51: Chapter 51 Electromagnetic Pulse Rifle Design Finalization, Quantum Communication

With Li Gang's command, the Electromagnetic Pulse Rifle fired again.

The penetration test results came in; after piercing through six layers of steel plates, the bullet finally came to a stop.

"Hmm, it's alright. The bullet material still isn't quite up to par, but this result is acceptable. Li Gang, continue!"

Chu Ge concluded.

"Electromagnetic Pulse Rifle, distance and trajectory test experiment 1. Set up targets at 1,500 meters and 2,000 meters. Prepare for the experiment."

Li Gang ordered into the walkie-talkie.

A few minutes later, colleagues from the Research Institute reported via the walkie-talkie that the targets and related equipment were installed. The experiment continued.

The Electromagnetic Pulse Rifle fired again.

After two shots, the experimental results were out.

At 1,500 meters, the trajectory height of the Electromagnetic Pulse Rifle was 0.35m; at 2,000 meters, it was 0.50m.

"Hiss, that's a bit terrifying. The trajectory height of a Type 81 rifle at a distance of 300 meters on sight setting 3 reaches 0.35m."

Chen Nan was shocked.

"With electromagnetic pulse firing, the kinetic energy is high, so the bullet flies closer to a straight line. It's normal."

Chu Ge remained unfazed.

Next, the experiments unfolded one by one according to the pre-arranged process: switching between semi-automatic, full-automatic, and 4-round burst pulse modes, simulating harsh environments, and module disassembly and assembly.

The Electromagnetic Pulse Rifle met its design requirements in all performance aspects; it could be said to have delivered a perfect result.

People at the training range cheered.

After Chu Ge and the two brigade commanders signed the experimental log, the actual testing of the Electromagnetic Pulse Rifle was considered over.

Chu Ge finally relaxed, standing up to stretch his muscles.

"Li Gang, the blueprints and research data for the related modules can be sealed and reported to the Equipment Department. We can let the arsenal begin trial production."

"The preliminary experiments can only go this far. Specific follow-up plans require small-batch testing and use in the field. Only after a period of exploration will we see where improvements are needed."

"Yes, Academician Chu."

"Alright, have everyone pack up. It's getting late; prepare to return to the Research Institute."

Just as Chu Ge was about to greet the two brigade commanders, he saw Brigade Commander Lu Nan walking over with a smile.

"Colonel Chu, look, the Research Institute needs to equip a unit with a batch of these electromagnetic... uh, whatever rifles anyway to collect data. Why not just equip our 224th Brigade? We're close by, so it's easier to visit each other, right?"

"Colonel Chu, there's also my 223rd Brigade!"

Gu Jianhua quickly added from the side.

"Go away, Old Gu. I've already given you enough face by coming here for the experiment. Don't push your luck with me now."

"Hey, I say, Big Pumpkin Lu, can those two things be lumped together? One thing is one thing. What, is your 224th Brigade your own flesh and blood or something?"

"So what if they are..."

...

Chu Ge had lines of frustration on his face. These two brothers were in their 40s, yet they still had such tempers, their bickering becoming more and more ridiculous.

"Uh, excuse me, let me say something."

Chu Ge began to break up the fight.

"This really isn't something our Ordnance Research Institute can decide. The military and the General Armaments Department have to give the nod. Instead of wasting time with me, why don't you go find Commander Leng or some other top leader?"

After hearing this, the two brigade commanders thought for a moment and felt it made some sense. They glared at each other and finally quieted down.

"Haha, alright. There will definitely be more and more equipment, and since both of your brigades are elite forces, I believe you'll certainly be among the first batch of units to receive them."

"Alright, no need to see us out. We're heading back now. Thank you both for braving the wind and sand with us all day."

After Chu Ge shook hands and said goodbye to the two brigade commanders, he waved to Yan Tianhao. Everyone then got into the cars, and the convoy hurried toward the Research Institute.

In the car, a cheerful Chu Ge took out his phone and clicked on Dilireba Nazha's profile picture.

He had learned his lesson recently and would proactively send greetings to the princess every now and then, lest he forgot while busy and she bared her teeth at him again.

"Your Highness, are you busy?"

"Hmm, so well-behaved. You've been performing well lately."

"Of course, I have to learn from my mistakes, don't I?"

"Haha, oh, I'm preparing a new song. The Magic City Music Festival is opening in about 40 days, and I haven't even started yet."

"Music festival?"

Chu Ge actually knew a bit about this music festival. It was quite famous in Asia, and even some popular stars from Korea and Japan would attend.

"Yes. By the way, do you have time? I have good seats. Also, I... I miss you."

Dilireba Nazha said softly, then there was silence for a long time. Chu Ge knew the girl was shy again.

"Should be no problem. I'll arrange my schedule. See you then?"

"Mhm..."

Chu Ge calculated that the "Prism Towers" would be fully constructed in a month. He would definitely need to find time to check on them when they were nearly finished and then integrate them with the "Telescope."

In these next few weeks, he had to churn out the design blueprints for the helmet system and several subsystems of the aerospace carrier.

This schedule was a bit tight; he'd have to forget food and sleep again.

"Damn, who would have thought that after getting a badass PLUS version of the Military-Industrial System, I wouldn't even have time to pick up girls."

Chu Ge mocked himself briefly and then dozed off. He needed to recover some energy first, lest he end up like that guy in the 'Memorial on the Case for the Expedition,' which would be tragic.

When Chu Ge woke up, he found only himself and Yan Tianhao left in the car. Chu Ge leaned over and saw that he was reading an academic report on black holes.

"Ah, Academician Chu, you're awake. Group Leader Li saw you were too tired and told us not to disturb you. He went to Old Chen's place first to report the experimental results."

"Hmm, where's Zheng Jun? Go find him and bring him to my office. I suddenly remembered some things I haven't told him."

"Okay!"

The communication system in the Helmet Project and one of the core devices of the aerospace carrier both required quantum technology. So, it was time to finalize the Quantum Project.

Thinking this, Chu Ge walked toward the Research Institute's office area.

Fifteen minutes later, Zheng Jun came running in, out of breath.

"Academician Chu, you were looking for me?"

"Yes. I have two tasks to assign to you. First, the helmet in the individual soldier system needs a built-in Quantum Communication system. I'll give you the specific progress plan and blueprint report tomorrow. Second, you need to coordinate with the most authoritative quantum experts in the country to assist them in completely transforming the existing quantum computer 'Origin Sinan' into a super quantum computer suitable for the aerospace carrier. I'll give you the specific transformation plan in a few days."

"Yes! Academician Chu, regarding Quantum Communication, the Chinese Academy of Sciences is actually already researching it, but they are currently stuck on the two difficult problems of repeaters and the distance attenuation of quantum entanglement."

"Yes, I know. That's why I'll give you the solutions to these problems tomorrow!"

"What? Academician Chu, you've already overcome these two difficult problems?"

Zheng Jun looked at Chu Ge with a contorted expression, nearly blurting out those words.

"Are you even fucking human?"
