229: Chapter 229 Leap Engine

"I'm here, what's wrong?" Chu Ge replied hurriedly.

"Please come to the rear of the ship immediately, we have made a major discovery!"

"Okay, I'm on my way there."

Chu Ge felt relieved. With this kind of sudden alarm, he had thought they had discovered some aliens.

Speaking of aliens, Chu Ge suddenly remembered that they seemed to have overlooked this issue.

"Captain Gong, have you found anything special, like ship crew, um, or perhaps remains and the like?"

With the hull twisted like this, Chu Ge estimated that there wouldn't be any survivors left.

"No, the life detector didn't have any reaction, and the drones didn't find anything either."

"Uh, the life detector isn't very useful. It searches based on the radio wave and electric field characteristics of known species."

"You know the life characteristics of aliens?" Captain Gong rubbed his head.

"Thinking about this ship now, many aspects don't make sense."

"Setting aside the lack of crew remains, how did it get to this depth of over 2000 meters underground?"

"The rock structure above has been destroyed, yet it hasn't collapsed. Is it because of the lunar environment? Or is it because of the ship itself?"

As Chu Ge spoke, he pointed to the pitch-black wreckage beside him.

As they moved further and further away from the Energy Ball, the surrounding light grew dimmer.

Slowly, the only light left was the beam from the searchlight on their helmets.

"It's in this state now, even if it had some superpowers, it wouldn't be able to use them anymore, right?" Captain Gong replied to Chu Ge.

"No, it's not completely scrapped. There's still that Energy Ball; perhaps all the answers lie with it."

After Chu Ge finished speaking, he went quiet. He was actually surprised by what he had said subconsciously.

Chu Ge thought about it for a long time but couldn't figure it out, so he simply stopped thinking about it. He looked at the boundless darkness ahead.

"Captain Gong, the area around this wreckage seems very flat."

"Yeah."

"Interested in a race?"

"Huh?"

"A 5-kilometer cross-country run."

"..."

As soon as Chu Ge finished speaking, he started running. If they kept walking, who knew how long it would take to get there.

Captain Gong stood stunned in place for a long time, watching Chu Ge's helmet light get further and further away, before he finally hurried to catch up.

Chu Ge ran the whole way in one breath, and Captain Gong and his team behind him were already long gone.

Only now did Chu Ge confirm that the Gene Medicine provided by the Military-Industrial System wasn't just for show.

In the distance, several soldiers were gathered in front of a small hill, commenting on it.

Being alert, they sensed Chu Ge's presence from far away.

"Alert!"

"It's me, what are you all studying?"

As Chu Ge approached, the soldiers saw that it was him and lowered their Electromagnetic Pulse Rifles.

Then they looked at Chu Ge as if they had seen a ghost.

"General Chu, you came by yourself? How long has it been? Even sprinting at full speed over this distance, one could barely make it."

The team leader asked with some surprise after glancing at the time.

"What is this?"

Chu Ge didn't answer him directly but changed the subject.

"Oh, right, these experts say this is very likely the engine of this spaceship."

"Is that so?"

Chu Ge started to examine this giant mountain; it was hard to tell anything from a distance.

Only when he got close did he realize that this thing was truly huge. The reason it wasn't as shocking from a distance was that he had only seen its height.

The width of this wreckage was much greater than its height, belonging to a flattened frame structure.

What they could see at the moment was only a part of it, possibly thrown out, and a large part of the cross-section was still inside the ship's hull.

Chu Ge suppressed his inner ecstasy. He remembered that the Warp Engine that hadn't yet been installed on the aerospace carrier also had this structure.

This was indeed the engine of this giant spaceship, and a Warp Engine at that.

After Chu Ge had circled the exposed half of the engine several times, Captain Gong finally arrived.

The squad of soldiers behind him was still nowhere to be seen.

Watching Chu Ge, who was already immersed in work and didn't look winded at all, Captain Gong began to question his life.

"It makes no sense. I'm the individual all-around champion of the Northern Theater Command's military competition."

"I actually got crushed by General Chu in the 5-kilometer cross-country run, the most basic physical training?"

"How long has General Chu been here?" Captain Gong secretly switched his communication mode.

"Eight minutes. I specifically checked the time when he arrived, that's correct."

A soldier behind Captain Gong replied.

"A 5-kilometer cross-country run in 14 minutes??? In this light, in this environment?"

On Earth, only the most elite special forces soldiers could reach this standard.

Captain Gong could certainly reach it, and perhaps even do it faster, but this was not Earth.

It took him nearly 22 minutes to arrive. Is he even human? Captain Gong was completely convinced.

He had no intention of looking at any new discoveries; he was debating whether to ask General Chu.

How did he do it?

...

"How many such engines are there in total?"

After carefully examining every corner of the engine, Chu Ge asked the expert who was also busy nearby.

"We can't see the ones too far inside. According to the footage transmitted by the drones, we can see 8 of them."

"And a few of them still look quite intact on the outside."

The middle-aged expert looked at Chu Ge with some excitement after saying this.

"Hmm, this engine is of immense value. Once the equipment on the lunar surface comes down, prioritize clearing this area."

"Yes, Academician Chu."

After speaking, Chu Ge turned his head to look at the pitch-black engine wreckage in front of him again.

Based on his understanding of the Warp Engine, once he figured out the principle of how this spaceship obtained and utilized dark matter...

The Warp Engine would soon be available.

Then the next plan would turn into planting a flag in the Milky Way. Chu Ge almost laughed out loud.

This was truly a pie falling from the sky, and it fell at just the right time.

He couldn't wait to tell Commander Wang, Old Long, and the others about this news immediately...

Feeling delighted, Chu Ge turned to look at Captain Gong, only to find Captain Gong staring at him with a resentful look.

"Oh, Captain Gong, you're here? Not bad, the soldiers behind haven't arrived yet; I can tell you're the captain."

"..."

Captain Gong felt his heart ache faintly several times, "Puff, puff, puff."

"Alright, there's nothing else to see here. Once the deep well project is completed and the large equipment comes down, we'll come back."

"Yes, Academician Chu."

After answering, the experts prepared to pack up the instruments they had previously set up.

"Take the image data back to the aerospace carrier. Leave the other equipment here for now; it's still useful, and it's quite tiring to move it back and forth."

Although they were all sensitive equipment, this wasn't Earth after all, and no one would steal them.

Under these circumstances, carrying heavy loads tested a person's willpower. He wanted his team members to focus their attention on this alien spaceship.

Everything else was secondary.

Just as Chu Ge and his team were ready and about to head back, the few soldiers who had been left behind by him and Captain Gong finally arrived late.

Hearing that they were about to head back, they immediately turned around in unison, but their eyes were all looking at Captain Gong.

Captain Gong shrugged, "Go do what you need to do, I'm still full of questions myself!"

The team thus headed back without stopping...
