105: Disruptors
Everyone looked at the fifth warehouse with confusion, trying to figure out what was so special about it.
Why would Qin Yun, who hadn't made a single move until now, suddenly bid a hundred thousand dollars?
The fifth warehouse was filled with many suitcases. They looked like they came from an airport or train station, a collection of lost luggage left behind by travelers.
This kind of lot, which didn't originate from a single storage unit, was the easiest to tamper with; no one would notice if a suitcase was added or removed.
Bidding on a warehouse like this was largely a gamble.
It was even less reliable than opening blind boxes.
While there might be good items in the suitcases, the possibility of finding precious treasures was slim.
If an item were truly valuable, the owner would surely have searched for it, and the suitcase wouldn't have ended up here.
Although it was possible the CEO had intentionally placed a suitcase with a treasure inside, betting on that seemed a bit too risky.
Ronald was the first to react.
He and Arnold were strong competitors for the position of General Manager of the company.
As Arnold's consultant, that Eastern Kid, Qin Yun, was surely putting all his eggs in one basket with this final warehouse.
"Is Qin Yun making a desperate last stand, trying to help Arnold make a comeback with the last warehouse?"
"I think he's dreaming. There's nothing to see in this warehouse; he's just causing trouble."
Ronald felt he had already secured the best warehouse and would definitely crush Arnold in the competition.
His vindictive nature was fully exposed as he stood up and mocked Qin Yun with a cold, ridiculing sneer.
Hearing Ronald's words, everyone else realized what was happening. It wasn't that Qin Yun had seen something special; he was making a final gamble just to save face.
"A novice who knows nothing! He didn't dare bid before, and his only move is playing petty tricks. How did we get a black sheep like you among us Treasure Hunters?"
"Exactly, he's disgraced all Treasure Hunters. Instead of studying how to evaluate warehouses, he's resorting to crooked methods. Someone like him will trip up sooner or later."
"This guy is so hypocritical. Why can't he just admit his lack of skill? Now he's bidding recklessly; his hypocrisy is just exaggerated."
"I originally thought Qin Yun might have some skill, but I didn't expect him to bid so high on a pile of suitcases. It's simply irrational!"
"I don't know the first thing about warehouses, but even I can see this warehouse isn't worth much. His high bid is just nonsense."
"Do you think Qin Yun is betting that the CEO put a suitcase with a treasure inside? It's not impossible, but the odds are too small. If I were the CEO, I'd at most put in a souvenir with a little value."
...Most people frowned upon Qin Yun's sudden bid of a hundred thousand dollars.
They believed Qin Yun was making a final struggle for the sake of his own pride.
Arnold didn't take the others' words to heart.
He had personally witnessed Qin Yun's warehouse bidding process and was well aware of Qin Yun's track record.
He knew there was a reason Qin Yun was bidding high for this warehouse.
"Don't worry about what others think. I have full confidence in your abilities. Just go ahead and bid. It's my money anyway, and it's your judgment; it has nothing to do with anyone else."
"Even if we fail, it doesn't matter. With your skills, the worst that happens is I try again next year!"
Fearing that the public discussion would affect Qin Yun's performance, Arnold took all the responsibility upon himself.
"Yeah, these people aren't even good at evaluating warehouses themselves, yet they keep chirping. It's annoying. Just treat them like barking dogs."
Julia comforted him with some indignation.
She knew that Warehouse Auctions often involved a lot of luck.
Especially when there was only a very short time to inspect the warehouse, and the warehouse might have been tampered with by the CEO.
No one could see clearly from the outside of such a warehouse; it was mostly guesswork.
But having participated in so many Warehouse Auctions with Qin Yun, she had a blind faith in him.
Julia firmly believed that Qin Yun had a reason for doing this.
As peers, most of the Treasure Hunters on the scene looked down on Qin Yun, believing the Eastern Kid's strength was nothing special.
However, many Tycoons didn't see it that way.
Qin Yun's incredible track record over the past month or so was far more exaggerated than that of many veteran Treasure Hunters.
Even if there was an element of hype, Qin Yun's skill still far exceeded that of the average person.
They also recognized several designer suitcases and felt this warehouse was worth a gamble.
So, they began to increase the price in small increments.
Walter had personally experienced Qin Yun's prowess.
In their previous contest, he had lost completely.
He had misjudged all three warehouses.
While Qin Yun hadn't missed a single one.
The difference in warehouse evaluation skill between himself and Qin Yun was like the difference between heaven and earth.
After Ronald sat down, Walter whispered in his ear, "That kid Qin Yun has some tricks up his sleeve. This warehouse definitely has something unusual about it."
"To prevent Arnold from winning, we cannot let this warehouse fall into Qin Yun's hands, no matter what."
Hearing Walter's words, Ronald frowned.
He looked down on these warehouse Treasure Hunters from the bottom of his heart.
In his eyes, they were just scavengers eating the scraps of the Storage Company; there was nothing impressive about them.
But Arnold was his rival for the promotion within the company.
He wouldn't let Qin Yun get this warehouse easily, so he nodded in agreement.
Ronald looked at Qin Yun coldly, intending to deal a fatal blow to this young man who didn't show him any respect at the critical moment.
There were only a few bidders left. After Qin Yun bid two hundred thousand, everyone shook their heads, having no intention of continuing.
The female Host then began the countdown.
"It looks like this warehouse will fall into the hands of this handsome guy. This is the last warehouse; if you're interested, grab it now, or you'll lose your chance."
"The countdown officially begins."
"Going once."
"Going twice."
"..."
Before she could say 'three times', Ronald suddenly stood up and said coldly, "I bid two hundred and fifty thousand."
Everyone was stunned when they heard Ronald's bid.
What was going on?
Didn't Ronald have a very low opinion of Qin Yun's skill? Why would he suddenly raise the price?
Could he have been lying before?
It didn't seem like it. Ronald was a big shot in the company; there was no need for him to bicker with a small character like Qin Yun.
They looked at Arnold next to Qin Yun, and those who were well-informed began to spread the word that Arnold and Ronald were rivals.
Only then did everyone realize.
Ronald didn't necessarily think the warehouse was good; he was just spending some money to make sure Qin Yun didn't get it easily.
Once they understood, everyone leaned back in their seats, watching the competition between the two sides with a spectator's mindset.
Ronald's sudden intervention was completely within Qin Yun's expectations.
When two despicable and shameless people teamed up, it would be strange if they didn't cause trouble.
There was no panic in his heart; his face remained as calm as a breeze.
"Three hundred thousand."
This time, Qin Yun didn't increase the price slowly as before; he directly raised it to three hundred thousand.
Ronald showed no sign of backing down.
He didn't care about a few hundred thousand dollars; as long as he could win this competition, even spending millions would be worth it.
If it weren't for company restrictions, he would have wanted to bid two million directly to slap Arnold and Qin Yun in the face.
Qin Yun knew that the treasure light of this warehouse was a rich purple, with even gold on the edges. Even if he used his entire budget to take this warehouse, it wouldn't be a loss.
Besides, it wasn't his money, so he was very relaxed with his bidding.
When the price reached six hundred thousand dollars, Ronald began to hesitate.
He had spent five hundred thousand on the fourth warehouse, which he estimated to be worth between six hundred thousand and eight hundred thousand dollars.
He couldn't see much value in the fifth warehouse full of suitcases.
If he spent too much money and ended up losing money in the end...
Victory in this competition would belong to Arnold.
He could not accept Arnold winning without even bidding on a single warehouse.
While Ronald was hesitating, Walter began to whisper encouragement in his ear again.
"Don't worry about the price, just bid. There's definitely something good in this warehouse!"
