Chapter 65: Peak of the Expert mage rankThey reached Alex’s home after some time, Phil was left to wait in the car while Alex and Mia went inside the house.

They met Alex’s mother and Emily preparing dinner together, Alex left to his room to go wash up while Mia stayed with his mother downstairs.

Several minutes passed before Alex came down; his mother told him that Mia had already left, as she couldn’t wait to have dinner with them.

"Big brother, you’re now an explorer? That’s so cool!" Emily exclaimed with sparkling eyes as she looked at Alex. Alex smiled and rubbed her hair before looking at his mother.

His mother currently had a conflicted expression as she stared back at him. After a while, she asked Emily to go check something in the kitchen.

"Okay, Mom!" Emily answered and ran off, leaving Alex alone with their mother.

"Mom..." Alex tried to speak, but was cut off by his mother, who suddenly walked toward him and hugged him. Her shoulders were trembling, and her breathing was heavy.

"Thank you, son. Thank you so much." She made out in a whisper, her voice almost cracking.

Alex smiled as he stared down at her. he hugged her back before telling her that he was okay and that he was very happy that he was able to help.

"You and Dad have done your best for us, it’s only right that I can help you as well; I’m grown now," Alex reassured.

His mother pulled back at this moment, the smile on her face was on the verge of collapsing. She wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.



"You’re right, my little boy is now grown; I didn’t realise earlier." She said as a smile broke through her sad expression.

"Still, you have to create a bank account as soon as possible. I can’t keep taking your money, you’ll need it more as a mage." She said after calming down.

"It’s fine, Mom, I can always ask you to buy me something if I need anything," Alex explained. The truth was that he planned to let his parents take all the money he would make from the Rising Wave group; he had more than enough, as Mr Chen.

"No, I insist. A man needs to have his own money." His mother said stubbornly, not letting Alex refuse her.

Alex smiled helplessly, he was still fine with it.

The day continued. Mr Zoran returned after some time, he looked very exhausted and on the verge of collapsing into the embrace of sleep. Either way, he still went to clean up before coming to have dinner with his family.

Everyone went to their separate rooms afterwards.

As usual, Alex spent the night reading and farming exp points. He didn’t forget his primary goal, gaining exp was the most important!

Soon, notifications began to appear in front of him as hours flew by in a breeze.

6 a.m. the next day.

Alex got up from his bed and stretched. He summoned his system profile while at it and took a look at it. He saw that he now had 160 exp points after reading all night.

"160 exp huh?" Alex mumbled to himself and, without wasting time, he used 100 exp to level up.

The notifications appeared in front of his eyes as he felt himself grow stronger; the feeling was more evident in his soul sea, which had increased in size after he reached the peak stage of the Expert mage rank.

Alex called out his system profile after relishing in the feeling of growing more powerful.

Craftsman: The host can use exp points to create spells related to his elements. The amount of exp used in crafting will be determined by the system based on the strength of the spell crafted!

All-knowing mask: The host has master-level appraisal knowledge and can conceal himself from the prying of others.

Pendent of deterrence: The host can release the aura of a powerful mage from the pendent (the aura from the pendent will be two ranks higher than the target of the host!)

Indestructible Robe: A robe that can block a strike of anyone below the Sage stage.

"Now 40 points short of reaching the Master mage rank." Alex thought to himself, he was feeling excited about reaching the next rank.

He would go look for that red-eyed bear after reaching the Master mage rank!

Alex put the thought of that at the back of his mind for now as he got ready for the academy. It took him a few minutes to finish his daily activities and get into his uniform before heading downstairs.

His mother was surprised to see Alex had come down earlier than usual, Emily had yet to come down.

"Haha, I woke up earlier," Alex explained.

He saw his dad was present and had yet to leave for work.

"Good morning, Dad." Alex greeted.

"Hmm, your mother told me about yesterday. Thank you, we’ll keep the rest for you after settling the debt." His father said with a serious face.

"It’s fine, you can use it all." Alex waved with a smile.

"No, it’s your first payment from being an explorer, get something for yourself or do whatever you want with it." His father stared at him and said strongly.

He couldn’t help but glance back and forth between his parents. Alas, these two were the same, stubborn.

"I understand." Alex gave up on persuading him.

His father nodded and went silent for some seconds before suddenly saying.

"Good job, son."

Alex was stunned by the sudden words while his mother smiled from the side.



"Thank you." He responded after a while.

Unlike usual days, Mr Zoran stayed behind to have breakfast with his family before going out.

Emily and Alex left the house together as usual. They parted ways after reaching Emily’s school, and Alex continued to the academy on his own.

Although he no longer worked at the library, Alex still maintained his habit of coming early. Only a few teachers and students who used to come as early as he had arrived.

"Good morning, Senior Alex." A student greeted Alex when they walked past each other.

He was stunned by the student’s greeting, plus he didn’t feel any ridicule from the other party.

’Strange,’ Alex thought to himself as he kept walking.

But again, Alex met a teacher and the same thing happened.

"As early as always, if only other students were like you." The teacher said with a smile before walking by.
