158: Chapter 158 Abnormal Pulse Signals

Chu Ge looked at the file folder containing the Intermediate Gene Medicine and suddenly remembered something.

"Old Chen, has the military started the screening process for the Heavenly Army selection yet?"

"Yes, it started a long time ago. It began across the entire military first. The biological agent you provided has already started to take effect. The body's ability to cooperate with the medicine to produce a drug reaction is the most important and fundamental rule of the screening process."

"Then come the engineers from various industries, following the same rules as the military. Once all of this is done, it will probably take a few months."

Academician Chen finished speaking and looked at Chu Ge, seemingly waiting for him to continue asking questions.

Chu Ge had studied that mass-distributed Gene Medicine; it only improved some of the physiological reactions of the resident personnel and did not lean heavily toward genetic mutation.

It was completely different from the one the System Big Brother gave him. His reagent felt more like it was heading in the direction of mutation, with the adjustment of original bodily functions being more of an auxiliary effect.

"How are the reactions? Are there any obvious side effects?" This was what Chu Ge cared about; the safety of things like medicine needs to be determined through a certain amount of cumulative data.

The fact that he himself had no reaction didn't prove anything.

"None at all. I've seen the feedback. Everyone described it as if they had taken a powerful tonic; their physical state improved significantly. Even among those who were eliminated, I haven't heard of any adverse reactions."

Chu Ge nodded after hearing this. It seemed System Big Brother was quite reliable after all.

As the two were talking, there was a knock at the door. Academician Chen walked over quickly, and following him in were several men over the age of fifty, with a few young people behind them.

"This is Director Hu from the Space Administration, and this is Engineer Xu, who is in charge of satellite telemetry and control. Those behind them are their capable assistants. As for this person here, I don't think I need to introduce him, haha." Academician Chen said, pointing at Chu Ge.

"No need, no need. If anyone doesn't know Academician Chu, then they are either blind in their eyes or blind in their hearts, haha."

"Haha, experts, please wait a moment. I'll notify them, and we'll head to the conference room right now."

After Chu Ge greeted the several heads of the aerospace department one by one, Academician Chen was also about ready. The group didn't waste any time and headed straight to the conference room.

There weren't many participants, so Academician Chen arranged a smaller conference room, which was more conducive to communication.

Once everyone was seated, Academician Chen spoke up.

"Alright, let's skip the tedious formalities and get straight to the point. Director Hu, please introduce the situation on your end to everyone."

"Alright. According to our previous planning, the Lunar Base is to be located on the far side of the moon. Everyone knows that the far side of the moon is very different from the near side. The most intuitive difference is the impact craters; the coverage of relatively flat lunar maria on the near side can reach 31.2%, while on the far side, this figure drops to 2.5%."

"By comparing recent satellite data with previous circumlunar satellite photos and the geochemical maps fed back by gamma-ray spectroscopy, we have generally identified a few locations because their geology is extremely rich in several heavy metals."

"It is quite suitable to choose a spot in their vicinity as our Lunar Base. They are the Sea of Serenity and Ocean of Storms on the near side of the moon, and the South Pole-Aitken Basin on the far side."

At this moment, Director Hu's assistant had already connected their computer to the multimedia screen in the conference room. The screen displayed gray-and-white images, which were high-definition photos of the near and far sides of the moon.

"It seems our comrades at the Space Administration still have their own opinions regarding the site selection, haha." Academician Chen said, looking at Chu Ge.

Chu Ge didn't see Academician Chen's gaze; he was focused intently on the photos on the screen. Many of these photos were not available to the public.

Chu Ge was mesmerized. This surface appearance, which didn't look particularly beautiful in reality, looked better and better to him now!

"Haha, to be honest with you, Old Chen, there were indeed different opinions before, for various reasons. First of all, the Sea of Serenity and Ocean of Storms on the near side have extremely high contents of titanium, iron, and nickel; this is no longer a secret."

"Previously, through the comprehensive use of multi-source remote sensing data analysis such as spectra, topography, and elements, it was found that high-grade, high-titanium deposits are also distributed in this area."

"What else? These are just data points." Academician Chen asked with a smile.

"There is also the terrain; this area is more suitable for lunar work vehicles because the terrain is relatively flat. The last point is that because of tidal locking, the near side, which always faces us, is the focus of scientists' research; it is relatively more familiar and easier for us to get started with."

Director Hu didn't hold anything back and laid out all their previous thoughts.

"And what about now?"

"Now, it's hard to say. The focus of the data anomaly I want to talk about is also right here."

As Director Hu spoke, he began to operate the computer. Following his actions, a photo of the far side of the moon appeared on the multimedia screen, and he drew a circle on it.

"The Von Kármán crater, located in the middle of the South Pole-Aitken Basin on the far side of the moon—everyone is familiar with this—is the oldest impact crater in the entire Solar System, with an age of about 3.6 billion years. It preserves the most primitive lunar crustal rocks and may contain water components. It has extremely high scientific research value, and scientists have always suspected that there is water there."

"Furthermore, NASA has long discovered that the composition and structure beneath this impact crater are quite abnormal; there is a huge metallic foreign object with a weight of about 2.1 quadrillion tons."

"Previously, scientists analyzed that this huge metal object might be the key to the magnetic field anomaly on the far side of the moon. This magnetic field is very special; currently, the main anomaly is that it can shield various radio waves from Earth."

"These anomalies were all widely known before, but what I am about to say is the main point."

Director Hu continued to operate the computer for a while, and some complex spectral images appeared on the screen.

"This is the monitoring data sent back by our Yutu-4 in the South Pole-Aitken Basin. This is a set of spectral images similar to mechanical waves..." Director Hu was interrupted by Academician Chen before he could finish.

"Wait, Director Hu, if I remember correctly, mechanical waves cannot propagate in a vacuum; they require some specific medium."

"Oh, this is also a rather interesting point. Due to the moon's weak gravity and magnetic field, it is close to a vacuum state, but there are a few special places, namely its North and South Poles."

"Since there is spectral data here, it indicates that a certain amount of atmosphere or water exists. We suspect that because these two places are located in craters or canyons and are permanently shielded from sunlight, they have retained certain ancient gases or even water resources."

"As long as one of these two media exists, our spectral recorder will work."

Everyone nodded after hearing this, while also expressing astonishment. This was a major discovery in the scientific community.

"Through our analysis over the past few days, this spectrum has revealed a fact that we cannot believe."

"First of all, this spectrum is the pulse signal spectrum detected by the photoelectric spectrometer on the Yutu-4. Through the tested pulse envelope, we obtained the envelope signal of this radio frequency pulse. Through further analysis of the envelope signal, we obtained parameters such as pulse width, period, rise time, intra-pulse peak power, and intra-pulse average power."

"We finally discovered that these parameters actually have a very high degree of overlap with the relevant parameters of our Nuclear Fusion Engine."

Upon hearing this, Chu Ge's eyes suddenly lit up.
