Now that he had reached the highest rank known to mages which was the Saint mage rank, he didn’t have any reason to be afraid and keep hiding his true identity anymore. He could now disclose that he was Mr Chen and did not need to hide his wealth from his family members.

He also didn’t need to continue going to the academy anymore and could abandon the tournament, he didn’t really care what happened to the academy if he suddenly left. Their performance during the tournament would definitely drop due to his absence, just like Laura’s, but that didn’t concern Alex.

After all, the academy had turned a blind eye to most of the injustice he had suffered during his years as a trash.

However, on second thought, Alex didn’t feel alright with suddenly deleting the identity of Mr Chen and drawing all of the attention to himself. If everyone knew that he was Mr Chen, many of them would definitely come to bother him for one reason or another, just like how they were trying to form connections with Mr Chen right now.

The only reason why he could still avoid them was that they couldn’t find him. But if they knew Alex was Mr Chen, they would just go directly to his family and beg for an audience. His family wouldn’t be able to live a simple life after his revelation as well and might even start to avoid public places.

And while no one would dare to offend him, the hearts of humans were unpredictable, especially those from the Dark Union who didn’t fear dying.

Would he need to take away his family’s freedom just so he could protect them at all times by keeping them by his side at all times?

Another thing that occurred to Alex was that he still didn’t know a lot of things about magic and the things on this planet; his current knowledge was that of an academy student, which wasn’t enough.

To know more, he would need to go to a magic university and explore this vast world of magic without being constantly bothered by people who wanted to form connections with him.

For this reason, Alex had decided to remain in the academy and participate in the tournament so as to catch the eyes of a good magic university.

While on that, he’ll continue to maintain the identity of Mr Chen and explore places where his identity as Alex couldn’t reach.



It was a win-win situation.

Plus, he was a young youth who didn’t get the chance to experience college life in his previous world and still had many school fantasies that he wanted to experience, going to a magic university would help him fulfil this wish of his.

After thinking of this, Alex came out of the pit. He only intended to jump a bit, but he ended up launching himself several hundred meters into the sky.

He decided not to use Void Walk, even though it would be faster, and blinked several times instead.

Now that he had reached the Saint rank, the distance that he could Blink to had also increased greatly so it only took him a few spells to enter Balon City.

Reaching Balon City, Alex used Void Walk to enter the Union building.

Due to how popular he was now and how many people wanted to meet him, the bottom floor of the Union building was always packed with people around evening because it was the time that Mr Chen usually came to the Union building and their only chance of meeting him.

For this reason, branch leader Clint had suggested that whenever Mr Chen wanted to come to the Union building, he could directly come to his office. So when Alex entered the Union building, he had opened the second gate in Clint’s office.

William and Clint were discussing inside the office when Alex appeared out of thin air in front of them. Both of them were surprised when they saw him before inviting him to join them. What they were discussing was the auction that was to be held this evening.

The two were still making arrangements for the items that would be auctioned later in the evening. Since Mr Chen was a guest appraiser they had invited and also a figure whom they respected, they didn’t feel it was wrong to have him join in the discussion.



But Alex just stayed silent through the entire conversation as he just listened to the two. What could he possibly contribute when his knowledge of this planet was only that of a magic academy student?

Alex didn’t interrupt them and allowed them to finish, only after they were done did he inform them that he was here to sell beast corpses.

The two brought Alex to the large room for him to take out the corpses. The exchange process was done quickly as William and Clint worked together to sort out the corpses of the magic beasts that Alex had brought back, and an additional amount of 55 million Zen was added to Alex’s Union card before he left the Union building and returned home.

During dinner with his family, Alex informed his family that he intended to attend the Union auction that evening. Since the clearing of the base of the Dark Union last week, Balon City had been very peaceful so Alex’s parents had no issues with him going to the auction.

They only asked if he was going by himself or with someone. Alex said that he was going with the members of the Rising Wave group and wouldn’t be by himself.

His parents easily agreed after hearing, Emily even said that she wanted to go with him but his parents refused.

This made Emily upset and only cheered up a bit after Alex promised to get something for her.

Alex left not long after. He used Void Walk after reaching a quiet corner and returned to the Union building; he had already equipped his mask and robe by the time he reached the Union building.

Reaching the Union building, Alex saw that they were already preparing for the auction. He soon found Lance who brought him to the storage room where all of the items that would be auctioned were kept.

The storage room was just as large as the room where Alex usually took out the beast corpses that he wanted to sell to the Union. There were hundreds of items stored in this place and members of the Union were still bringing in more! Lance told him that most of the items in the storage room were from people who wanted to auction their stuff and only some of the things belonged to the Union.

The appraisal soon started. Lance invited Alex to an area and appointed an assistant to help him carry the things that he would be appraising. The attendant was a man in his late twenties, he had a nervous look on his face as he stared at Alex.

It wasn’t that he was scared, he was only nervous since the person he was attending to was the famous Mr Chen.

After summoning some courage, he introduced himself and stated how long he had been training to be an appraiser.



Alex was shocked to hear that the other party had been studying to be an appraiser, yet he had been an assistant to someone like him who hadn’t even trained for a single day.

Thankfully, he had his mask; Alex would have risked embarrassing himself.

After a brief exchange, the assistant started bringing the items to Alex.

Alex would simply look at them before spitting out the information that the mask provided, and the assistant would then proceed to write it down.

The information given by the mask was always accurate and sometimes even contained information that was not necessarily needed.

Let alone the assistant, even Lance and the other master appraisers who had been invited were shocked by Mr Chen’s precision.

Meanwhile, Alex was secretly shocked by the variety of things that he had to appraise. They included mana cores, magic beast parts, spell books, magic items, and even eggs of magic beasts and even young magic beasts that could be trained to become contracted beast companions of mages who had the summoning element!

His knowledge about this world was really shallow, he had a lot that he still had to learn.

After the appraisal session, Alex received 20 million Zen as payment for his hard work.

This amount stunned Alex as it was added to his Union card by Lance who was the head of appraisers in this Union branch.

Twenty million Zen for just appraising some items? Alex realised that there were other professions that could let him earn more than what he usually made from selling beast corpses.

"Mr Chen, the auction will be starting soon. A private VVIP room has been reserved for you. Would you like to head there now?" Lance said with a smile as they watched some staff bringing the items away.
