138: Arrogant swindler
Julia's expression changed, not expecting this situation.
Hubert had likely encountered a scam.
The Bank Card and Invitation Card were probably both fake.
"Check if there's any money in the Bank Card now, and look up online whether the person on the Invitation Card is real."
Seeing Julia speak so confidently, Hubert quickly took out his Phone to check the Bank Card balance and the information on the Invitation Card.
Searching the card number on the bank's official website, the information received was: Sorry user, your Bank Card has been frozen due to illegal activities. For details, please call the official number.
Seeing this, Hubert's face turned pale, and he already had a bad feeling in his heart.
"This, this bastard actually dared to scam me. I'll make him pay."
Hubert spoke harshly while searching online for the information on the Invitation Card, only to find it was forged.
Online, it showed the Invitation Card belonged to someone else.
Hubert knew he had been scammed.
He bore the blame but got nothing in return, played like a fool by that person.
Instantly, his face turned pale, and he burst into tears.
"I'm innocent. If it weren't for that person, I wouldn't have had to steal."
"Here's a photo of that person. You must avenge me!"
Wiping away his tears, Hubert said fiercely.
Qin Yun watched, speechless.
Truly, the righteous path is one foot high, but the demonic path is ten feet high. The city's schemes are deep; I want to return to the countryside.
This Thief bore the greatest risk but got nothing in return.
However, he felt no sympathy for this person.
Thieves are universally despised. Ending up in this situation was his own fault.
Taking the Phone, Qin Yun sent the secretly taken photo to a friend in the relevant department.
Julia, on the other hand, chose to call the Police.
Hearing it was about catching a Fugitive, the Police arrived quickly, almost at the same time as the hotel's Person in Charge.
The Person in Charge saw the door frame had been kicked in. Such a powerful and fierce person was not someone he dared to provoke.
But due to his profession, he had to brace himself and ask questions.
Upon learning Qin Yun was catching a Thief, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
"We have an obligation to cooperate with the Police. Since the door isn't badly damaged, no compensation is needed. The maintenance department can fix it."
After speaking, the Person in Charge stood aside with the Security Guards, watching.
Julia, using her identity as a Lawyer, explained to the team leader the crimes Hubert had committed.
After leaving a Phone number, the Police didn't bother with taking a statement and escorted Hubert directly back to the Police Station.
What awaited Hubert was at least ten years of prison life.
Qin Yun and Julia returned to the car to wait for news.
In less than half an hour, the Phone received an email.
It contained all the information about that Scammer.
The Scammer was named Elsie Bowen, worked in the Financial Industry, and was involved in several Lawsuits.
His Lawsuits either ended in victory or the other party withdrew the case. However, records indicated Bowen's background was very shady.
It included the address of the Company Bowen opened with other Partners, located in Augusta.
Qin Yun and Julia drove directly to the Scammer's Company location.
Upon entering the Office, they found Bowen on the Phone with someone.
Seeing Qin Yun and Julia arrive, a look of surprise flashed in his eyes.
He had been very discreet. How did Qin Yun and Julia find their way here?
"Bowen, your instigation of Hubert to steal from the Container has been exposed. Hubert has been arrested. You'd better confess your crimes, or you'll face the harshest sanctions!"
Julia took the initiative, coldly reprimanding.
A panicked expression briefly flashed across Bowen's face. He hung up the Phone and sat confidently in the Boss's Chair.
Crossing his legs, he glanced at the two with contempt.
"Talking to me about the law?"
"In finance and fraud, I know more about the law than most seasoned Lawyers. I'm not easily fooled either. You'd better get straight to the point, or I'll have security escort you out!"
Bowen smiled, responding very calmly to Julia's questioning.
"Did you hire Hubert to steal? Hubert has already confessed. You'd better confess and receive leniency!"
Julia was furious, sharply reprimanding.
A criminal actually dared to talk about the law with her, a Lawyer. Had times changed?
"Words carry responsibility. Don't say things without evidence, or I'll sue you for slander."
"If you really have evidence, go ahead and have the Police arrest me. I'll be right here waiting."
Bowen's face was full of mockery as he replied indifferently.
Qin Yun said coldly, "We have no evidence, but you have the guts to do it but not admit it. You're quite a failure as a Scammer."
Mocked by such a young man, Bowen got angry, sat up straight, and stared at Qin Yun with an aggressive look.
"So what if I did it?"
"The thing you're looking for is with me anyway. So tell me, who's the real failure now?"
Bowen sneered coldly.
Always cautious, he didn't directly admit it to avoid leaving evidence, but the mocking tone in his words was unmistakable.
Qin Yun wasn't angered either, sitting directly on the sofa: "How about this? I'll buy what you have for Three Million Dollars. We'll sign a Consulting Agreement through a Formal Contract. You make money without committing a crime. Isn't that a win-win?"
He knew it would be hard to get the yongle encyclopedia from Bowen through legal means.
So he proposed a very sincere condition.
"Sell it to you for three million?"
"Why settle for three million when I can earn more? I've already contacted people from the Christies Auction House branch. Their terms are better."
Bowen tapped his fingers on the table repeatedly. He was starting to take Qin Yun, the Treasure Hunter, a bit more seriously.
Anyone proposing such a deal wasn't simple, but Bowen thought he hadn't exposed any flaws and hoped to make a big profit, so he didn't accept this tempting offer.
Qin Yun wasn't angry but pleased. This indicated the yongle encyclopedia was in this person's hands and well-preserved; otherwise, it wouldn't be auctioned at Christies.
"Don't bother. Items of unclear origin can't be auctioned. I think it's more beneficial for you to accept this deal."
Bowen laughed heartily, even arrogantly.
"Can't be auctioned?"
"Who do you think you are? Just a slightly famous Treasure Hunter. Christies is one of the world's most powerful Auction Houses. You're not even worth a fart in front of Christies!"
"The Christies Branch will send a Convoy to transport the items soon. You'd better get lost, or if they hear your arrogant words, they'll definitely deal with you."
Bowen had thought Qin Yun had some skills, but upon hearing Qin Yun's arrogant words, he immediately understood.
He was just a young man who knew nothing. How would a big Auction House like Christies care about a nobody's opinion?
"Let me tell you, even if what I got is black, I can whitewash it."
"Money can be laundered, let alone antiques that are already unclear. At most, they just need to pass through other hands. Your Warehouse Auctions aren't a great channel either. If I say I found it in an auctioned warehouse, who can trouble me?"
After deciding Qin Yun wasn't a threat, Bowen directly blocked the path Qin Yun mentioned.
Qin Yun thought to himself, what a guy.
No wonder he's a Scammer; his professional skills are strong, but not enough in front of him.
Qin Yun remembered a Christies Big Shot had once bought something from him.
"Let me make a call and see if Christies dares to take my stuff."
After speaking, Qin Yun took out his Phone: "I'm in Augusta. Someone says the Christies Branch here is going to take my Black Goods. You'd better come and handle this."
