201: Chapter 201 Surprise
The translator was sensible; a translation job was just a task that could easily be replaced if lost, but offending the famous Academician Chu of Huaxia would have unpredictable consequences.
"Captain Gong, throw them out of the base. I don't want to see them again."
"Yes, Academician Chu. The relevant departments have already been notified."
Chu Ge suddenly let go, causing Li Guangrong to stumble and nearly fall face-first. He scrambled to his feet, wanting to say something, but when his gaze met Chu Ge's eyes, he swallowed his words back down.
Soon, a group of military police wearing white caps arrived. The leader ran up to Chu Ge and gave a military salute first.
"Hello, Colonel Chu! Are you alright?"
"I'm fine."
"Understood. Leave them to us; we will hand them over to the relevant departments."
Chu Ge nodded, and Captain Gong and his men let go. Seeing the military police arrive, Li Guangrong and his group momentarily regained some of their bravado and began blabbering in their language.
Chu Ge frowned; he couldn't even be bothered to ask System Big Brother for a translation. It wasn't worth it.
The military police didn't tolerate their behavior, handing out silver handcuffs to each of them and shoving them away. Even as Li Guangrong was being led out of the performance area, he didn't forget to turn back and glare fiercely at Chu Ge.
"Tsk tsk, I step away for a moment and you're already here playing the hero saving the beauty?"
Chu Ge turned around to see Dilireba Nazha standing behind him at some point, with Will Smith standing beside her.
"Chu, I didn't know you knew Huaxia Kung Fu. You have to teach me when you have time."
"Haha, I don't know any Kung Fu. It was just brute force."
Chu Ge indeed didn't know Kung Fu. Thanks to the Gene Medicine, his strength was immense; he had only used about forty percent of his power just now. Had he used his full strength, Li Guangrong's arm would likely have been ruined.
"Smith, let me introduce you. This is my fiancée."
"Hello, Mr. Smith."
"Hello, beautiful lady..."
The three of them walked toward their seats while chatting and laughing. Yu Mengmeng reached out a hand but then lowered it, her eyes full of gratitude as she stared fixedly at Chu Ge.
Her assistant nudged her from the side.
"Let's go. We need to go backstage and get you sorted out; the performance is starting soon."
"Mm."
At Chu Ge's side, after the three were seated, Dilireba Nazha turned to look at the departing Yu Mengmeng.
"Her name is Yu Mengmeng. She was an intern in Country H before returning home a few years ago. She's quite popular now. Should I introduce you? I saw her looking at you the whole time. Mengmeng is a great beauty, you know."
"It was just a small favor. This is Huaxia; how could I let him run wild here? Hm? Really? I didn't look closely just now..."
As Chu Ge spoke, he started to turn his head, only to be pulled back. Smith watched their interaction and smiled, turning his gaze elsewhere.
"That man is called Li Guangrong, the crown prince of a Country H conglomerate. He's someone who can practically cover the sky with one hand in Country H."
Dilireba Nazha continued her introduction.
"Does that have anything to do with me?"
"Well, I suppose it doesn't. He messed with the wrong person today. Since you're not going to Country H, it doesn't really matter."
Dilireba Nazha shrugged, preparing to find Smith for some gossip.
"Listen to you, making it sound like I'm some bad kid or a local tyrant. I'm someone about to head for the Solar System; a mere Country H..."
Chu Ge didn't continue. He really seemed to have no reason to visit that country.
The concert started on time. Dilireba Nazha and the others went to prepare for their performances. Before leaving, Will Smith tucked a business card into Chu Ge's hand, telling him to definitely get in touch if he ever went to Hollywood.
Chu Ge agreed with a smile, thinking to himself that he had no reason to go to Hollywood, though he did put the card away.
Chu Ge began to watch the concert intently until Captain Gong came to find him. After the two whispered for a bit, Chu Ge stood up and followed Captain Gong outside...
In a small dark room at the D City Public Security Bureau, Li Guangrong and his group were being temporarily detained.
"Lü, did you say that man's name was Chu Ge?"
"Yes, Chu Ge, Academician Chu. He is Huaxia's youngest Academician. He presided over the construction of the aerospace carrier. He is currently the most popular figure in Huaxia."
"That's why I told you not to get into a conflict with him. After all, this is Huaxia."
Li Guangrong nodded, his eyes suddenly turning cold and sinister.
"Fine. Just don't let me run into him in Country H. He can act all high and mighty here, but in Country H—humph, crushing him would be no different from crushing an ant."
"Lü, what do we do now?"
"Don't worry, Huaxia won't touch us. After all, you are a public figure; they have to consider the factors involving Country H."
"This isn't actually a major issue. We just need to get a letter of forgiveness from that Huaxia girl and pay a fine. I've already notified the embassy; they will handle it."
The translator was very familiar with Huaxia's public security management regulations.
"Actually, this wouldn't have been so troublesome. If Academician Chu hadn't been involved, you could have walked away completely unscathed and might still be at the concert right now."
The casual remark from the man named Lü made the hatred in Li Guangrong's heart grow even stronger. He firmly memorized the name Chu Ge.
...
Chu Ge sneezed before entering the door. He looked at Captain Gong with a bit of embarrassment and then pushed the door open.
"Colonel Chu, we were just waiting for you."
Chu Ge looked around the room. It was filled with military bigwigs. Elder Long and Academician Chen were also there. Chu Ge was a bit puzzled; hadn't they just finished a meeting at noon?
"Elder Long, did we forget to discuss something at noon?" Chu Ge asked directly after sitting down.
"Yes, we did forget something. Come, I'll take you somewhere."
Elder Long stood up after speaking. Academician Chen and the others also rose. As the group walked out, Chu Ge sidled up to Academician Chen.
"Old Chen, what's going on? Why all the mystery..."
"You'll know in a moment. By the way, I heard there was a small problem at the concert?"
"Yeah, a Country H guy came here to act out. I've already handed him over to the military police."
Academician Chen nodded and smiled, continuing to walk forward without addressing Chu Ge's question.
Chu Ge was confused but simply followed Elder Long and the others until they stopped in front of a building. Chu Ge looked up; it was the base auditorium.
A row of guards was currently standing in front of the auditorium. Upon seeing Elder Long and Chu Ge, the guards all saluted.
Entering the auditorium, Chu Ge realized that the entire place was packed, and every single person was a soldier.
Elder Long paused, gestured to Chu Ge, and walked straight toward the rostrum. Chu Ge, still in a daze, could only brace himself and follow.
When Chu Ge followed Elder Long to the center of the rostrum, he realized that Commander Meng, Commander Wang, and the others hadn't followed. At this moment, only he and Elder Long were on stage.
Elder Long turned to face Chu Ge and carefully straightened his military uniform. Chu Ge leaned down to look; he had specifically worn this uniform today, as it wouldn't have felt right not to wear it on such a day.
When his gaze fell upon what was in Elder Long's hands, he thought, 'Wait, those look like my shoulder tabs...'
At this point, Chu Ge seemed to understand something...
