139: Arrogant person in charge

When Bowen saw how big Qin Yun was talking, even calling someone to manage the people at Christies, he burst into loud laughter again.

"Are you trying to kill me with laughter? You're going to have someone manage Christies' people? I run such a large company, and even I don't measure up to the Christies branch, let alone a Treasure Hunter like you."

"If you had made up something a bit more realistic, I might have believed it. Trying to scare me with this kind of talk? You think too highly of yourself; you don't realize the gap between us is like a vast chasm!"

Bowen laughed so hard he slapped his belly as he spoke, no longer caring about the image he valued so much.

He felt a bit strange seeing how calm Qin Yun and Julia remained, as if they were completely unmoved.

"Stop acting mysterious. Your skill at deception isn't even as good as mine."

"Once the people from the Christies branch arrive, all your lies will be scattered like dust. When your true faces are exposed, don't blame me for being unkind."

Seeing that the two of them still wouldn't confess, Bowen didn't bother wasting any more words with these thick-skinned fools.

Once the Christies branch people arrived, a good lesson would make them realize the reality that they were just scum.

Bowen took his time making himself a cup of coffee and sat in his executive chair to savor it slowly.

Soon, a subordinate came to the office to report that the people from Christies had arrived.

Bowen quickly stood up and jogged to the company entrance to greet them.

"Mr. Burton, you're such a busy man. I'm so embarrassed to have you make a special trip."

Bowen acted extremely polite, forming a sharp contrast to the arrogant and overbearing attitude he showed in front of Qin Yun and Julia.

Burton waved his hand, every gesture carrying the air of a big shot.

"It's nothing, it's what I should do. If what you said is true, no amount of attention I pay to this would be excessive."

Burton had an arrogant look on his face, yet his words were very polite. The mismatch between his expression and language gave off the vibe of a minor official flaunting his borrowed authority.

Bowen led Burton into the office and, with a sinister smile, introduced Qin Yun to him.

"This is the famous Treasure Hunter, Qin Yun—the one who's been quite well-known lately. He said he wanted to find someone to manage your branch."

"Christies must care very much about the opinions of such celebrities, right?"

Bowen placed heavy emphasis on the word 'celebrities' and then shot Qin Yun a malicious look.

He then stepped aside, waiting to watch the show.

Manage us?

Hearing Bowen's words, Burton immediately flared up with rage.

A Treasure Hunter dared to interfere in the affairs of Christies Auction House?

The two sides weren't even on the same level.

Even the Warehouse Auctions organized by storage companies were a joke in the eyes of their professional Auction House.

Rather than auctions, they were more like trash disposal.

Not to mention a Treasure Hunter; in their eyes, Treasure Hunters were the lowest tier of the underground collection world.

He felt nothing but disdain for a somewhat famous Treasure Hunter like Qin Yun.

Burton walked up to Qin Yun with a long face.

"What kind of thing are you to dare lecture our Auction House? To spout such big talk about managing our Auction House—do you not know your place?"

"Christies is a top-tier Auction House. Your so-called Warehouse Auctions are just child's play in front of our company, let alone a low-life Treasure Hunter like you. You'd better apologize to us immediately, or I'll make you understand the price of boasting."

Burton glared at Qin Yun and scolded him angrily.

In Qin Yun's eyes, the performance of these two was like that of clowns.

"Do you know what you're discussing? It's about a thief who stole something belonging to me and then handed it to an Auction House for sale. Does your Christies Auction House even accept such dirty, stolen goods?"

Qin Yun explained the sequence of events in a calm tone.

Burton frowned; he hadn't expected this situation.

However, Christies was a big company. As long as the item was good, procedural loopholes were easy to fix.

"Is the situation as Qin Yun described?"

Burton glanced at Bowen and asked.

"Don't listen to their nonsense. I got the items through special channels. I guarantee they are good, and no one else has evidence to trouble me."

"It's this kid Qin Yun who, relying on his bit of fame, came to my office to talk nonsense and even said he'd manage your company."

Bowen brushed over the problematic parts with vague words, instead focusing on exaggerating Qin Yun's behavior.

Burton nodded, roughly understanding the situation.

On one side was Bowen, who was respectful and would provide treasures; on the other was someone who was rude to him and even spoke arrogantly about the company.

His choice was obvious.

"Don't talk nonsense if you have no evidence. We are Christies, a big company; there won't be any problems."

"On the contrary, if you keep talking rubbish, I'll have the company's legal department step in and fix your attitude!"

Burton stared at Qin Yun with an unfriendly expression. If this insignificant kid provoked him again...

He would find an excuse to teach the kid a lesson.

Qin Yun shook his head, not surprised that Burton made such a choice.

But he would absolutely not accept this practice of disregarding right and wrong.

"I have nothing to say to you. In fact, you don't even have the qualification to speak to me."

After Qin Yun finished speaking, he sat on the sofa and ignored these two self-important people.

He thought to himself that once the Christies senior management arrived and dealt with them, these two would know who was the one boasting.

And who was the inferior existence.

Burton was nearly bursting with rage. He had almost openly threatened him, yet this kid was still talking big.

He wanted to teach Qin Yun a lesson but found him sitting leisurely on the sofa.

Even if he wanted to take action, he didn't have a good reason. He was a big figure and couldn't be like an unrefined person like Qin Yun, resorting to fists and kicks directly.

Remembering that Qin Yun had already called someone, Burton sat down in the executive chair.

He wanted to see who in the small city of Augusta would dare to cross a giant like Christies.

While fanning the flames, Bowen personally served tea and water to Burton, making him very comfortable.

He thought to himself that Qin Yun had actually come looking for trouble with him and had even offended a big shot from Christies.

Once this kid was dealt with, the things he had obtained would no longer have any hidden risks.

Half an hour passed.

Qin Yun was still sitting leisurely on the sofa, while Burton and Bowen could no longer sit still.

They considered themselves big figures; how could they waste time with a lowly, stinking Treasure Hunter?

"Are you playing with me? My time is very precious, and I don't have time to waste on a piece of trash like you. If you kowtow and admit your mistake, I'll spare you this time. Otherwise, you'll have to face the consequences."

Burton's patience was exhausted, and he stood up to shout at Qin Yun.

"Easterners are all like this. They are nothing but love to talk big. We shouldn't have had any expectations for such people. Even someone like Qin Yun, who is somewhat famous in the warehouse business, is like this, let alone others."

"I say we just beat this kid up and throw him outside. You're a big figure; we don't need to waste time with this kind of person."

Bowen seized the opportunity to unleash a barrage of insults at Qin Yun.

Qin Yun's face turned cold. He could ignore two ignorant people insulting him.

But he would never allow anyone to insult his motherland.

He slapped the table and stood up abruptly.

"Keep your mouth clean, or don't blame me for being unkind!"

Qin Yun glared at the two of them. If their mouths remained filthy, he would take action to teach them a lesson.

Burton and Bowen felt a powerful aura radiating from Qin Yun. Their hearts skipped a beat, and they took several steps back.

Burton quickly realized that this was just Qin Yun bluffing.

And he had actually been frightened by such a flawed move. Turning his shame into anger, he shouted to the people behind him.

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and deal with this arrogant kid!"
