Chapter 123: Next timeUpon hearing the orders, the man in a black robe looked at one of the people in a yellow robe before asking them to activate the spell book.

At the same time, he turned to face Clint who had sent a spell at them.

Blue stars appeared around him and quickly formed a star pattern. After the star pattern formed, a meter-long water blade shot out from it and flew toward Clint’s fireball.

While this was happening, William was dealing with several dark beasts and spells that were coming towards him. This made him unable to approach whoever was going to activate the spell book.

At this moment, one of the yellow robes took something out from his storage device. It was a small note with silver white stars imprinted on it, Alex could instantly feel the energy of the space element from the note.

Clint and William sensed this as well, and a feeling of urgency appeared in their hearts.

"Mr Chen! It’s a teleportation spell book, they are going to escape!" William cried out as he jumped from where he was standing, dodging an ice spell which crashed into the ground.

After that, he turned and cast a light beam at a dark beast that tried to jump at him.

Alex heard this and glanced at the yellow robe who was holding the spell book, so that thing was like a teleportation scroll?

Thinking of this, Alex dashed toward the yellow-robed figure. But before he could reach his target, two large vines attacked him from the side and forced him to dodge to the side.

He looked and saw the little kid standing not far away with a green star pattern floating behind him.



"You should focus on me instead." The kid smiled before controlling the vines to attack Alex again after he dodged the first time.

The speed of these vines was several times faster than any other vines that Alex had come across; they could even keep up with Alex’s moving speed!

Alex guessed that it was because the person who had cast it was an Archmage, which was why they were faster than vines created by weaker mages.

After dodging for the third time, Alex summoned his purple stars and cast another lightning bolt within a second.

BOOM!

The powerful lightning bolt struck down just as suddenly as the first star had appeared but the kid was still able to react and had tossed his lollipop to block it again.

Alex clicked his tongue in annoyance. The only way he could probably resolve this problem quickly was if he used the space element but he couldn’t do that with Clint and William present.

’If that won’t work, then take this!’ Alex sneered in his thoughts. He moved again, dodging the vines and leaving afterimages before summoning the stars of the purple element again.

"Lightning bolt!"

The casting speed was just as fast as always, and a lightning bolt was soon ready to strike down, only that the kid wasn’t the target of this lightning bolt this time around; it was the yellow-robed person who was pouring mana into the spell book in his hands!

The expression on the kid’s face changed when he saw this. He had long realised that this wasn’t a fight that he could win, considering Mr Chen’s frightening speed of casting high-level spells, which was why he had ordered one of them to create an escape route for them.

If he allowed Mr Chen to kill that person, wouldn’t they all be doomed?

Without thinking twice, the kid tossed the lollipop in his hand toward the yellow robe. The lollipop arrived just in time for the lightning bolt to strike down.

The lightning struck the giant lollipop before it could fully expand to its usual size, the lollipop shuddered and faint cracks appeared around its edges but it had successfully blocked the spell for the yellow robe.

However, killing the yellow robe wasn’t really Alex’s main objective.



Seeing that the lollipop had been sent away, he dashed toward the kid and cast another lightning bolt at the same moment that the first lightning bolt struck down.

The eyes of the kid widened in disbelief when he saw this, he almost threw up blood from frustration.

How the hell does this Mr Chen keep casting high rank spells so quickly?!

He didn’t bother recalling the lollipop since it wouldn’t be able to make it back in time before Alex and the lightning bolt reached him.

Alex had a grin behind his mask as he approached the little kid. Now that the lollipop was out of the way, the kid would definitely focus on blocking his lightning bolt.

This would then give him the chance to grab the other party and then...bombard him with more lightning bolts!

BOOM!

The lightning bolt struck down at the kid while Alex was less than three meters away, his right hand already stretched out to grab the other party by the neck.

However, Alex saw the little kid suddenly throw something at him with enough force to shatter a building if it hit.

’Still trying to fight back? It’s useless.’ Alex thought as he tilted his head and let the thing fly past him, he glanced at it briefly and saw that it was a small doll-like object.

What was this again? Another magic item?

But Alex didn’t really care as he returned his focus to the little kid who was now right in front of him and was less than a few centimetres away from his fingers, the lightning bolt was right above their heads.

Just when Alex thought he was going to grab the little guy, the other party hastily screamed.

"Switch!"

Right after he screamed this, the little guy vanished into thin air and was replaced by a doll that was the same size as the kid.

Alex hadn’t expected this and ended up grabbing the doll. At a glance, he could tell that it was the same doll that he had dodged.

So it really was another magic item. Just how many abnormal magic items did this little guy have?

Right after he grabbed the doll, the lightning bolt struck down.

The ground trembled as if it was about to collapse as Alex and the doll were drowned in violent lightning. Unlike Alex, the doll was unable to withstand the might of the lightning bolt and instantly exploded into countless pieces that were then burned to ashes by the lightning.

Alex moved his head and looked behind him. Just as he thought, the kid had swapped places with the doll.

At the same time, the spell book was finally activated. Countless silver white stars flew out from it and formed four star constellations at an extremely quick speed.

The kid grabbed his lollipop and jumped into the center of the star constellations before looking at Alex. The others also pulled back from what they were doing and joined him immediately after the star constellations appeared.

"Sorry that I can’t stay longer, let’s continue next time, Mr Chen." The boy smiled at Alex.

With a blinding flash of white light, all of them disappeared with the star constellations.

Alex didn’t bother going after them since he wouldn’t make it to the star constellations before they disappeared so he just stood in one place and watched.

Clint and William had regretful expressions as they watched the members of the Dark Union escape, leaving behind the remaining dark beasts.

"Next time, you won’t be able to escape." Alex mumbled softly to himself.
