121: Chapter 121 Returning to the Experimental Base

Chu Ge and the others had intended to return to the base first, but seeing how enthusiastic Dai Lin and his group were, they decided to stay and chat with them at the airport.

"Academician Chu, everyone says you're like a god now. With one piece of equipment after another for the Army and Navy, how come there's nothing for our Air Force?"

As Dai Lin became more familiar with Chu Ge, his habit of being a big-mouth started again.

"Air Force? Don't you have it? Strictly speaking, the aerospace carrier 'kunpeng' belongs to the Air Force, and it's a behemoth-class vessel. Isn't that much cooler than Division Commander Wang's individual equipment?"

"Haha, Academician Chu, don't drag me into this. Our base security forces don't have a single piece of new equipment yet. I've submitted countless reports, but there's still no word."

As Division Commander Wang Yi said this, his expression looked a bit dejected.

"There will be. Production is moving fast enough now; your equipment might very well be on the production line at this very moment."

Chu Ge wasn't lying. Both the Electromagnetic Pulse Rifle and the Electromagnetic Kinetic Sniper Rifle had been finalized and were currently being produced around the clock.

However, in such a large country, it was impossible to equip frontline units so quickly. Simply replacing standard rifles takes a very long time, let alone these high-tech pieces of equipment.

Chu Ge wasn't entirely sure about the exact production numbers for these items; those decisions were made by the top leaders, and he had no authority to intervene.

Nevertheless, Chu Ge reckoned that elite units like Division Commander Wang's would definitely be equipped.

"Wait, are we getting off-topic? We were just talking about our Air Force."

Dai Lin interjected suddenly. Cheng Changkun pulled him back from behind and gave Chu Ge an apologetic smile.

"Well, I did mention it. Isn't the aerospace carrier cool enough for you?"

"Ah? That's too, too big. I—I can't fly that."

Dai Lin muttered, his voice trailing off at the end.

Everyone laughed upon hearing Dai Lin's clearly lacking confidence.

"So little confidence? Comrade golden helmet, if I remember correctly, what you're holding is a symbol of honor."

Chu Ge tilted his head to look at the high-performance flight helmet in Dai Lin's hand. These helmets were specialized, meaning every pilot had their own exclusive flight helmet.

The helmets were custom-cut according to each pilot's head size to achieve maximum ergonomic efficiency.

The purpose of the custom cutting was to strictly measure the distance between the pilot's eyes, the distance from the eyes to the visor, and the distance from the eyes to the top of the head.

The distance from the eyes to the visor determined the field of view the pilot could see (the range the projector could move), while the distance from the eyes to the top of the head was used to position the optical system for optimal image size.

Dai Lin glanced at Chu Ge in surprise, likely not expecting him to know the origin of the golden helmet. He rubbed his head sheepishly.

"However, the aerospace carrier will indeed be equipped with drones, Aerospace Fighters, Reconnaissance Planes, and the like. And the scale of this air wing won't be small. So, I hope to see you in the carrier-based aircraft unit of the aerospace carrier, Mr. golden helmet!"

Chu Ge gave Dai Lin and the others some reassurance; after all, they were quite likable.

Hearing Chu Ge say this, Cheng Changkun, Dai Lin, and the others let out a cheer and hugged each other, looking as if they were about to pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate.

"Alright, we still have to get back to the base. It's only because Academician Chu is so approachable; otherwise, he wouldn't bother with you young punks."

Division Commander Wang stepped forward and scolded them playfully after they calmed down. Chu Ge looked over toward Li Gang's side; his team was already in their vehicles, and the equipment should have been loaded. Seeing that Chu Ge's car hadn't moved, they were waiting in place.

"Alright, we're really leaving this time. I have a friend waiting for me at the base. Oh, it's that big guy who shot you down last time, haha."

"[Soul Blade], huh? It's a star in our squadron now—the blacklisted kind, haha."

Dai Lin's teasing drew another round of laughter. Chu Ge and the others then bid farewell to the pilots and got into the jeep headed for the Experimental Base.

"Academician Chu is truly young. To create so many miracles at such a young age, he really is a role model for us."

Dai Lin made a rare serious remark. Captain Cheng and the others nodded silently, watching as Chu Ge's convoy gradually disappeared into the distance.

Chu Ge's convoy passed through several checkpoints before entering the Experimental Base. The security level here was the same as at the 'Telescope' bunker. Many anti-aircraft missile positions were scattered around the base, and various surveillance radars were constantly operating, declaring the uniqueness of this place.

Groups of armored vehicles passed the convoy one after another, carrying fully armed soldiers.

"This is the normal alert level here. Next to the Experimental Base is the Hive Base, as well as the production base for Mecha Warriors. These bases are all top-secret, so we must stay on high alert at all times."

Seeing Chu Ge looking at the armored groups outside, Division Commander Wang explained patiently.

"Yes, that's normal. Division Commander Wang, I heard there's a Joint Exercise going to be held nearby? That won't affect you, will it?"

Chu Ge suddenly remembered the exercise and asked.

"The exercise is still some distance away, and the airspace around here is a no-fly zone, so there won't be any impact."

"Oh, I see."

As they spoke, the convoy drove into the courtyard of the Experimental Base. The jeep came to a steady stop, and Chu Ge and the others stepped out. Many officers and researchers from the base had been waiting for a long time. Among them were many old acquaintances Chu Ge recognized, and he greeted them warmly.

"Academician Chu, this is Yu Yiyang. He's currently with [Soul Blade], mainly handling its daily maintenance."

The base's Chief Engineer Chen introduced a handsome young man wearing glasses to Chu Ge.

"Hello, Academician Chu."

Yu Yiyang seemed to be one of those technical specialists; he wasn't wearing a military uniform but rather a researcher's work clothes. He wore thick glasses, had a clean face, and looked very scholarly.

Chu Ge shook hands with Yu Yiyang and then turned back to Engineer Chen and the others.

"Chief Engineer Chen, Division Commander Wang, you both have duties to attend to, so there's no need to accompany me. Just let Xiao Yu come with me to see [Soul Blade]. What do you think?"

"Oh, right, Li Gang and his team have already gone to organize the equipment for testing. If there are no issues, they'll follow the established procedures. If you're interested, Division Commander Wang, you can go check things out with Li Gang, so you don't say I'm being unfair later. Haha."

Division Commander Wang and Chief Engineer Chen looked at each other, nodded with a smile, and then watched as Chu Ge and the others walked toward [Soul Blade]'s temporary quarters.
