81: Chapter 81: A Frenzy of Buying!

"This is the epoch-making product you were talking about? Clark, have you gone senile, spending taxpayer money to play house with some East Asian kid?"

The Pentagon, Basement Level 3, Special Test Field Observation Room.

The speaker was a white-haired old man with four stars on his shoulders. Richard Miller, the current Army Chief of Staff, was a well-known hawk. He glanced at the empty simulated block outside the bulletproof glass, then shifted his gaze to Chen Feng, his contempt unconcealed.

Chen Feng was wearing a casual suit today, and standing among this group of military bigwigs in their crisp uniforms, he indeed looked a bit out of place.

"General Miller, times have changed." Clark folded his arms, as steady as a mountain. "You will soon understand what a true war machine is."

"War machine?" Miller scoffed. "Based on that security company of his? Does making a few boxes of cancer drugs really make him think he's a savior? I have the most elite Navy SEALs under my command, twenty top-tier veterans with actual combat experience. They're using live ammunition today! Are you sure your so-called 'product' won't be turned into a beehive?"

Chen Feng pulled over a chair and sat down, casually picking up the black coffee on the table and taking a sip.

"General, my product is using training rounds," Chen Feng said flatly. "After all, the cost of training a Navy SEAL is quite high. If they get broken, who's going to pay for it?"

As soon as these words were spoken, the faces of the seven core members of the Military Committee in the observation room all changed in unison. Arrogant! Too arrogant!

"Sharp-tongued," Miller snorted coldly. "I hope you can still be this arrogant when it's time to collect the bodies later."

"Let's begin." Clark didn't bother with nonsense and directly pressed the green button on the main console.

Outside the bulletproof glass, the lights of the massive simulated city block lit up.

Twenty fully armed former Navy SEALs quickly entered the field, occupying high ground and using overlapping cover with impeccable tactical movements. The M4A1 Assault Rifles in their hands were all loaded with live ammunition, and they were even equipped with two light machine guns and grenade launchers. This firepower configuration was enough to fight a small local war.

On the other side of the field, a heavy lift platform slowly rose.

Accompanied by the heavy sound of mechanical operation, a 2.7-meter-tall behemoth appeared in everyone's sight.

Clad in a special black bulletproof coat, its exposed dark red muscles were knotted together. Its right eye opened, its grayish-yellow pupil coldly scanning the block ahead. It held a Six-barreled Rotary Machine Gun in one hand, with a miniature missile launcher mounted on its shoulder.

"What the hell is that monster?" A Vice Admiral couldn't help but swear.

Miller also frowned, but his words remained stubborn: "What's the use of looking scary? On the battlefield, you rely on brains and firepower! Fire!"

Inside the field, the Navy SEAL squad leader issued commands through his headset.

"Target in sight, fire at will!"

Dense gunfire instantly erupted in the underground space. Muzzle flashes spat out as hundreds of 5.56mm steel-core rounds rained down upon Nemesis.

The generals in the observation room instinctively leaned forward. In their view, no carbon-based organism could survive such a dense net of firepower.

But in the next second, everyone's breathing stopped.

Nemesis didn't dodge. It simply walked forward into the hail of bullets. The bullets hit the black trench coat with dull thuds, and those that hit the exposed muscles were either deflected or stuck in the surface, without a single drop of blood flowing out.

"Damn it! That thing is bulletproof?" Miller's eyes nearly popped out.

Nemesis was not only bulletproof; it also knew how to fight back.

It raised its left arm, and the shoulder-mounted miniature missile launcher quickly locked onto two light machine gun positions in the second-floor windows.

"Swoosh! Swoosh!"

Two miniature missiles loaded with training explosives flew out, trailing smoke, and accurately hit the windows. With two muffled booms, white training smoke instantly engulfed the machine gun positions. The judgment system immediately gave a prompt: two firepower points destroyed, four team members killed.

"Tactical evasion! Spread out!" the Navy SEAL leader roared, cold sweat already drenching his back. What on earth was this thing?

Nemesis gave them no chance to breathe. Its massive body exploded with completely irrational speed, performing a sudden tactical roll to dodge a grenade before charging directly into a cluster of cover on the left.

Despite being 2.7 meters tall, it was as agile as a leopard.

It raised the six-barreled Gatling gun with one hand, and the barrels began to spin.

"Whirrr—"

There were no deafening live-fire reports, only the dense, muffled sounds of the high-pressure gas cylinders firing training rounds.

But the effect was the same.

Nemesis displayed terrifying precision. It didn't spray blindly but used cover to fire short bursts. Every time the barrels paused, a red light would inevitably light up on a Navy SEAL's sensor, emitting the white smoke of a kill.

Cover number three, two men down.

Behind the abandoned vehicle, three men down.

At the alley corner, four men down.

It even used feints to bait their movements! A Navy SEAL just poked his head out to throw a flashbang, but Nemesis had already predicted his position, and a string of training rounds accurately hit his helmet.

A massacre! This was a complete, one-sided massacre!

In less than three minutes.

In the vast simulated block, only Nemesis remained standing. It stopped firing, pointed its muzzle downward, and stood quietly in place, waiting for the next command. Twenty former Navy SEAL elites had been wiped out, lying scattered on the ground with faces full of existential doubt.

Before this monster, they were like infants who had just learned to walk!

A deathly silence filled the observation room.

Only heavy breathing could be heard. Seven military bigwigs, including General Miller who had been shouting earlier, were all pressed against the bulletproof glass, staring unblinkingly at the black giant below.

No one spoke.

Shock! A cognitive-shattering shock!

A single soldier taking on a fully armed special forces squad, ignoring direct fire from small-caliber rifles, carrying its own heavy firepower, and even possessing high tactical intelligence! This wasn't some biological weapon; this was the perfect super soldier!

"This... this thing..." Miller swallowed hard, his proud composure long gone, his voice trembling, "It can understand complex tactical commands?"

"Of course," Chen Feng put down his coffee cup, his tone relaxed. "You can think of it as a Terminator with the consciousness of a top-tier human special forces soldier, while possessing the defensive power and firepower of a light armored vehicle. And it's absolutely loyal."

Absolutely loyal.

These two words directly struck a nerve in everyone present.

The military had worked on super soldier programs for so many years, sinking tens of billions of dollars into them. The 'Ghost Squad' created by that useless Arthur Stone was not only expensive but also prone to losing control! But this thing before them...

"What's the cost?" An Air Force General asked impatiently, his eyes gleaming.

Chen Feng was amused. The fish had taken the bait.

Before Chen Feng could quote a price, Clark pulled a tablet from his coat and tossed it onto the conference table.

"Everyone, that was just the appetizer. It's only because Mr. Chen is good-tempered and afraid of hurting your precious elites that he used training rounds." Clark leaned his hands on the table, his gaze scanning the room. "Now, let me show you the real deal."

The tablet screen lit up, playing the surveillance footage from the New Kobe underground safe house.

The picture quality was a bit blurry, but it was clear enough to see the whole process.

Nemesis burst through the door, withstanding the fire of twelve East Country agents' submachine guns, enduring high-explosive grenades, and its blown-off leg visibly self-healing within seconds. Then, it held the Gatling gun in one hand and turned the entire room into a meat grinder.

Shredded meat covered the floor, and blood flowed like a river.

The recording was only three minutes long. When it finished, the screen went black.

The temperature in the observation room dropped to freezing. If before it was shock, now it was fear. A deep fear mixed with uncontrollable fanaticism!

Withstanding grenades! Instant self-healing!

How the hell do you fight that! If you air-dropped this thing into an enemy capital or sent it on a decapitation strike, who could stop it?

"Buy!" General Miller was the first to react, slamming the table and shouting at Chen Feng with a flushed face. "The Army will order five first! No, ten! The budget will go through the special procurement channel! Mr. Chen, no matter the cost, the Army wants the first batch of delivery rights!"

"Bullshit! What does your Army need this for? To eat sand in Afghanistan?" The Vice Admiral grew anxious. "This thing can be used as the vanguard for amphibious landings! The Marine Corps wants fifteen!"

"We in the Air Force can do high-altitude air-drops! Twenty!"

The military bigwigs, who were high and mighty just moments ago, were now like middle-aged women fighting over discounted eggs in a market, each arguing until they were red in the face.

Whoever possessed this weapon would hold the discourse power in future wars! This was no longer a simple arms deal; it was a reshuffling of military power!

Chen Feng sat in his chair, watching these generals fight over orders, feeling a sense of satisfaction.

This was exactly the effect he wanted. Violence is always humanity's most primitive and effective form of communication.

"Generals, don't be in a hurry." Chen Feng stood up and straightened the hem of his suit. "Umbrella Security Services has limited production capacity. As for how to allocate them, I believe General Clark will give you a reasonable plan."

He kicked the ball directly to Clark.

Clark understood immediately and took over: "We will discuss the specific procurement shares in an internal meeting later. But one thing must be clear: Umbrella is the core strategic partner of the U Federation military. Anyone who dares to move against Mr. Chen and his company is crossing the entire Military Committee!"

With these words, Umbrella and the U Federation military were completely tied together. With this 'death-exemption gold plaque,' no matter if it was domestic or international, anyone who wanted to move against Chen Feng would first have to consider if The Pentagon would allow it.

Just then, a crisp electronic voice sounded in Chen Feng's mind.

[Ding! Detected that the host has successfully intimidated the core level of the U Federation Military Committee.]

[Congratulations, Host! The special privilege 'Military Supplier' (Junior) has been successfully upgraded to 'Military Strategic Partner' (Intermediate)!]

[Privilege Description: The host has now obtained exemption rights for the U Federation military's top-secret procurement channels and can legally produce and sell regulated-level biological weapons. Simultaneously unlocks military-grade material procurement permissions (including but not limited to heavy weapons, rare metals, military aircraft, etc.).]

[Task Reward Issued: Obtained 50,000 Research Points.]

[Current Total Research Points: 378,000.]

Chen Feng was overjoyed. Fifty thousand research points in his pocket, plus a free upgrade to intermediate supplier status. In the future, Umbrella buying weapons to build Tyrants would be a legal and compliant business.

"Mr. Chen." General Miller walked quickly to Chen Feng, his attitude doing a 180-degree turn as he proactively extended his right hand, a bright smile squeezed onto his face. "I apologize for my offense earlier; please forgive me. The Army is very satisfied with your company's product. If you encounter any trouble in Washington in the future, call me anytime."

"General Miller is too kind." Chen Feng shook his hand with a warm smile. "Umbrella has always been committed to maintaining world peace. It is my honor to serve the military."

Maintaining world peace?

The other generals nearby rolled their eyes. Selling this kind of killing machine to maintain peace?

But no one would expose such pleasantries. Everyone here was a seasoned player; there was no need to point out the obvious.

Chen Feng turned to look out the window.

Nemesis still stood quietly in the middle of the messy simulated block, like an invincible demon god.

The era belonging to Umbrella had finally begun.
