131: Chapter 131 The Overbearing Strike of [Soul Blade]

Regiment Commander Wang Kai ran up to Deputy Commander Ran, stood at attention, and saluted.

"Commander, are you alright?"

"Hmm, I'm fine. Who gave you permission to leave your post without authorization?"

Deputy Commander Ran looked serious.

"I, I..."

Regiment Commander Wang didn't finish his sentence, because he saw Chu Ge again, an expression of disbelief appearing in his eyes.

"What? Don't you recognize me? Or are you afraid to acknowledge me?"

"Academician Chu! Regiment Commander Wang Kai of the 115th Division Air Defense Regiment, Group A Army, salutes you!"

"Regiment Commander Wang, hello!"

Chu Ge smiled and returned the salute.

"Alright, now is not the time for small talk. Since you're here, escort these foreign friends to the airport in a moment."

"Such a perfectly fine exercise, and now look at what's happened. Let me calm them down first. Oh, right, detain that person from G Istanbul for me, along with their fighter jets. I feel this matter isn't that simple. I need to report to the top leadership to see how to handle the follow-up issues; they need to provide an opinion."

Deputy Commander Ran issued several orders in one breath. Regiment Commander Wang Kai agreed readily, saluted Deputy Commander Ran and Chu Ge again, and then turned and left.

Deputy Commander Ran thought for a moment, then turned and walked toward the rostrum.

...

In the air, the remaining two F-16s were flying toward the backup airport one after another, with Cheng Changkun and Dai Lin's fighter jets following behind them.

They were flying alongside as escorts. The ground command center had already informed them of the sudden situation and granted them temporary decision-making authority in the air to deal with any potential further incidents.

However, the missiles carried by the two fighter jets were just training rounds.

The autocannons, however, were the real deal. So, they were flying behind the F-16s, their autocannons already aimed at the fighter jets ahead. If they dared to pull any more tricks, Dai Lin's short temper wouldn't mind letting them have a burst.

The two-plane F-16 formation circled, preparing to land.

"Cap, Captain, are we being monitored? They won't shoot us down directly, will they?"

The wingman pilot didn't look very old, his voice immature and trembling.

"Probably not, right? If they were going to shoot us down, they would have done it already. The Chinese are still relatively reasona..."

Arafat hadn't finished speaking when the alarm on his plane suddenly sounded. He looked at the radar in confusion. This wasn't an alarm for an attack, but a collision warning.

The radar screen showed an obstacle ahead!

"What the hell!"

Arafat muttered, then looked up. In front of him, the massive body of "Soul Blade" was already close at hand. The pale purple halo flickered along the edges of the "Soul Blade" mecha, looking very dazzling.

Before Arafat could shout, he violently performed a side roll to fly to the side, his plane brushing past the side of "Soul Blade".

He had no time to rejoice, because the wingman behind him didn't seem to have grasped the situation and was flying straight toward "Soul Blade".

The wingman pilot's eyes were wide open, his left hand subconsciously pulling up the sun visor. He stared at the pale blue eyes of "Soul Blade".

"Is this a god descending to earth?"

"Asshole, get out of the way! You're going to crash into it! It's not some Allah, that's a humanoid robot!!!"

Arafat shouted urgently while turning his fighter jet, but unfortunately, he was too late. After finishing his sentence, he watched helplessly as his wingman flew straight into that "great mountain."

Just as he thought a huge explosion was about to occur, the robot in front of him flew vertically upward at an incredible speed. Then, a dazzling weapon lit up in its left hand, and it descended rapidly with an acceleration even faster than before. That dazzling light, like a phantom, cut down along the center of the wingman's fuselage and quickly disappeared from view.

The next second, his wingman exploded violently in a mid-air disintegration right before his eyes. In an instant, the plane turned into countless fragments drifting downward at an angle.

Arafat squinted hard, turning his head to look at the fragments still drifting down. He couldn't believe the tragic scene that had just unfolded.

And who was he to be the only one who couldn't believe this scene? Behind him, Cheng Changkun and Dai Lin had watched the dreamlike spectacle of a Mecha Warrior versus fighter jets from beginning to end.

"Cap, Captain, that, that's "Soul Blade", right? This big brother is ruthless. Why did I suddenly remember the scene from our last exercise with it? My back is feeling so cold!"

"I felt cold just now too. But was "Soul Blade" sent by the base? This way of fighting is a bit, a bit lacking in martial virtue."

For once, Captain Dai Lin didn't call him out for messing around, but instead joined him in "commentating" on the scene.

"Captain, look, "Soul Blade" is going to do that again. Cutting a plane with that light blade is just like cutting tofu!"

"With this instantaneous acceleration, I think the effect would be about the same even if it held an iron rod!"

"Should we stop it? After all, the order the base gave us was to escort them to land if the other party behaved."

Dai Lin and Cheng Changkun seemed to have swapped roles; one started focusing on watching the show, while the other could still remember the orders they had received.

"Stop it? With your tofu-like plane?"

Cheng Changkun's words were filled with thick disdain.

"Uh, that's true. Let's just watch the show."

Arafat was indeed an experienced pilot; without any hesitation, he decisively pulled the handle under his seat and ejected magnificently. A few seconds after he ejected, his fighter jet had a repeat performance just like his wingman's.

Cheng Changkun and Dai Lin were both stunned by the smooth and fluid operation of this F-16 pilot, and it took them a long time to react.

"Hey, this guy is actually quite smart. It's not a bad method. Learned something new, haha."

Dai Lin was laughing there without restraint.

"Alright, hurry up and report to the base, tell them to send a search team over. Remember to send them the coordinates."

"Understood!"

Just as Dai Lin finished replying, he suddenly noticed "Soul Blade" appearing like a ghost to their side.

Those deep blue eyes were like a messenger from hell.

"Captain, this thing hasn't gone on a killing spree and won't finish us off too, right?"

After Dai Lin finished speaking, his back felt cold again. Cheng Changkun didn't reply to him, and he didn't know how to reply either. Just as they were terrified, "Soul Blade", hovering in the air, gave them a cool military salute and then left.

It took a long time for Dai Lin to react.

"Damn, Captain, to tell you the truth, my hand was already reaching down below."

Cheng Changkun still didn't reply; he silently returned a military salute in the direction "Soul Blade" had left.

The two JJ-10C fighter jets turned and flew rapidly toward the temporary airport.

Chu Ge looked at the smoke dissipating in the air and rubbed his hands.

"Well, "Soul Blade" has finished the job. It even knows how to be shy; it went straight back to its nest."

On the rostrum, Deputy Commander Ran was still explaining to the foreign friends on the scene, the gist being that there had been some accidents during this exercise, so the exercise was temporarily terminated. "Then you can all go home. Our soldiers are here to protect you, so don't worry. We will notify the relevant officials of your countries after investigating the subsequent situation," and so on.
