“Your purchase of the Silver Mine map yesterday caused quite a stir in New York. I bet many Tycoons have nearly broken down your door, haven't they?”
Arnold responded politely.
After speaking, he opened the car door to invite the two inside, then sat down in the front.
“It's nothing, just good luck.”
“Is there anything I should be aware of for this internal auction?”
Qin Yun smiled, not dwelling on yesterday's events, and began to ask about the precautions for the internal auction.
Arnold pondered for a moment, a somewhat heavy expression appearing on his face.
“The warehouses in this auction might have been tampered with by the company. They have the authority to take one item out or add one item to each warehouse. Any added item must be placed in a location visible from the outside.”
“It's also possible they're left untouched; there's no telling. Because of this, internal auctions have a lot of uncertainty and the difficulty is significantly increased. You not only have to consider the warehouse's original owner but also what the company might have put in. It places much higher demands on a Treasure Hunter's discerning eye.”
Arnold took a deep breath and continued, “There will be many veteran Treasure Hunters participating in this auction. Don't worry too much; just act as you usually do.”
He had great confidence in Qin Yun's ability to evaluate warehouses.
However, Warehouse Auctions inherently involved a great deal of uncertainty, and luck was also a crucial factor.
Arnold didn't put too much pressure on Qin Yun.
“Don't worry, I can definitely win!”
Qin Yun said with great confidence.
No matter what kind of warehouse it was, as long as there were treasures inside, they would be seen clearly by his Profound Vision Treasure Eye.
Therefore, he was certain of victory.
Arnold nodded without saying anything.
It was good that Qin Yun had fighting spirit, and since his luck was so good, the chance of winning was very high.
The auction was held at Yankee Stadium in New York.
Baseball is the most popular sport in the US, and the Yankees are the greatest team in the Major Leagues.
Yankee Stadium cost nearly two billion to build and is one of the most luxurious baseball stadiums; the Storage Company's ability to book the entire stadium showed their extraordinary strength.
Upon entering the stadium, Qin Yun found that red carpets had already been laid out on the grass.
The surroundings were filled with colorful flowers and dazzling crystal decorations.
A stage had been set up in the center, with a dozen tables below it.
The tables were laden with fine wines, fruit platters, and delicacies.
From the look of it, people would believe it if it were called a large-scale charity auction.
Seeing this, Qin Yun clicked his tongue in secret.
Wasn't this a bit too extravagant and luxurious?
It was just a Warehouse Auction; was such a massive spectacle necessary?
There were already many people at the venue.
Arnold introduced Qin Yun to everyone with a smile.
Everyone responded warmly.
“So you are Qin Yun. With such an extraordinary appearance, you truly are a heroic youth.”
“I heard about your discovery of the Silver Mine yesterday. Truly remarkable.”
“Go easy on us during the auction; I don't want to lose too embarrassingly.”
“Now that Arnold has found Qin Yun, it seems there's no hope for me in this competition.”
...Qin Yun's discovery of the Silver Mine had caused a huge sensation in New York. As senior Persons in Charge of Warehouse Auctions, they also shared some of the glory, so they were all very friendly.
“Not at all, I was just lucky.”
Qin Yun responded to each of them.
This was Arnold's kindness, and he couldn't be ungrateful or act too rudely.
Getting to know the executives of the Storage Company would be helpful for his future Warehouse Auctions.
With such connections, he could get information that ordinary people couldn't, and if a problem arose, he would know who to go to for a solution.
“There's no need for you to know this person. Ronald is a sinister villain; it's good enough if he doesn't stab you in the back. He couldn't possibly help you with anything.”
When they reached the last table, Arnold's face turned sour, and he was about to leave after saying that.
“Arnold, what do you mean by that? Calling me a sinister villain? Who do you think you are? You're nothing but my defeated opponent.”
“If your skills are inferior, don't harbor resentment. It's not good for the company.”
Ronald stood up and sneered, speaking in a sarcastic tone.
“If it weren't for your dirty tricks, would I have lost? It's because of villains like you that the company is in such a foul state!”
Arnold didn't back down at all and fired right back.
“A foul state? If you're dissatisfied with the company's current situation, just say it. What's the point of beating around the bush like a resentful woman?”
“If you can't stand it, then resign. It's a waste of your talent to be at the Storage Company anyway. Without you, the company's development will surely be better.”
“You aren't looking for excuses for today's failure, are you? How can you work when you have no confidence at all? And acting so rudely, you're truly an embarrassment to the company.”
Ronald said in a mocking tone.
He was the type who refused to lose out; for every word Arnold said, he could retaliate with ten.
Hearing these far-fetched words, Arnold gritted his teeth in anger.
There was no winning an argument with such a shameless person.
Qin Yun saw that the consultant beside Ronald was Walter and asked with feigned surprise.
“Aren't you my defeated opponent?”
“Participating in an auction with that level of skill... didn't you lose enough yesterday? Are you here to get crushed again today?”
