Chapter 137: strength of the top Magic Academies

While the students of the Starfall Magic Academy fought the tiger, the team representing the Black Rose Magic Academy reorganised itself and began to launch spells from behind their opponents.

Lightning balls, thick vines, and light beams were thrown at the students of the Starfall Magic Academy who were struggling to take down the tiger.

The summoning mage of the Black Rose’s team didn’t join in the attack as she was in charge of maintaining the presence of the tiger that she had summoned.

She was constantly using her mana to heal the injuries the tiger sustained while fighting against the students of the Starfall Magic Academy.

It was only a common rank magic beast after all, and injuries were inevitable when fighting a group of Adept mages; it would have long died if not for the girl sending her mana to it.

During this period, the girl could not use any other spells and could only focus on what she had summoned.

The other three from Black Rose didn’t leave the tiger to fight by itself, they began to attack the members of the Starfall Magic Academy’s team from behind.

Two large vines slithered across the arena like huge snakes and attacked the boys in white tracksuit uniforms, forcing them to move around the arena to dodge while at the same time keeping an eye on the tiger that was threatening to rip them with its teeth and sharp claws; even a normal slap from the tiger’s large paws would be dangerous.

Lightning balls and light beams were also being fired at them repeatedly, making it difficult for the four in white uniforms to focus.

Eventually, one of them was hit by the tiger as one of its large paws slammed into the side of his body while the boy was focused on dodging a vine and a light beam that had appeared in front of him suddenly.

A pained scream rose from the boy’s throat as his body flew away like a broken kite and crashed into the barrier around the arena. He spat out a mouthful of blood that stained his white uniform before dropping to the ground, unconscious.

The other three tried to fight back, but it was too difficult with a ferocious, large tiger chasing them and three mages attacking them with spells.



Not long after the first student from Starfall Magic Academy was knocked out, the remaining three were hit with spells one after another and were sent flying. They crashed into the ground some distance away and tried to get up but one of the referees suddenly appeared in front of them.

"Earth control!" The referee voiced out with a calm look in his eyes as his hands touched the ground.

The floor of the arena trembled before a tall earth wall rose in front of the referee.

BAM!

Roar!

Immediately after the wall appeared, the sound of a powerful collision rang out, followed by the loud roar of the tiger. Without being told, the three students knew that the referee saved them from getting assaulted any further.

"Withdraw your beast!" The voice of the referee rang out as the tiger tried to cross the earth wall.

The girl instantly reacted and recalled the tiger to her side.

At the same time, the other referee announced the end of the match when the name of the Black Rose Magic Academy was projected in the air.

Cheers erupted from the sitting area of the Black Rose Magic Academy as the students rejoiced over the first victory and against an academy that had ranked higher than them during the previous tournament at that!

In the sitting area of the Dragonic Magic Academy, the vice dean had been watching the match with a serious face.

"Hah, the students in this tournament are definitely more promising than those in the previous tournament." She paused and glanced at Alex and the others before saying. "The same goes for our academy as well."

Amelia, Glen, and the other two boys struggled to hide their proud expressions behind humble smiles after getting praised by the vice dean of their academy. Alex just glanced at them expressionlessly before looking away.

In the arena, the students of the Starfall Magic Academy were helped off the stage before the names of the next academies were projected and the participants went up for their match.

Two matches later, it was time for one of the top three Magic Academies during the previous tournament to fight.

It was the Golden Element Magic Academy that was ranked in second place during the last tournament Vs Elemental Sovereign Magic Academy that was ranked 11th in the last tournament.

The students of both Magic Academies appeared in the arena after the end of the fourth match and stood on opposing sides of the arena. A thick air of tension filled that arena as the students of the Elemental Sovereign Magic Academy stared at their opponents with overwhelmed expressions.

All four students of the Golden Element Magic Academy were at the Core mage rank while their opponents only had a single Core mage on their side!

Even the spectators could feel the tension in the arena just by looking, it was easy to guess what the outcome of the match was going to be.

Alex was surprised after discovering this too, he felt that it was no wonder that the Golden Element Magic Academy was able to get second place; their students were actually so talented!

But if second place was already this powerful, how was first place going to be?



For now, Alex couldn’t tell what academy was on the list from earlier just from their uniforms and had to wait for them to come to the arena when it was their turn.

He looked in Laura’s direction and scanned the students around her. Aside from Laura, there were ten other Core mages who were in student uniforms!

Alex also discovered that a few other academies had more than four students who had reached the Core mage rank. Compared to these kinds of academies, Dragonic Magic Academy was indeed trash.

Back in the arena, the match between the Golden Element Magic Academy and the Elemental Sovereign Magic Academy had started.

Everyone could see the lack of interest in the eyes of the students from the Golden Element Magic Academy, they were not taking their opponents seriously at all.

This infuriated their opponents but what could they possibly do to a group of Core mages when they only had one?

Still, it didn’t mean that they were going to give up just like that.

All four of them immediately summoned their stars. The four students of the Elemental Sovereign Magic Academy had the lightning, water, earth, and light element respectively; the light element was the Core mage in the group and he had created two star patterns to cast a Core rank spell.

Their opponents watched as the students from the Elemental Sovereign Magic Academy completed their star patterns and cast their spells.

"Lightning ball!"

"Earth control!"

"Water blade!"

"Light Ray!"

Swoosh!

Woosh!!

The spells flew toward the four Core mages on the other side of the arena. An orb of lightning, a large boulder that had been summoned from the ground and sent flying with a kick, a two meters long dazzling water blade, and a fast ray of golden light that shot out like a bullet.

All of these spells rushed toward the students from the Golden Element Magic Academy at impressive speed, the light Ray being the fastest.

In the face of all of these spells, the four remained indifferent. One of them casually lifted one of his hands and tossed something into the air.

The next moment, a tall transparent red energy shield that was several meters wide appeared in front of the four.

It was a magic item! A grade two protective barrier!

Everyone gasped at the appearance of the barrier, they didn’t expect the team from the Golden Element Magic Academy to use a magic item to block the spells.



The use of magic items wasn’t forbidden in the tournament but it was only used during the end of the tournament when matches were getting very tough. Who would use a magic item at the start of the tournament?!

BOOM!!!

The four spells crashed into the red barrier with powerful impacts and caused deafening sounds but the barrier stood firmly, not even a tiny crack appeared in it.

The students from the Elemental Sovereign Magic Academy "..."

Did their opponents feel too lazy to even dodge their spells or they just wanted to oppress them by showing off that they had a magic item?

Is there really no justice for the weak?

After blocking the spells from their opponents, the student who had tossed the barrier out moved his hand again and the barrier shrank before flying back into his palm.

"Deal with them." He said with a toneless voice to his teammates.

Hearing his voice, two students stepped forward and summoned their stars. Both of them possessed the fire element and had both summoned ten stars, they started to form two star patterns each.

"Retreat!"

Someone on the Elemental Sovereign Magic Academy’s team shouted upon seeing this, all of them immediately made distance but the spells of their opponents were already out.

"Fire claws!"
