213: Chapter 213 Construction as Planned

Chu Ge, Commander Wang, and the others were also looking at the same scene. The view from the Flight Control Center was even better because its portholes were larger and provided a wider range. The portholes nearly encircled the control center, and nearly three-quarters of that circle now offered a view of the scenery outside.

"Looking at it now, it's a bit monotonous."

Chu Ge uttered slowly.

"Well, once our base is built, this place will be completely transformed," Commander Wang chimed in.

As the two were talking, Soul Blade and several others suddenly appeared directly in front of the aerospace carrier. He was raising his hand in greeting. The colorful paint of the three Mecha Warriors finally added a splash of color to the monotonous palette outside the portholes.

"Navigator, communicate with the Mecha Warriors and notify the Carrier-Based Aircraft Center that they can send out the unmanned reconnaissance drones. Have the Carrier-Based Aircraft Control Center transmit the drone data directly to the Flight Control Center."

"Yes, General Chu."

A moment later, Soul Blade's voice was patched into the speakers of the Flight Control Center.

"[Soul Blade], take your squad and coordinate with the kunpeng unmanned reconnaissance drones to circle this area a few times. They'll be responsible for detecting data; you guys mainly look for anything special, especially paying attention to ice caps, abnormal signals, and the like."

"Yes, General Chu."

Soul Blade saluted and then hovered away, with two team members following closely behind.

Commander Wang watched Chu Ge issue several orders in a row and let out a soft laugh.

"General Chu, you're showing a bit of a general's flair now."

"Ah? Haha, I got excited for a moment and forgot that you are the Fleet Commander."

"General Chu, you know that's not what I meant. In a strict sense, these aren't paramilitary operations; they're more focused on your scientific exploration and research direction. So, there was absolutely nothing wrong with your command just now."

Commander Wang waved his hand dismissively. He was telling the truth; the military had communicated in advance on these issues before the fleet departed. The construction of the Lunar Base would be guided primarily by Academician Chu's opinions, with the rest serving as support.

As the two were talking, Captain Wu's voice drew their attention.

"General Chu, Commander Wang, the holographic data model is starting to be established."

Chu Ge walked over. In the middle of the Flight Control Center was a platform about the size of a ping-pong table, displaying a data model map of the entire far side of the moon. The model was three-dimensional, utilizing holographic imaging technology.

At first glance, it looked a bit like a sand table used by an army for military operations.

At this moment, an enlarged view on the other half of the platform showed Aitken Basin, where they had landed. Through the data gathered by the unmanned reconnaissance drones, a highly accurate data model was slowly being built.

Through the drone's scanner-like reconnaissance, every crater in this area, every shallow trench on the surface, and every mountain range was revealed without error.

Watching the gradually perfecting data model, Chu Ge nodded involuntarily. This model was exactly the map model he wanted.

"General Chu, it seems like our current spot is the only relatively flat area around here. Look, it's surrounded by mountain ranges, although they don't look very high," Commander Wang said to Chu Ge, pointing at the model.

Chu Ge nodded. The far side of the moon was naturally not as flat as the near side.

The group watched the data model become complete before their eyes. Suddenly, the Navigator nearby reported a communication request from Soul Blade. Once approved, Soul Blade's voice came through.

[General Chu, everything around here is normal. No anomalies found, except for one area I can't detect. It seems capable of shielding all my reconnaissance methods.]

"Understood. Record its specific boundaries."

[Received!]

"Have you observed anything like an ice cap?" Chu Ge remembered the detection data from the previous lunar orbiter and hurriedly asked Soul Blade.

[Not yet. I am expanding the search area...]

"Good."

After reporting, Soul Blade cut off the call on his own. Chu Ge looked at an area of the model and fell into deep thought.

"General Chu, is the area Soul Blade mentioned the same abnormal area our satellite detected before?" Commander Wang asked from the side.

"Most likely. Let's ignore it for now and wait until our prospecting equipment is up. Arrange for the construction teams to enter the field. Following the construction plan we discussed earlier, tell them to prioritize safety."

"Alright, I'll go arrange it now."

As Commander Wang spoke, he left the area and walked toward the Third Captain. The two began to specifically direct the construction personnel into the field.

Progress would be relatively slow while installing the basic bridge cranes. Once the bridge cranes for the unloading dock and the Lunar Base were all installed, the construction speed would increase significantly.

By then, some operations could be conducted via remote command. Engineering personnel wouldn't even need to stay on the lunar surface; they would only need to operate based on data prompts and on-site video monitoring.

"Commander Wang, according to our previous calculations, it is currently the lunar polar day. The alternation between polar day and polar night is about 180 days, which means we have, at most, less than half a year for the construction period."

"Otherwise, once the lunar night falls, we will enter a period of eternal night. Even with searchlight equipment set up, construction efficiency will drop significantly."

"I understand. The workload is not small."

"On the premise of ensuring quality, be as fast as possible!"

"Understood, no problem."

...

While Chu Ge and the others were working hard on the moon, American intelligence agencies were also busy collecting information on China's anomalies.

John Wilson was leisurely drinking coffee when a subordinate rushed in. He started, and coffee immediately spilled all over the table. Complaining about the subordinate, he stood up, grabbed a few tissues, and began to wipe it up.

"Chief, our satellites have detected that China's aerospace carrier seems to have gone on some special mission."

"Oh? Tell me the details." John stopped wiping. Clearly, the content of the subordinate's report had piqued his interest.

"Satellite reconnaissance shows that at 9:00 AM yesterday in Beijing, their kunpeng and another giant spaceship took off and then flew rapidly toward outer space. Three small spaceships joined them midway. Once in outer space, their speed was extremely fast, and they soon moved beyond our monitoring area."

"The Atlantic Air Defense Command Center immediately activated space Telescopes and backup space monitoring satellites. Based on the signals, we only roughly determined their final position. Now, we have lost track of them."

John's subordinate finished the report in one breath. John Wilson frowned, a bit confused about the situation. Had the Chinese fleet gone to attack aliens?

"Where was the last position they disappeared from?" he suddenly remembered something and asked anxiously.

"The Moon."

"SHIT, the Chinese went to the moon behind our backs. God knows what they are doing now. I have to report this situation to the Director. If I'm too late, we might not be able to do anything."

John Wilson spoke as he grabbed the intelligence documents from the table and ran out. In the office, his subordinate was still standing there in a daze...
