Chapter 72: Report of kidnappingsAfter storing the corpse of the bear inside his space pocket, Alex returned to the City. The trip back took him only a few minutes with his current speed and there was still a lot of time before nightfall.

Reaching the border, Alex noticed that the officers were gathered around someone, but they didn’t notice him immediately.

Only after he walked close did they notice his presence.

"It’s explorer Chen!"

"Explorer Chen is back, welcome back, Mr Chen!"

"Mr Chen, how was your trip outside?"

The officers immediately started to greet him respectfully upon noticing him. This made Alex lift an eyebrow in confusion; the attitude of these officers was strange.

Although they were usually respectful towards him because of his identity as an explorer and a guest of the Union, they were never this eager to greet him.

He noticed someone at this moment as a man pushed past the line of officers and approached Alex, the others tried to stop him.

They thought that Mr Chen would be offended by their friend’s rude behaviour and tried to pull him back but the man didn’t let them as he slipped past them and ran toward Alex before dropping in front of him.

"Please, help me. Mr Chen, you have to help me save her!" The man looked up at Alex’s mask and cried out, his face covered in a pleading look and his eyes were red.



Alex looked at the man, he recognised this person. He was one of the officers who was guarding the border the first time Alex came. He had met this man a few more times and had a good impression of him.

With the way the man was dressed and the fact that he hadn’t seen him earlier, Alex figured out that he wasn’t supposed to be on duty today and had come to look for him.

Seeing the man’s current expression, he was puzzled as to what the problem might be. The other party was begging him to save someone, who was he going to save?

"What is it?" Alex asked after making his voice sound hoarse.

Dan’s eyes lit up with a trace of hope flashing across his face after hearing Mr Chen’s words. As long as the other party was willing to listen to him, then there was hope.

The other officers were sensible and didn’t step in to pull back their friend after hearing Mr Chen’s question, they watched from afar with sorry expressions on their faces.

Dan immediately started to explain what the problem was. It turned out that his daughter had been kidnapped, and it had been two days now without any news from her or her kidnappers; he even pulled out a small picture and showed it to Alex.

Alex took a look and saw that it was a little girl of around 8 to 9 years of age, she had short orange hair and big round yellow eyes. In the photo, the girl had a big smile with all her teeth showing; two of her front teeth were missing but this made her very adorable.

’Who would kidnap such a cute kid?" Alex thought to himself before moving his attention back to Dan.

"Aren’t the Union doing anything about this?" He asked.

Since Dan was an officer of the Union, they should do their best to help him since it involved his family.

At the mention of the Union, Dan’s eyes trembled and his expression fell.

He dropped his head weakly as he explained that the Union were already


Besides, Mr Chen had only appeared recently, so there was a good chance that he hadn’t known about the kidnapping or hadn’t bothered to take action.

"Thank you, thank you so much, Mr Chen. I don’t know how I’m going to repay you." Dan knelt in front of Alex, thanking him with tears running down his face.

Alex was moved, this was a father’s love for his child.

Without saying another word, he turned around and left Dan and the officers. He had to go to the Union building first and sell the beast corpses and mana cores with him.

As for helping with the kidnapping case. Although he had agreed to help Dan, he didn’t know how he was going to do that.

He had agreed after seeing how desperate the man was to save his child; he hoped that the kids were still fine, or else it would be awkward to face Dan in the future.
