225: Chapter 225 The Lost Land 2
Using the advanced privileges of his data terminal, Chu Ge selected a group of senior experts. After reviewing the list once more, he decisively clicked "Send."
Closing his data terminal, he headed toward the conference center. This matter had to be resolved as quickly as possible to avoid any complications.
In the Research Department, Yan Tianhao was studying a rock sample with Academician Huang and the others.
"Beep, beep, beep." A few harsh buzzing sounds came from the laboratory, and everyone hurriedly took off the data terminals on their arms.
Yan Tianhao opened his data terminal. Red notifications filled the entire screen, and he quickly tapped into them.
"Emergency meeting order: Please proceed to Conference Room 005 in Zone A immediately upon receiving this message. There is an important meeting; no delays permitted!!!"
Yan Tianhao looked at Academician Huang, who nodded. The two of them immediately bolted out the door.
By the time Yan Tianhao and the others arrived at the conference room, many people were already seated, and the number was still growing.
Chu Ge and Commander Wang were sitting on the circular podium. Yan Tianhao went over to greet them before heading toward the back.
Academician Huang was invited by Commander Wang to take a seat on the podium.
This conference room was arranged in a tiered layout, similar to a movie theater, but circular.
Each level was a closed ring with an aisle in the middle, and the podium was located at the very center of all the rings.
Those sitting on the backmost level were in the highest position and could clearly see Chu Ge and the others.
Captain Gong and his team were verifying the headcount. Before long, they ran over to Chu Ge. "General Chu, everyone has arrived. It is confirmed."
"Good." After Captain Gong stepped back, he closed the main door and then stood on either side of the entrance with a few guards.
Chu Ge called Engineer Yu over. After the two whispered a few words, Engineer Yu walked to the multimedia control area and began operating some equipment.
Chu Ge tested the microphone. "Everyone, since everyone has arrived, let's begin immediately. First, you will notice that there is a multimedia screen in front of each of you. Please turn it on now."
After speaking, Chu Ge looked at Engineer Yu. Upon receiving confirmation, he turned back around.
"The footage on the screen was shot earlier today. The location is a corner of the signal anomaly area previously marked by the satellite."
"These were installed by engineers as surveillance devices. Through the footage, you can see the anomalies in the rock structure of that area."
As the video footage unfolded, Chu Ge took on the role of narrator.
"This section is at a depth of approximately 1,100 meters. There is nothing special in the middle, except for some slight changes in the color of the rocks."
"Engineer Yu, fast forward to 1,100 meters." "Yes, Academician Chu."
Chu Ge stared at the video in front of him. Once the empty footage appeared, he cleared his throat and continued.
"After 1,100 meters, this is what it looks like now: a cavity, empty all around. This section is approximately 1,000 meters deep."
At this point, the senior engineers in attendance began to make noise. They were surprised, and some started to discuss it in hushed tones.
Chu Ge paused. After the video played for another minute or so, he said, "Engineer Yu, proceed to the ground level." "Yes."
"Now, this is the focus of today's meeting. This is 2,100 meters below the lunar surface, captured by a downward-facing camera. Now, I want you to pay attention to Camera Number 3."
Once the camera captured that flashing light source, Chu Ge called for a pause.
"This is what we discovered 2,100 meters underground on the Moon. Everyone present here is an authority in fields such as optics, electronic signals, and astrophysics."
"I need you to determine the nature of this light source as quickly as possible."
"I will have Engineer Yu edit this video and add a millisecond timestamp format. If you have any other requirements, you can approach him. I only want results!"
Chu Ge finished his speech and looked at Commander Wang next to him. The engineers in attendance finally reacted and began to communicate with those around them.
"Commander Wang? What do you think? Do you still think it's will-o'-the-wisps?" Seeing Commander Wang still looking down at the repeatedly playing video, Chu Ge couldn't help but ask out of curiosity.
"Do phosphorescent reactions require oxygen?" "What do you think?"
Commander Wang stopped talking. The Moon is a vacuum; many natural phenomena on Earth simply have no conditions to occur here.
Commander Wang shifted his gaze back to the display screen. To him, this video was a bit too incredible.
Chu Ge was not in a hurry. His eyes were on the video, but his mind began to calculate the next steps in his plan.
Half an hour later, Chu Ge refocused. He looked at the crowd, and the experts were sitting upright; it seemed they had already reached a conclusion.
"Academician Chu, we believe it is indeed some kind of light source. As for the frequency, it looks more like some kind of pulse signal." Academician Huang concluded as their representative.
Chu Ge knew what to expect and nodded.
"Academician Chu, I, I would like to add something." A young man in the back row raised his hand. Chu Ge smiled and told him to continue.
"Things captured by a camera and transmitted to our eyes have errors in between. This error increases as the distance increases."
"Similar to the computer screens and television screens we are looking at now, they are actually sets of static images changing at an extremely fast rate."
"Through the persistence of vision of the human eye, it is transmitted to our brain, forming a continuous effect. The technical term is frame rate."
The young man paused for a moment and then continued. Chu Ge listened very carefully.
"Therefore, the footage transmitted through the camera may not be the actual dynamics of the light source; we need to observe it face-to-face. Of course, this light source itself is abnormal, especially in the lunar environment. It is very likely that it has already exceeded our current understanding."
"Hmm? It seems you have something else in mind?" Chu Ge knew this young man had more to say.
"There is a type of bioluminescent jellyfish in the vast Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea." "When stimulated by turbulence caused by waves or ship movement, it emits a flickering, faint blue-green fluorescence."
"Therefore, we cannot completely rule out a biological light source."
This caused a stir; the young man's words made the conference room, which had already quieted down, erupt into excitement again.
Everyone started discussing it, thinking that what the young man said made some sense.
"Very good. What is your name?" Chu Ge asked the young man with a smile.
"Reporting to Academician Chu, I am from the Lucheng 49921 Electronics Research Institute. My name is Fang Muke."
Chu Ge nodded, signaling him to sit down.
"Commander Wang, what do you think? Should we report this to the superiors immediately?"
"I have the Soul Blade guarding the drilling site. If the military agrees to continue exploration, I will need support from the main force."
"I will report to Elder Long in a moment. The military will likely convene an emergency meeting overnight."
"Rest assured, go to sleep as you normally would. You'll have an answer when you wake up tomorrow." "Alright."
Chu Ge and Commander Wang discussed for a while longer. After selecting the key points for the report, Chu Ge announced the end of the meeting.
As for the rest, we'll wait for the military's instructions tomorrow, Chu Ge thought.
