62: Slain by the sword
It happened to be Qin Yun's turn to keep watch; he became alert as soon as there was an unusual noise at the door.
After waking Julia, the two hid behind the door to see what was happening.
Qin Yun tightly gripped the nine dragons precious sword in his hand.
He hadn't expected the thieves to be so reckless.
To actually dare to pick the lock of a five-star hotel room.
They were truly courting death.
In less than half a minute, the door had been opened.
Qin Yun and Julia hid to the side under the cover of darkness, their eyes meeting; the two were in perfect sync, and neither made a sound.
They watched silently to see what these uninvited guests intended to do.
After picking the lock, two dark figures gently closed the door and tiptoed toward the bed.
They raised silenced pistols and fired a volley of shots at the bed.
Julia hadn't expected the two thugs to be so vicious.
Picking the lock was one thing, but they actually used silenced pistols to commit murder!
The hand she used to grip Qin Yun's was trembling uncontrollably, her eyes filled with terror.
If Qin Yun hadn't been beside her, she would have fainted from fear long ago.
Hearing the muffled gunshots, Qin Yun immediately knew what was happening.
These people actually intended to kill him and Julia.
A cold killing intent flashed in Qin Yun's eyes.
Because the nine dragons precious sword was so valuable, it would have been somewhat understandable if these people were just here to rob them; he had planned to teach them a lesson and then send them to prison.
But murder? That was absolutely unacceptable!
Murderous intent rose in his heart; he would make these two pay a blood price.
Grasping Julia's hand, Qin Yun gave her a reassuring look that said, "Leave everything to me."
Seeing that Qin Yun's face showed no trace of fear and that he still looked confident, Julia immediately calmed down.
She knew that fear was useless.
If she panicked out of fear...
Not only would she lose her life, but she would also drag Qin Yun down with her.
That was something she could not accept under any circumstances.
Julia knew that the key to escaping safely was Qin Yun.
She had seen Qin Yun's kung fu before; dealing with four or five burly men was no problem for him.
So she made up her mind; even if she had to risk her life, she would cooperate with Qin Yun to get out of danger.
Qin Yun saw the determined look in Julia's eyes and came up with a plan.
He pointed to the light switch in the room and gestured that she should turn on the light once he moved in.
Julia nodded, indicating she understood what Qin Yun meant.
The two men in black, wearing masks, relaxed after they finished firing.
With so many bullets, even an iron man on the bed would be dead.
Thinking that the nine dragons precious sword would soon be in their hands, the two exchanged excited glances.
One of them stepped forward to pull back the covers.
At that moment, the lights in the room suddenly flickered on.
The dazzling light illuminated everything in the room.
When the two saw the lights come on, they immediately knew things had gone wrong.
However, because of the sudden transition from darkness to light and their lack of preparation, their vision instantly went dark.
They wanted to open their eyes to see what was happening, but they were powerless to do so.
Struggling to open their eyes, tears welled up, and their vision remained a blur.
After signaling Julia, Qin Yun unsheathed his longsword and quietly slipped behind the two men.
The moment the lights came on, he immediately activated his Profound Vision Treasure Eye.
The longsword in his hand slashed toward one of the guys in front of him.
As expected of a sword that could cut through iron like butter, it seemed to absorb all light in the darkness, completely hiding its trajectory.
Without a sound, the sword sliced through as if cutting into water, meeting only slight resistance.
Without Qin Yun using much strength, the man was sliced in two!
Seeing the scene before him, he felt no discomfort.
If these people wanted to kill him, they had to bear the risk of being killed by him.
They had brought this on themselves, so Qin Yun didn't feel much of a burden on his conscience.
Seeing his companion killed, the remaining man turned and raised his hand, intending to shoot Qin Yun with the gun.
However, because of the Profound Vision Treasure Eye, the man's movements appeared terrifyingly slow in Qin Yun's eyes.
He wanted to know who these two were.
Robbing the nine dragons precious sword was one thing, but why did they have to try and kill him and Julia?
So he decided to leave a survivor to interrogate and find out who had sent them.
With this in mind, the sword in Qin Yun's hand slashed toward the man's right hand.
Without the slightest hesitation, a flash of sword light appeared, and the man's wrist fell to the floor.
A pig-like squeal instantly erupted in the room.
The masked man couldn't understand why Qin Yun and Julia weren't in the bed.
He had clearly fired his gun, so why hadn't he heard any screams?
He felt a cold sensation at his right wrist, followed by a heart-wrenching pain.
Only then did he realize his hand had been severed.
By now, the man's vision had returned to normal, and he saw his right hand on the floor and his companion sliced in two.
He was terrified; his back was drenched in cold sweat, and his body trembled uncontrollably.
This was supposed to be a foolproof plan—the two of them ambushing Qin Yun with guns.
Why were they the ones who failed?
Julia was very worried about Qin Yun's safety.
These two had guns.
If anything went wrong, both their lives would be in danger.
She really wanted to tell Qin Yun...
...to let her turn on the light as a distraction so he could sneak out of the room.
But this was Qin Yun's decision, and the situation was so urgent there was no time to discuss it.
She could only go along with Qin Yun's suggestion.
As she turned on the light, Julia silently prayed for Qin Yun.
She hoped Qin Yun could turn danger into safety, succeed in his ambush, and restrain the two frenzied intruders.
When Julia saw Qin Yun slice that man in half with one stroke...
...she didn't feel the slightest bit of guilt.
Since the two of them had come to cause trouble for Qin Yun, dying a hundred times wouldn't be enough.
Seeing the second person turn and try to shoot Qin Yun, she almost cried out.
Only when she saw the hand holding the gun get sliced off did Julia finally relax.
Qin Yun was completely out of danger now!
At this moment, with the tension finally released, Julia felt like she had no strength left in her body.
She leaned against the wall, propping herself up with her hand to keep from collapsing.
Hearing the man's screams, Qin Yun's heart remained as hard as iron, his murderous intent not wavering in the slightest.
"Who exactly are you?"
"Who sent you, and why did you try to assassinate us?"
After killing one person, Qin Yun's tone turned icy.
He was determined that no matter who was behind these two, he would show no mercy!
The man clutched his severed wrist and wailed incessantly.
Hearing Qin Yun's question, he stared at him with eyes full of resentment.
"Why weren't you in the bed?"
"I regret it so much..."
Seeing that the man's answer was irrelevant, Qin Yun kicked him.
Out of fear and despair, the man didn't even try to resist.
He fell over and continued to groan on the floor.
"Don't kill me, I'll tell you everything!"
"Murder is illegal. If you let me go, I'll act as if nothing happened."
"I have a boss behind me. If you kill me, my boss won't let you or Qin Yun off."
To survive, the man gritted his teeth and propped himself up with one hand, glaring at Qin Yun threateningly.
Qin Yun sneered, completely indifferent to the man's threat.
"I've already killed someone; do you think I care about your threats?"
"You insignificant vermin. If you dare to strike at me, you must be prepared to be killed in return."
Qin Yun felt the voice was somewhat familiar, so he stepped forward and pulled off the man's mask.
He discovered that this person was actually Brother Wu Ying!
