136: Chapter 136 Victor is questioned

Moscow, the capital of Russia, saw crowds of tourists at the Red Kremlin Square on the banks of the Moskva River.

After Viktor got off the plane, he was driven directly here by a special vehicle. He didn't even have time to admire Russia's center of power along the way, as the federal agent leading him walked very fast. Passing through the magnificent St. George's Hall, they turned into the inner court, winding through corridors until Viktor was about to get dizzy, arriving at a very ordinary office door.

The guide stopped, and one of them turned to signal Viktor to wait. Then, he knocked on the door in a rhythmic pattern. After receiving permission, he slipped inside and quickly came back out, nodding to the other agents.

The agents nearby began checking Viktor's pockets and motioned for him to put down his backpack. They then used a device to carefully scan every part of him. A few minutes later,

"Alright, you can go in. Leave your backpack outside; it will be returned to you when you leave."

The agents stood outside the door and spoke to Viktor with serious expressions.

Viktor, after all, was part of the system and was not surprised by such occasions. He nodded, straightened his clothes, and pushed the door open.

He was surprised; he had thought some leader wanted to see him, but after entering, he found a group of people waiting for him.

"Lieutenant Viktor Ivanovich Ivanov, fighter pilot from the Mishersky Air Force Base of the Southern Army Group, reporting to the leaders!"

Viktor saluted respectfully.

"Mhm, Comrade Lieutenant, please sit down and speak."

A young military officer wearing Yanjing replied.

"Your superiors should have informed you before you came. Don't be nervous; we are just interested in the video you took; as for other matters, we have no interest in interfering. So, Comrade Viktor, where is the phone with the video?"

The young officer got straight to the point. Viktor also knew why they had brought him here. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his phone, pulled up the video, and handed it over.

The young officer took it, stood up, and walked to the side where there was a large screen. After some operation, he turned around, walked back, and pressed a button on the remote control.

The video from the phone appeared before everyone. The [Soul Blade] video, which had already been watched to death by YouTube users, was played once more in this mysterious office.

The video ended quickly. The young officer stood up, unplugged the phone, whispered a few words to someone nearby, and that person left with Viktor's phone.

The young officer walked back to his seat, sat across from Viktor, and looked at him with a smile.

"Comrade Lieutenant, did you witness the contents of this video with your own eyes?"

"Yes, there were many of our officials at the scene, and they can also testify."

"Mhm, we will verify that one by one. We just want to know more details. Can you tell us everything you saw that day from beginning to end?"

"Of course."

Viktor had scanned the room earlier and indeed recognized a few big figures, including the Director of the Russian Federal Liaison and Intelligence Service. This intelligence agency was no simple matter; its predecessor was the famous KGB.

Viktor stated the sequence of events before and after the exercise that day and tried his best to reconstruct the details of those sudden situations, especially the two missing F-16s and the two subsequent explosions. These seemed suspicious to him, so he emphasized them.

After several dozen minutes, Viktor stopped talking. He thought back and indicated that nothing should have been missed.

The young officer nodded. At this time, the person who had left earlier knocked and entered, handed the phone to the young officer, leaned down to whisper a few more words, and then turned to sit back in his seat.

The young officer handed the phone to Viktor.

"Comrade Lieutenant, as required, we need to permanently delete your original video. Do you have any objections?"

"None!"

Viktor replied immediately, spitting inwardly, "Do I damn well dare to have an objection?"

"Good. And to your knowledge, did any of the other Russians who went with you record videos or take photos?"

"There shouldn't be any!"

"Mhm, alright, that's all for today. Go with the agents outside for now; they will arrange accommodation for you. You cannot go back today, as we might have more questions for you. You can leave by tomorrow afternoon at the latest. Any problems?"

"None!"

The young officer nodded and made a gesture of invitation. Viktor quickly stood up and walked toward the door; he didn't want to stay in this oppressive office for a single second longer.

The true big shots hadn't said a word from start to finish, which made him both frustrated and relieved. Being here, as long as the big shots didn't express any opinion, it meant he hadn't even caught their eye.

The outcome of catching their eye was intense: either a promotion or vanishing without a trace. Viktor felt he didn't yet have the ability to be personally promoted by the Director, so at this moment, he felt a sense of relief instead.

After Viktor left, the office finally felt a bit more lively. Everyone discussed the video footage in low voices.

"What do you think about this? We must reach a conclusion here today; the President is waiting for my report."

Zhukovsky, the Director of the Federal Intelligence Service, tapped the table and asked.

"Those two F-16s were clearly shot down. As for whether the Mecha Warrior shot them down, although there is no direct evidence to judge, I think the possibility is extremely high. This means they have made significant improvements in armor protection, artificial intelligence, energy storage, power technology, and so on. It's not just an improvement; it's likely a leap forward."

The young officer was the first to speak, and his angle was very sharp. Everyone nodded after hearing him.

"Are there any statements from G Istanbul? Or any actions?"

"No, it's very quiet. According to the intelligence analysis from colleagues there, Country G has sent a high-level investigation team. One person has a very special identity: a Special Ambassador, who is also one of their few brain trusts."

"This is very interesting. However, I believe news will be released soon. Let's observe for now."

Zhukovsky's hawk-like eyes showed a hint of a smile, which quickly returned to his usual coldness.

"Ignore the Mecha Warrior for now; we just need to keep an eye on it. They seem to have made rapid progress in many military technologies recently. Pay more attention to the person behind it and don't worry about anything else for now. After all, the two countries are currently in their most intimate period in history."

"As for the exercise, we need to discuss it with the countries involved. After all, the exercise was led by our two countries. Such blatant sabotage is a naked provocation against both our nations. See if we can get involved and investigate this matter with them."
