129: Chapter 129 When the Giant Beast Emerges from the Water
Inside the presidential suite on the third floor of the villa, all the lights were off.
Only the several virtual screens in front of Chen Feng emitted a faint blue glow.
On the screens, dense clusters of red dots representing zombies across Eden Island were frantically devouring the faint white dots that represented survivors.
"Chen, the infection rate has already surpassed 85%."
"As expected. The data collection is almost complete. For the general population, the T-004 Virus has a conversion time of three to five minutes; for trained armed personnel, the conversion time is longer, but their comprehensive attributes after mutation will be higher."
Chen Feng muttered to himself, then pulled a black terminal that looked like an old-fashioned pager from his pocket.
"Since the money has arrived, the after-sales service must be top-notch."
Chen Feng pressed his thumb against the red lever on the side of the terminal and pushed it upward gently.
"Restrictions lifted."
The command, sent via a special neural simulation signal, instantly bypassed all signal jamming layers on the island.
...
In the underground monitoring center, a giant incubation tank that had been in a dormant state began to react.
"Hum—!"
Accompanied by a dull electromagnetic hum, the green nutrient solution inside the tank began to boil violently, with countless bubbles churning upward.
Standing over two and a half meters tall, with grayish-brown muscles and wearing a specialized restraint suit, Tyrant T-501 snapped its eyes open. Its emotionless pupils were instantly filled with a violent red light.
Crack!
Reinforced tempered glass capable of withstanding heavy machine-gun fire was as fragile as paper under a casual swing of its arm.
The Tyrant stepped out of the incubation tank, its heavy footsteps landing on the alloy floor with a tooth-aching thud. It tilted its head, seemingly acclimating to the smell of blood in the air, before letting out a low growl and tearing off the nearby two-ton hydraulic bulletproof door with one hand.
At the same time.
In the woods behind the villa, five massive alloy cages opened automatically.
"Hiss— Hah—"
Piercing screeches echoed one after another.
Three Lickers with exposed skin and brains darted out of the cages like red lightning. They moved across the vertical cliffs as if on level ground, their long tongues flickering to catch thermal signals in the air.
On the other side at the training grounds, twenty Hellhounds with blood-red eyes and bodies as large as calves also broke free from their electronic collars.
From this moment on, the slaughter shifted from disorganized chaos to efficient harvesting.
...
"What was that sound?"
In the corridor on the second floor of the villa, several surviving mercenaries stood back-to-back, staring into the shadows at the end of the hall in terror.
"Who cares what it is, fire! Fire!"
Muzzle flashes instantly illuminated the darkness.
But a second later, a massive shadow smashed right through the concrete wall on the side, crashing into the crowd like an out-of-control heavy tank.
Tyrant T-501.
It didn't even use any combat techniques; it was a simple, raw collision.
Bang!
The mercenary at the very front didn't even have time to scream. He was like a tomato hit by a high-speed train, instantly turning into a smear of pulp against the wall. In the narrow corridor, the sound of shattering bones was clearly audible.
The Tyrant reached out with its massive hand, grabbing another man by the throat and lifting him up like a chick.
No matter how much the man frantically emptied his rifle into its chest, sending sparks flying, the Tyrant didn't even flinch.
Creeak.
With a squeeze of its palm, the man's neck was twisted into a pretzel, his head drooping limply to the side.
"Monster... This is an Umbrella monster!"
The remaining mercenaries broke down completely. They threw away their weapons and turned to run, only to collide head-on with a Licker diving from the ceiling.
A tongue several meters long, like a steel whip, instantly wrapped around one man's waist and dragged him into the darkness.
...
Inside the suite.
Chen Feng watched the real-time slaughter displayed on the screen and whistled with satisfaction.
"The Tyrant's performance is stable enough. Even without the second-form restraint suit, it can crush armed forces of this level."
Chen Feng picked up the satellite phone on the desk and tuned into a channel.
The moment the signal connected, Marcus's voice came through the communicator.
"Boss, the USS has entered the designated waters and is ready to act at any time."
Chen Feng stood up, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and looked out at the burning island with a cold expression.
"Listen carefully, Marcus, I'll repeat the mission one more time."
"Mission One: Rescue all victims. Remember, those children are our witnesses and our spoils of war. I don't want to see a single unnecessary scratch on them."
"Mission Two: Clear all armed resistance on the island. Aside from the people we're taking, I don't want any living creatures left breathing on this island. Whether they're mercenaries or those who aren't quite dead yet, deal with all of them."
"Mission Three: Recover all B.O.W. assets. The data for the Tyrants and Lickers must be fully uploaded. If they are severely damaged, destroy them on-site. Leave no traces behind."
"Understood, Boss. What about that Epstein?"
"Him? Doesn't he love this kind of hunting game? Then let him be the prey and play until the very end."
Hanging up the phone, Chen Feng looked out toward the horizon of the Caribbean Sea.
Under the moonlight, the originally calm sea surface suddenly began to churn violently.
A massive shadow was slowly rising from the deep sea, creating waves that crashed against the island's reefs with a deafening roar.
Splash—!
Accompanied by a towering spray of water, a massive black submarine broke the surface.
There were no national markings on its sleek hull, only rings of reinforced pressure-resistant plating.
This was a Russian-made Oscar-class Cruise Missile Nuclear Submarine that Weber had helped Umbrella acquire through his connections in the Russian Federation, though it currently carried no munitions.
This deep-sea beast, originally designed to hunt aircraft carriers, had now become the Umbrella Corporation's private transport vessel.
"Chen, this big toy Mr. Weber sent is indeed a bit exaggerated." Sarah stood beside Chen Feng, looking at the steel giant surfacing with a bit of a daze.
"Big? I think it's just right."
The submarine's launch hatches slowly opened, and dozens of black covers popped out.
Armed helicopters painted entirely black with no markings rose into the air like a swarm of venomous wasps from the abyss, using the submarine's deck as a temporary platform, and headed toward various strategic points on Eden Island.
