Chapter 232: Subduing the lightning elemental spirit

"Hmm?" Alex raised an eyebrow as he glanced around him, realising that he had somehow entered his soul sea and was no longer inside the hall of the vault.His soul sea was like a massive sea filled with vigorous mana and vibrant stars, making it look like a universe. The stars of the lightning element and the stars of the space element dominated the airspace of Alex’s soul sea, while his vast mana looked like an endless sea below.

Alex wondered how he entered his soul sea, he didn’t feel anything strange earlier when he tried to touch the boots.

He proceeded to spread out his senses just to check if this was some sort of formation.

Only then did Alex realise that his body was still inside the hall and his consciousness had only been pulled into his soul sea.

But he was a Saint rank mage, what could be powerful enough to forcibly pull him into his soul sea?

At this moment, a streak of purple lightning shot past Alex like a meteor flashing through the sky.

It was so fast that Alex wasn’t able to see it properly. He turned around to look in the direction that the purple lightning had flown in, but it was already gone.

"A mere Core rank mage dares to try to subdue me? You humans are truly arrogant!" A loud and enraged beastly voice resounded through Alex’s soul sea, causing the mana in Alex’s soul sea to surge like waves.

After the voice spoke, the purple lightning flashed again but instead of disappearing like it did previously, it stopped a few tens of meters in front of Alex; now he could see what the purple lightning was clearly.

It resembled a panther with a single long horn on its forehead and two large illusory wings stretched to their full lengths on its back. Just like the white cub and the wolf that Alex had seen previously, this panther was fully covered in purple lightning.

’It must be the soul of the lightning elemental spirit,’ Alex thought to himself after taking a single glance, he could tell that this soul was as powerful as a calamity rank beast because it felt dozens of times more powerful than Alicia when Alex first met her.

If Alex had truly been a Core rank mage, then this soul would definitely have destroyed his soul sea just like those two men at the front of the gates had said.

Sadly for it, Alex wasn’t a Core mage.

The elemental spirit seemed to have realised this as well after appearing and looking around.

"How can the soul sea of a Core mage be so huge and how can you have so many stars? Are humans evolving? No, that can’t be the case. Why do you have stars of two different elements? What are you?" The panther growled at Alex, now feeling suspicious and cautious.

"Me? I’m just a Core mage trying to get a magic item." Alex replied with a wide smile before releasing his true strength the next moment.

Boom!

The mana in Alex’s soul sea erupted into the air like exploding volcanoes as the pressure of a Saint rank mage enveloped the entire soul sea.

Because this was happening in Alex’s soul sea, the pressure of what was going on didn’t leak out. If one saw Alex in the vault, he was just standing in front of the sky boots with his eyes closed.

Meanwhile, back inside Alex’s soul sea.

After releasing his true strength, his smile turned menacing as he slowly drifted towards the lightning panther.

" Saint rank mage? As expected, even then, you can’t subdue me so easily!" The panther roared before disappearing into a flicker of purple lightning that flashed around the soul sea. It looked like a ball of lightning that kept teleporting, and Alex was unable to keep up.


He didn’t think it was strange though, after all, the panther was an elemental spirit specialist in speed; it was only reasonable that Alex would be unable to keep up with its movements.

"Hehehe, even if I can’t destroy your soul sea, you’ll never subdue me!" The panther snickered as it continued to flash around the place.

"Oh, you might be right but that would have been possible if we were somewhere else. But right now, you’re inside my soul sea.

Not only is everything here under my control, but my lightning is superior." Alex chuckled as his eyes changed colours the next second, turning pitch black as strands of black lightning flashed across his body.

At the same time, the hundreds of black stars inside his soul sea reacted and started to form into constellations.

Swoosh!!

Alex vanished from where he was standing and appeared in front of the panther that was still sprinting the next moment.

The panther was startled by Alex’s sudden increase in speed and came to an abrupt halt, wanting to dash in another direction.

"Not so fast," Alex smirked as his eyes changed from black to silver white.

Space froze as the panther found itself unable to move, and an invisible force had locked it in place.

It was Alex using telekinesis!

"How can a human possess two elements? This is unacceptable!" The panther growled as it tried to break free from the invisible force that was locking it in place.

"Unacceptable? True, but there’s nothing you can do about it, is there? Come, become my magic item." Alex voiced out, his eyes flashing with an excited glint as he inched closer to the lightning elemental spirit.

"Nooooo!" The panther roared, unwilling to comply.

Some time later, outside the two large gates of the vault.

Ellie stood in front of the gate as she waited patiently for Alex to come out. She would occasionally glance at the deeper part of the corridor, but couldn’t see Alex coming out.

The two men, on the other hand, had returned to sitting cross-legged and were absorbing mana, but they kept their eyes open this time.

"What’s taking him so long? He still hasn’t found a magic item of his liking?" Ellie said with a somewhat worried look on her face, it had been over thirty minutes since Alex went inside the vault.

"Young ones are easily attracted by things beyond their control. He might have ignored our warnings and gone to get a high-grade magic item.

Maybe his soul sea has been destroyed by the soul of the magic beast and he’s currently lying unconscious in one of the halls." One of the men said expressionlessly.

"If he doesn’t come out after an hour, we’ll go look for him. Don’t worry, even if his soul sea is destroyed, he won’t die and will only need to use a long time to heal.

But this would be an important lesson for him." The second man added.

Ellie stared at both of them, her worried look becoming more apparent. Could it be that Alex had really passed out after his soul sea was damaged?

’But that won’t be good, he’s still recovering from whatever happened to him before, it would be a disaster if he gets injured again.’ Ellie felt sad just thinking about it.

At this moment, her eyes caught a glimpse of a person walking over from the end of the corridor. She looked, and her eyes lit up upon seeing Alex, and from the way he was walking, he didn’t appear injured.
