85: Chapter 85 Injectable Drugs

No sooner had Chu Ge stepped into his office than several guards followed him in, carrying those crates.

Without a word, Chu Ge quickly opened all the crates, gathered all the bottles and jars together, and carefully identified the category of their ingredients.

Once classified, Chu Ge began mixing them according to the proportions given by System Big Brother. The process was very simple; in no time, a bottle of pale blue serum appeared before him.

Chu Ge looked at the blue liquid in the test tube. The powders quickly dissolved entirely into the serum's composition, leaving no impurities visible; it was crystal clear.

"System Big Brother, I remember you saying that after injecting this thing, I have to sleep for 24 hours, right? It can't be interrupted? What happens if it is? It won't be like in the TV shows where, uh, I suffer from qi deviation or something, right?"

[What is qi deviation like? It's nothing if it gets interrupted; you just start over from the beginning. Just trigger the reward mechanism first!]

Upon hearing this, Chu Ge immediately shook his head.

"Heh, you call that a reward? I've never heard of a reward that comes with a deduction. I spent a long time thinking about it after I got back before I realized it. You were just fooling me!"

[...]

Chu Ge stopped paying attention to System Big Brother, put down the serum, rummaged through the crates for a long time, and finally found a syringe in one of them.

This syringe was made of metal, not the ordinary plastic kind found on the market. Chu Ge examined it for a long time, but when he took a close look at the needle tip, he instantly shuddered, and his whole being felt wrong.

"Is this damn thing meant for human injection? Why does it feel so much like the thing they use to give shots to pigs back in my hometown? It seems like those veterinarians' syringes are also metal."

Chu Ge didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He wanted to go make a phone call immediately—nothing else, just to swap it for a thinner needle.

In the end, his reason suppressed the impulse. It's just a bit thicker, right? A real man...

Chu Ge gestured with the needle again, then decisively put it down. The more he gestured, the more he wanted to back out. Chu Ge checked the time and simply headed toward the cafeteria.

Eating was more important.

Chu Ge shoveled rice from his tray while his mind was still on the needle.

"Academician Chu, we really can't get into your new office. We've gone a few times, but we were stopped outside by the guards. No matter how we pleaded, they just wouldn't let us in."

Yan Tianhao said while eating, and Zheng Jun next to him nodded along.

"Yeah, I just found out too. It was arranged by Elder Chen. You don't need to bring me food anymore; I'll try my best to come to the cafeteria to eat and meet up with you all. If there's anything urgent, call my office."

"By the way, Zheng Jun, how is the Quantum project progressing?"

Chu Ge had been thinking about the needle earlier and only just noticed that Zheng Jun was there today. It felt like he hadn't seen this brilliant student in a long time.

"Quantum Communication is basically fine now. The solution you provided is practically a skeleton key; all problems have been solved easily. The first generation can be taken directly to the military for use. Right now, we are working on derivative fields and the matching issues with your sub-project for the Aerospace Aircraft Carrier."

"However, according to the technical requirements you provided, there is still a significant gap for the Quantum Computer. But we have established a joint cooperation team and are preparing to replicate some of the experience from Quantum Communication onto the Quantum Computer. It should have an effect."

Zheng Jun finished in one breath, succinctly summarizing the progress and current problems of both projects. Chu Ge nodded with satisfaction after hearing this.

"Not bad, you know how to be flexible. Zheng Jun has made great progress. You all should learn from him. Later on, I'll have a lot of things to deal with here and will inevitably be stretched thin. The problems within your respective groups will mainly have to be solved by yourselves, unless it's a technical hurdle that you cannot overcome."

"Yes, Academician Chu!"

After Chu Ge finished speaking, he prepared to quickly finish his meal and then go back to close his eyes and jab himself with a needle.

"By the way, Academician Chu, my individual weapon system is almost ready. What about the big item you mentioned?"

Li Gang had waited for a long time without Chu Ge looking for him, so he simply asked himself.

"Oh, huh? Big item? What big item?"

Chu Ge didn't react for a moment.

"The big item on the Aerospace Aircraft Carrier, the one you mentioned last time."

"Oh, didn't you complain about the frequent changes? That big project has been on hold. It won't be too late to put it back on the agenda when we're both free."

Chu Ge remembered; it was the armament system for the aerospace carrier. This was the next project he had prepared for Li Gang, but he had been busy participating in the construction of the dry dock recently and simply hadn't had time to organize it.

"Hey, Academician Chu, you can't hold a grudge. You know I was just joking."

Li Gang got a little anxious.

"Haha, I know. You know how it is—I've been busy planning the dry dock these past two days, so how would I have time? Do you really think I have three heads and six arms? If I really had three heads and six arms, would you guys still be able to sit here?"

Chu Ge couldn't help laughing when he said this.

"Li Gang, I probably won't have time these next two days either. You focus on finishing the project at hand first; I won't leave you idle."

Li Gang readily agreed. Chu Ge had also eaten enough, so he greeted them and left. Chu Ge was full and felt like he was full of strength—ptui, rather, courage.

Chu Ge strolled slowly back to his office. The guards saluted one after another. Just as Chu Ge was about to go upstairs, he suddenly turned back.

"Captain Gong? Why are you here?"

Captain Gong was indeed in the line of guards; Chu Ge hadn't noticed at first.

"Academician Chu, there are more guards now, so we, the secret guards, can take turns. Always hiding in the corners is stifling, isn't it? Haha."

"Haha, Captain Gong, it's rare to see you smile like that. We've been together for so long, and you've always kept a straight face, making me almost think you were some kind of robot."

"Academician Chu, you're teasing me again. Go on up and get busy; our people are all around, so you can rest assured about safety."

"Speaking of which, I just remembered something. Captain Gong, from now on, for the next 24 hours, no one is allowed to come up and disturb me. Even if Elder Chen comes, ask him to graciously wait for me a while. I have something very important to do. Can you complete this mission?"

Chu Ge rarely spoke to the people around him this way, but today he had no choice; otherwise, those 500 million prestige points would really be wasted.

"Yes, I guarantee the mission will be accomplished."

Captain Gong immediately stood at attention and saluted without the slightest hesitation. The guards around him also followed suit and saluted Chu Ge.

Chu Ge solemnly returned the military salute and then strode upstairs.

Chu Ge had intentionally eaten his fill tonight—the kind where he stuffed his mouth. 24 hours, hmm, in any case, he couldn't be a starving ghost.

"I don't know how effective this thing is. Does it immediately enter standby mode, or is it like a sleeping pill?"

Chu Ge held up the large syringe, talking to himself while pacing the floor. In the end, he obediently sat on the bed; he didn't want to wake up frozen and paralyzed.

He mimicked the way a nurse gives an injection, drawing the blue serum in and then pushing out the air.

Next, Chu Ge didn't look at the needle again. Hardening his heart, he struck with the needle and quickly pressed the serum in. Before he could curse at the pain, a wave of dizziness suddenly struck him.

Chu Ge fell straight back onto the little nest he had prepared for himself.
