168: Transactions on the table

Qin Yun was taken aback for a moment, but quickly regained his composure.

"Alright, let's do it this way!"

After clinking glasses with Lyon again, Qin Yun readily agreed.

He had originally intended to keep his distance from a dangerous character like Lyon, but since Lyon had put it that way,

Qin Yun had no choice but to agree.

Lyon had just helped him resolve the Haishizi issue and even hosted them with such a high-standard banquet.

Refusing Lyon's proposal would feel like killing the donkey after it's done grinding—a betrayal of gratitude.

Moreover, they were on Lyon's turf; even if he were careless, he wouldn't dare refuse.

"Don't worry, my connections in the U.S. are no worse than Haishizi's. With me stepping in, you'll definitely be fine."

"Through interrogating Haishizi's accountant and assistant, I also discovered an antique collection room in Haishizi's estate, filled with many Xia Kingdom antiques. You'll surely be satisfied when the time comes."

Lyon was very pleased with Qin Yun's straightforward answer. He patted Qin Yun's shoulder and coaxed him in a Buddy-like tone.

Qin Yun felt a wave of speechlessness in his heart.

Truly a Bandit Warlord—robbing once wasn't enough; now he wanted to raid Haishizi's home in the U.S.

Since he couldn't resist, he might as well enjoy it.

Perhaps Haishizi's collection room held many Xia Kingdom antiques?

Stealing from others was the fastest way to get rich. With Lyon backing him up, what was there to fear?

The U.S. was his territory; if things went south, he could slip away in time.

"Great, I'm looking forward to seeing what treasures Haishizi's collection holds."

After Qin Yun spoke, both of them burst into laughter, looking like partners in crime.

Back in the room, Julia looked at Qin Yun with unease: "Getting too close to Lyon isn't something we can control. I don't want to escape Haishizi only to have Lyon latch onto us."

Qin Yun, however, wore a confident expression, showing no signs of worry.

"Don't worry, I won't make the same mistake twice."

"In the U.S., it's our turf. Without soldiers, Lyon can't do much to us."

Qin Yun hugged Julia and reassured her firmly.

He had no intention of fully trusting Lyon, always keeping his guard up against him.

Through Robert, he could completely wash away the stain of killing Haishizi, leaving no leverage in Lyon's hands.

In the U.S., he could break free from Lyon's control at any time.

No windfall, no wealth. He was now somewhat eager to see what goodies Haishizi's home held.

The next day, when Qin Yun arrived at the auction,

everyone looked at him with fearful eyes, keeping a certain distance.

Although they weren't clear about what happened at Haishizi's villa last night,

with such loud commotions and heavily armed soldiers guarding it, they figured Haishizi had run into serious trouble.

All of this was related to Qin Yun. They no longer dared to treat him as just a skilled Treasure Hunter like before.

Now that Qin Yun was deeply involved with the Lyon Family, and the Lyon Family was the undisputed local power in Libya, they placed Qin Yun in a high position.

Qin Yun was happy to enjoy the peace and quiet. He didn't linger around stalls with safes containing valuable documents.

He had no need for such things anymore.

Instead of that, he might as well seize this precious opportunity to acquire more antiques and artworks.

Here, he could get them at 50-60% of the international price. Back home, not only could he make a hefty profit, but it would also bring significant fame to his shop.

Antiques and artworks were openly displayed. He didn't take advantage of others' fear to compete by offering low prices.

Instead, he chose to buy at Belgian prices.

Those around him secretly breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this.

If Qin Yun had chosen to auction the safes, they wouldn't have known what to do.

With Qin Yun's sharp eye, the safes likely contained priceless documents.

But bidding against Qin Yun? They simply didn't have the guts.

Haishizi's example was right there. They were here to profit from war, not to follow in Haishizi's footsteps.

After selecting over a dozen items worth nearly ten million, he heard a frivolous cough behind him. Turning around, he saw Robert looking at him with a smile.

"Impressive. I was wondering how to rescue you from Haishizi, but you and Lyon have already dealt with him. Truly unbelievable."

Robert shook his head, looking at Qin Yun with an exaggerated expression.

Qin Yun asked calmly, "Won't I face any trouble?"

Robert's expression immediately turned serious: "I won't cause you trouble, but people from Haishizi's The Consortium are another story."

"I have the confidential documents I found yesterday, and Haishizi's documents are with me too. What do you think?"

Qin Yun wasn't intimidated by Robert's words and said with a smile.

A conflicted look appeared on Robert's face.

He didn't want to deal with this mess, but the documents in Qin Yun's hands were too important.

With those documents, plus what Qin Yun had found for him, Robert could ensure he had a complete grasp of the situation in Belgium.

His colleagues and the U.S. military wouldn't face major dangers.

U.S. interests in Libya would be secured.

And he would earn considerable credit.

"Alright, I'm hooked. State your conditions."

Robert glanced around, making sure no one was nearby, then whispered.

"I'll give you everything for ten million, as long as you guarantee no official trouble for me."

A strange glint flashed in Qin Yun's eyes as he stared intently at Robert and stated his condition seriously.

Robert nodded earnestly and said, "Good, I accept your condition!"

Qin Yun had Julia hand over the pre-prepared box to Robert.

Robert immediately transferred ten million to Qin Yun's account on the spot. They exchanged smiles, successfully completing the deal.

Qin Yun had no intention of staying at the auction any longer. He left with Julia, taking the antiques and artworks he had bought.

His trip to the Belgian auction had come to an end.

His gains weren't as astonishing as expected, but they were still quite good.

Half a volume of the yongle encyclopedia, over six million dollars in cash.

Over ten million worth of antiques and artworks, which could easily sell for fifteen million dollars back in the U.S.

The only headache was getting entangled with Lyon, a troublesome figure.

Julia didn't question Qin Yun's deal with Robert much.

Qin Yun must have had his reasons for doing this. If necessary, he would surely tell her.

Lyon brought ten elite soldiers disguised as bodyguards and goods gathered by his family.

They boarded Haishizi's private jet and headed to the U.S. in the early hours.

Once the plane entered U.S. airspace, Qin Yun and Julia's hearts were in their throats.

They worried Lyon couldn't handle U.S. relations well and the plane might be intercepted.

The flight went smoothly, landing at an obscure Military Base in the Northern Border of the U.S.

U.S. officers and soldiers were even at the airport to welcome Lyon.

Seeing this, Qin Yun completely relaxed.

It seemed Lyon wasn't bluffing; his influence in the U.S. was not to be underestimated.

The Military Airport was close to Augusta.

It took less than two hours by car to reach Haishizi's estate.

After ringing the doorbell, Old Butler Potter, whom they had met before, opened the door.

He looked at Qin Yun with confusion and asked, "Why hasn't Haishizi returned?"

Qin Yun took out an envelope and handed it to Potter.

"Haishizi still has some matters to attend to in Libya, so he sent me back first. This letter contains the reward he promised me."

Potter didn't think much of it and welcomed everyone inside.
