Chapter 41: The system got fixed???His mother had instantly noticed the ring on his finger the moment he walked into the house and asked about it.

Alex claimed that he had gotten it from a random roadside shop for five Zen. He said that the person said it was a storage device and was literally giving it away for the price of five Zen.

His mother shook her head after hearing this, thinking that her son had been scammed. She didn’t scold him and only warned him not to buy things from such places in the future, as the sellers were very dishonest and usually sold fake things.

She thought Alex would realise the truth soon after he discovered that he had been sold a normal ring.

After the short matter about the ring was cleared up, Alex went to his room to wash up before coming down to help set up the table for dinner.

His father came later that evening, and they all had dinner together. Alex was asked during dinner if there was anything he needed since he entered the Adept mage rank.

Although his parents were ordinary people and did not know much about mages, they knew that growing a mage required resources and a lot of money.

And they had experienced it before, during the process when Alex had newly awakened and entered the academy, it was also the reason why they had fallen into debt. They were just concerned that Alex hadn’t asked for anything since he made a breakthrough, not even a single mana core.

The family finished dinner and returned to their respective rooms.

Lying on his bed, Alex’s mind wandered to what had happened today in the forest outside the border.

The spell for expert rank mages of the space element was just too overbearing. How were other mages supposed to handle such spells?

Well, it wasn’t only the spell at the Expert mage rank; all the spells of the space element from the Adept mage rank to the other ranks were just too overbearing.

Telekinesis, space bullets, space wall, and space cut. All spells were near invisible and difficult to track down; mages of the same rank would literally be in serious trouble if faced with any of these spells.

"I guess that’s why the space element is regarded with so much respect for being a rare element," Alex mumbled softly.

He wasn’t wrong for saying this, after all, he was the only one with the space element in the entire academy. He didn’t know about other academies in Balon City, but he doubted there would be more than two in any of the other academies.

His mind continued to wander about what had happened after he returned to the Union building, the scouts of the Rising Wave and Dark Star explorer groups, how he had managed to escape the pursuit of the big chested woman, and lastly, his lecture session with the thugs.

"Ah, it’s been a busy day indeed," Alex said with a sigh as he rolled over.

He chose not to read and just sleep for tonight, tomorrow was going to be an interesting day.

That night, Alex had a nightmare. He had dreamt that his system had been fixed and all of its features had returned to normal!

It was a calamity, the amount of exp needed for each level up increased significantly and the rewards for killing low-ranked magic beasts as he got stronger reduced as well, forcing him to only kill magic beasts of equal or higher strength.

Not just that, the amount of exp that he could get every day also became limited due to the limits set by the daily and weekly mission counts.

It was very terrible, Alex had tried so many times to undo the fixing of the system, but it only grew worse as his items and skills turned inactive, and he needed to activate them with a large amount of exp!

"Ahhh!" Alex had woken up in the middle of the night with a shout, his eyes were wide open like someone who just saw a ghost and his body was drenched in cold sweat.

"Thank God it was only a dream, that was scary." Alex shivered as he thought about the nightmare; he didn’t dare to sleep that night again.

He first went to take a bath and changed his clothes before returning to his room and picking up a book, he had to get some exp to console himself!



Morning came quickly, and Alex had only read three books from the time he woke up till dawn.

Although he had assured himself that it was just a dream, the horrors of the nightmare weren’t so easy to forget; the series of notifications that alerted him that his system had been fixed were like voices of vengeful ghosts to his ears.

This had caused Alex to be easily distracted while reading and had greatly reduced his reading speed, causing him to be able to read only 3 books.

Alex couldn’t help but feel emotional at the thought that he would soon reach the Master mage rank. How many mages could reach this rank? How many Master rank mages were in Balon City?

Even the teachers were at the Expert mage rank!

"It’s all thanks to the system," Alex said with a grateful sigh.

Just like other characters that he had read about in his previous life, he also wondered what the origin of the system was and why it had broken.

But he didn’t dare to think of when or how it could be fixed, though. The thought didn’t even cross his mind for a moment!

Had the system not broken, he might still be in the Adept mage rank by now.

At this moment, Emily’s voice came from outside his door, telling him to prepare and come down for breakfast.

"Okay, I’ll be down in a bit!" Alex replied before getting up from his bed.

It was time to get ready for the academy.
