Chapter 151: A bird cry

The next day, Alex arrived in front of the base of his group around 9 in the morning; they were going for another raid.

The armoured vehicles that they had used the last time were already waiting outside the group’s base when Alex arrived. Walking into the building, he saw that everything was prepared to set off and was just waiting for him.

Immediately they saw Alex, the members of the group almost drowned him with words, congratulating him on his performance during the tournament and his academy advancing to the second round.

Alex smiled and said it was nothing worth mentioning while waving his hands in a shy manner.

Simon and a few members of the group agreed with him, saying that they had expected such a performance considering what they had seen him do before; they didn’t expect any of the other students to be able to beat him.

After that, they brought up a topic that Alex had previously thought they had forgotten about.

The girl he sneaked out to go meet on the night of the auction!

Alex was speechless as he stared at the curious men and women looking at him with shining 6, eager to hear his story.

Unable to clear his name, he decided to play along. He admitted that he had indeed gone out to meet a girl but was rejected.

The group members were shocked to hear that Alex was rejected, they found it difficult to believe.

They began to talk down on the girl that had rejected Alex. Saying it was her loss and that she was very stupid and blind to reject someone as good-looking as Alex. On top of that, he was a young explorer with a bright future, any girl would be lucky if he looked in their direction.

Some even went as far as to say that they would have considered Alex if they were just a few years younger.



"Hehe, I bet she watched the tournament and saw your performance, she must be crying in regret for the past few days." Joan covered her lips and giggled, feeling that it served that girl right.

"I was also about to say the same thing, who knew that young girls these days can be so stupid. Besides, what’s her name? She must be very good-looking, too, to have enough confidence to turn you down." The rough-looking man joined in and asked.

Alex replied that he couldn’t remember.

You don’t remember the name of a girl you tried to ask out? Maybe you weren’t too interested in her to start with and she noticed it, must be why she rejected you.

Sigh, poor girl must have thought Alex was a player who only wanted her body.

Still, she should not have turned him down and slowly made him fall in love with her instead.

The group members started to have different thoughts which they didn’t voice out.

Mia and Selena arrived in the living room at this moment and everyone set out.

The armoured vehicles drove into the main road and soon left Balon City. This time, they weren’t raiding with other explorer groups so they didn’t go too far after leaving the City.

They stopped around a forest that was only a few miles away from Balon City and started their raid.

Time passed as the group stayed together to look for and hunt magic beasts. This forest was filled with common rank beasts and only a handful of mutated rank magic beasts.

Whenever they encountered a mutated rank magic beast, Mia would ask Joan and a few others to watch over Alex while the rest of the group joined her to kill it.

Although they knew how capable Alex was, his explorer’s experience was still weak compared to the others; it was better to be safe than sorry.



As for other times when they encountered common rank magic beasts, Mia, Selena, and Clint would stay at the side and let the others do the work, including Alex.

By evening, they had killed over a hundred magic beasts, with Alex killing quite a good number of them.

The members of the group were currently gathering the corpses of the magic beasts that they had just killed into their storage devices. Alex, who was also storing beast corpses suddenly narrowed his eyes as he felt something.

A loud bird cry echoed through the evening sky, shocking all of the members of the group, Mia included.

Along with the bird’s cry was a horrifying aura that almost scared them to death!

Luckily, it seems like they weren’t the target of the creature and it was far from their location.

Mia immediately ordered everyone to stop what they were doing and leave right away.

No one dared to delay and immediately abandoned the rest of the beast corpses before hurrying out of the forest and returning to their vehicles.

Alex also followed them, but he had already spread his senses to the maximum, covering thousands of miles in an instant.

’It must be at the Divine beast rank.’ Alex thought to himself as he returned to where the armoured vehicles were kept with the other members of the group.

He planned to leave with them today and return tomorrow by himself to look for the bird; such a bird couldn’t hide from him anyway.

Its aura was too powerful and Alex could sense it from thousands of miles away, so he wasn’t afraid of not being able to find it the next day.

Although he would really love to just go right now, what explanation did he plan to give Mia and the others for suddenly disappearing?

He might even cause them to worry and start looking for him instead of returning to the city without him. What if they encountered a transformed rank magic beast in his absence?

Because of this, Alex decided to return with them first and then come back tomorrow.

The armoured vehicles soon roared to life as their engines started before speeding back in the direction of the City. Only after returning to the safety of the city did the group finally relax, many of them were already sweating without even realising it.

They couldn’t be blamed, they had just escaped sure death after all.

After entering the City, Mia instructed the rest of the group to return to base while the armoured vehicle that she was in drove toward the Union building.

Alex was inside this armoured vehicle too. Mia planned to report to the Union about the bird before taking him home, and the group will stop raiding activities for the time being.
