189: Chapter 189 The Reverse Scale

After the applause died down, Chu Ge stepped off the podium, and Principal Huang along with several senior professors came up to meet him.

"Academician Chu, it's no wonder Old Chen kept putting us off before. Today, I've truly opened my eyes. But a talent like you shouldn't just shine in his place alone. I'll go find the leadership later; you must come visit us often after this."

Principal Huang still felt unsatisfied after saying this and immediately entered poaching mode.

The professors felt the same, nodding in agreement and abandoning their previous reservations.

"Haha, I've been very busy before, but now I have a bit more spare time. Don't worry, Principal Huang, I will come over when I have the chance."

After this experience, Chu Ge felt he quite enjoyed interacting with these students; perhaps because they were of a similar age, it was easier for them to resonate emotionally.

At Principal Huang's enthusiastic invitation, Chu Ge was taken to the Aerospace University cafeteria. Originally, Principal Huang wanted to go out and find a high-end hotel to host Chu Ge, but Chu Ge declined. In Chu Ge's view, a simple meal would suffice, and he felt it would be better in the school cafeteria.

Recalling Chu Ge's status, Principal Huang readily agreed.

Chu Ge followed behind Principal Huang as the group walked toward the school cafeteria. Along the way, students from every grade greeted him, and Chu Ge responded to each one with a smile.

Today, the name "Academician Chu" had spread to every corner of Aerospace University.

Just as Chu Ge was about to go upstairs, Captain Gong walked over quickly.

"Academician Chu, I saw Chu Xiaowu. She has been following behind us." Captain Gong whispered in Chu Ge's ear.

"Hmm, go tell Chu Xiaowu that I will come find her after lunch."

"Understood." After Captain Gong agreed, he turned and walked back.

Chu Xiaowu and her roommates had been following behind Chu Ge and his group. Behind them was a large crowd of freshmen. To them, Chu Ge was their idol—a top-tier one at that.

"Academician Chu is truly too handsome, and so knowledgeable. From now on, he is my only idol, and I, Pang Ya, am officially a die-hard fan of Academician Chu." Pang Ya said, looking intoxicated.

"Oh, give it a rest. We've only known each other for three months, and this is already your fourth 'only' idol," Chu Xiaowu retorted dryly.

"Right, right, right. Chu Xiaowu is right, haha." The other roommates laughed until they were bent over.

"Um, you, you guys stop laughing. There's a handsome soldier brother looking at us. Hmm? He seems to be walking over..."

Chu Xiaowu turned her head in confusion and saw Captain Gong walking to her side.

"Chu Xiaowu, hello. Could I have a word with you in private?"

"Captain Gong, it's you. Sure."

Chu Xiaowu obediently followed Captain Gong to the side.

"Academician Chu said he will come to find you in a while. He wants you to go eat first."

"Mm, I guessed it was my brother who sent you to find me."

"Understood. Goodbye then."

"Goodbye, Captain Gong."

Captain Gong turned and walked away quickly, while Chu Xiaowu skipped back to her roommates.

"Chu Xiaowu, do you know that soldier brother?"

"Yeah, how do you know each other? You seem quite familiar. Could it be...? Hehe." Pang Ya winked at the other two girls.

"Ah? You mean Captain Gong? Yes, I know him. But, it's not what you think. He is, he is my..."

Chu Xiaowu wasn't very good at lying. She stammered for a long time without coming up with a reasonable explanation. Finally, she gave up, huffed twice, and ran forward, followed by the giggles of her roommates.

In the university cafeteria, Chu Ge chatted while eating with Principal Huang and the others. Before they knew it, the meal had lasted a long time. Principal Huang checked his watch, looked around, and smiled helplessly.

"Academician Chu, at this time, this place would usually be empty. Today is clearly abnormal."

"Is that so?" Chu Ge looked around. Many students were lingering, still glancing at Chu Ge and his group from time to time.

"We are basking in your glory, Academician Chu, haha."

"Principal Huang, if you keep saying that, I'll be too embarrassed to come again."

"Then I won't say it. But you must come often, if not for anything else, then for the expectant eyes of the students."

Principal Huang was really giving it his all for his students.

Chu Ge was moved by this and nodded heavily. Since Chu Xiaowu was also at this school, he prepared to legitimately abuse his power for personal gain once.

After chatting, the group stood up to leave. Chu Ge was in a hurry to see Chu Xiaowu, so he prepared to bid farewell to Principal Huang and the others.

"Principal Huang, I might take a walk around the campus in a bit. I haven't stepped into a university in a long time, and I want to experience the atmosphere here again." Chu Ge didn't feel like saying he was going to find Chu Xiaowu, so he just made up a casual excuse.

"No problem. I think the students would love for you to walk around a bit more. Haha, I'll accompany you."

"No need, no need. Please go attend to your business; I'll just walk around by myself."

Principal Huang looked at Chu Ge suspiciously. Seeing his persistence, he thought about it and didn't insist further.

Academician Chu had both overt and covert security guards, so he was naturally at ease regarding safety. As for the rest, Principal Huang figured young people still preferred to interact with other young people.

After Chu Ge bid farewell to Principal Huang and the others, he left with Captain Gong and his team. At this moment, there were very few people on the road; the students were likely taking their lunch break. Chu Ge and his group strolled through the early winter campus, not in any particular rush.

"Academician Chu's lecture today was really great. All the students were talking about him during lunch."

"That's a given. The youngest Academician, and the chief engineer of that big warship, plus he's handsome."

"Tsk tsk tsk, it's rare for our Xue Rui to have such a high evaluation of a male."

Chu Ge, Captain Gong, and the others passed by and happened to hear these girls chatting, and the topic was still about him. Captain Gong listened and smiled at Chu Ge. Chu Ge glared at him and made a gesture to pull him away.

"That's right. I've always been open and aboveboard. I like things straightforward. Unlike Chu Xiaowu, who just knows how to act high and mighty, acting aloof."

"What do you mean?" The girls nearby became interested. Gossip about the department beauty was worth hearing.

Chu Ge frowned, immediately slowed his pace, and put his finger to his lips to signal Captain Gong not to speak.

"I saw her eyes this morning. The way she looked at Academician Chu was full of affection. There was no aloofness at all; she was clearly just being selective about who she treats well..."

Chu Ge couldn't listen anymore. This younger sister of his was his reverse scale. Bullying anyone else was fine, but bullying Chu Xiaowu was something Chu Ge could not tolerate. At this moment, he didn't care about any secrets. He pushed past Captain Gong and walked straight over.

Xue Rui had wanted to continue, but seeing a man charging over, she instinctively shut her mouth. She was about to scream when she looked closely and realized it was Chu Ge.

"Academician Chu? Oh my god, we actually ran into you."

The two girls nearby heard this and quickly turned around. The next second, "Ahhh!"—the high-pitched screams unique to girls rang out.

Chu Ge was startled. He stopped instantly, squinting his eyes and rubbing his ears.

Xue Rui and the others rushed over, chirping and starting to ask all sorts of questions.

Academic questions, romance questions, space questions, personal preferences—they really covered everything they could think of, from the mundane to the profound.

Chu Ge forgot for a moment what he had come to do. After muddledly answering all the questions he could, he managed to escape. Halfway there, he remembered the matter with Chu Xiaowu and turned back.

"Actually, Chu Xiaowu is not that kind of person. She is a good girl. I can vouch for her because I am her older brother. You, you can try to get along with her properly. Once you do, you'll know."

After saying this, Chu Ge turned and left. He didn't want to make things difficult for these girls.

Earlier, they had asked him many questions about the aerospace carrier, the Interstellar Fleet, and space, especially Xue Rui.

Chu Ge could tell that they were genuinely interested in this knowledge.

Chu Ge felt that girls who like the stars and sea couldn't have bad hearts. There must be some misunderstanding in all of this.
