102: Chapter 102 Launch Unit

Chu Ge sorted through his thoughts and found that the first two questions seemed somewhat familiar. After a moment of contemplation, he remembered.

The constraint and diversion of high-temperature plasma—wasn't that the function of the Tokamak, the core device of controlled nuclear fusion?

It turned out they had met again here, though this was slightly different from that device. This was more of an inner ring device intended for diversion, whereas the Tokamak's primary purpose was to constrain the plasma flow.

The principles were common; both used super-strong magnetic fields to control plasma flow. The difference was that one was magnetic constraint, while the other was magnetic diversion.

Chu Ge meditated for a while, thinking that was all, but when he scrolled down, there were actually several more pages.

Chu Ge continued to scroll down in confusion. The subsequent pages actually used several sheets of data to explain the third point mentioned earlier—the firing issue of the launch unit. After a quick scan, Chu Ge had an epiphany; it turned out the protagonist always appeared last.

The core of this Phased Array was not the preceding generator or rectifier, but the final launch unit.

The ultra-high-temperature plasma flow entering the combustion launch chamber through the rectifier would pass through a high-temperature condensate (a new synthetic condensate identified by the system as Ba2CuO4-fy), triggering energy transformation and an initial EM spectrum shift.

Then, before passing through the crystal (a synthetic crystal identified by the system as LiCuFe1321) emitter and being fired, the energy beam would be constrained by a collapsible charge barrier, fluctuating between 0.05 and 1.1 nanoseconds.

The switching of the charge rising and falling would trigger pulse waves, which then went through a matrix integration process before the energy beam was fired.

As for the relative ratio of proton charge to pulse frequency in the final launch stage, that was determined by the power level set by the system or the operator.

The last part concerned the direction of the phase beam's emission.

The calibrated energy beam would exit from one or more crystal faces. The firing sequence and the direction of the crystal face emission, controlled by the Phase Cannon's core functional command processor, together determined the direction of the phase beam.

Chu Ge's head throbbed as he read. This involved several new synthetic compounds and scientific fields he had never even touched upon; he didn't even know which category of experts should be assigned to research them.

This was something he hadn't encountered before.

Chu Ge pushed through and kept reading. Fortunately, the basic theoretical data for the Phase Cannon ended here. The final emitted energy beam would pass through adjacent segments via force coupling and then converge at the release point, forming a phase beam directed at the target.

Rapid firing by the launch unit would form a narrow and dense phase beam, which was when the phase beam's energy was at its most powerful.

Reducing the firing rate would form a fan-shaped or cone-shaped phase beam. Of course, the focused energy power of the phase beam would drop significantly at this time, making it more suitable for large-area obstacle clearance.

Chu Ge understood these points after a quick glance; at least he could follow this part.

Finally, he finished reading everything. Aside from the new synthetic compounds, the piping materials, combustion chamber materials, insulation, radiation shielding, and anti-corrosion materials required for the entire energy conversion process all needed to be researched and developed from scratch.

Chu Ge took a brief look at the material for the core combustion launch chamber of the launch unit: Uranium-238 alloy.

After that, Chu Ge didn't want to read any further. No wonder System Big Brother had mocked him for being impatient; this workload was truly massive. He had to quickly organize these materials, blueprints, and synthetic formulas.

Otherwise, there was no telling how long it would be delayed before the final construction blueprints could be synthesized.

Chu Ge felt immense pressure. He didn't dare move from his spot all afternoon, until the room gradually grew dark.

Chu Ge intended to make do with a quick dinner and then continue working when a knock suddenly came from the door.

"Come in!"

Chu Ge continued recording the data, not even lifting his head.

"Reporting to Academician Chu, Captain Wang Xuedong is back and is waiting for you downstairs."

"Wang Xuedong?"

Chu Ge didn't react for a moment, but then he realized and hurriedly followed the guard downstairs.

"Hello, Academician Chu!"

Wang Xuedong and Xue Zhikai stood straight and gave Chu Ge a military salute.

"You're back? Haha, it's already this late. Have you eaten?"

"Report, no."

Wang Xuedong scratched his head after speaking.

"Haha, let's go. It just so happens I haven't eaten either. We can talk while we walk. And this is? Wang Xuedong, you haven't introduced him."

Chu Ge pointed at Xue Zhikai and turned to ask Wang Xuedong.

"Academician Chu, I am from the Yanjing Armed Police Special Operations Brigade. My name is Xue Zhikai."

When Xue Zhikai heard in the cabin of the 'fat girl' that Wang Xuedong was coming to the Ordnance Research Institute, he had made up his mind to follow along, even if he had to be thick-skinned about it.

It was for no other reason than to catch a glimpse of this man who was now a household name in Huaxia.

Chu Ge shook Xue Zhikai's hand firmly. He knew they had just come from the battlefield, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration.

"Wang Xuedong, is the mission complete? Don't tell me you didn't fire a single shot from the Electromagnetic Kinetic Sniper Rifle."

Chu Ge asked half-seriously and half-jokingly.

"Academician Chu, the mission is complete. I fired several shots, haha, but I still haven't had enough."

Wang Xuedong was an honest man who didn't beat around the bush.

"Haha, that's good. When you hand over with Li Gang later, you can offer some suggestions. While it hasn't been finalized yet, there's still time to improve many things. You are the sole user of this sniper rifle, so you must write this report well."

"Yes, Academician Chu."

Chu Ge smiled and waved his hand. The three of them walked into the Research Institute's canteen. There weren't many people left; it was clearly past dinner time. Chu Ge led Wang Xuedong and the other man to Master Liu's stall.

"Master Liu, these two officers haven't eaten yet. They'll make do with whatever we have at the Research Institute. See if there's any food you can heat up for them."

"Sure thing, Academician Chu. You guys find a place to sit first, and leave the rest to me. Since you've come here, we have to make sure you fill your bellies, right?"

Master Liu was a warm-hearted person. Chu Ge scanned the canteen and walked straight to a table.

"Perfect, Li Gang is here too. You can hand over the Electromagnetic Kinetic Sniper Rifle directly to him later."

"Yes, Academician Chu."

Wang Xuedong replied as he sat down awkwardly, because he noticed there was also a beautiful female officer opposite him.

Wang Yun was also there.

"Academician Chu, so you actually remember to eat? I thought you weren't coming again. I was just discussing with Group Leader Li whether we should bring some back for you."

"Yes, yes, I can testify to that,"

Li Gang added quickly.

Wang Yun was quite happy to see Chu Ge coming to the canteen to eat of his own accord. Elder Chen had specifically instructed her to pay attention to Academician Chu's daily life, especially his diet, so that he wouldn't neglect his health due to being busy with work.

"Understood, leader. Was this arranged by Elder Chen? I'm still young; if I can't handle this level of workload, I might as well retire early, haha."

The people at the table all laughed along.

"Wang Xuedong, I forgot to ask you, why did only the two of you come over? Where are your teammates? Also, were any of our people injured in this operation?"

The last sentence was the focus of Chu Ge's concern.
