226: Chapter 226 The President Goes to Prison

One week later.

Umbrella Headquarters, Los Angeles, top-floor office.

Chen Feng sat with his legs crossed, sinking into the soft sofa, holding a cup of freshly brewed Longjing tea in his hand.

On the giant holographic screen in front of him, a deep-dive special report from the "Voice of the Globe" was playing.

"...In the past week, the 'Pandora Storm' triggered by the Eden Island scandal has swept the globe. According to incomplete statistics, over a hundred politicians and billionaires across more than thirty-seven countries have resigned or come under investigation as a result. The global financial markets have seen over three trillion dollars in market value evaporate. Among them, the Morgan and Rockefeller financial groups paid a painful price of nearly one trillion dollars to quiet public opinion..."

The host's clear and resonant voice echoed in the empty office.

Sarah, wearing a well-fitted secretary uniform, walked over with a tablet and reported in a steady voice, "Boss, General Clark's latest public approval rating has broken eighty-two percent, setting a record high in the election history of the U Federation."

"Mhm." Chen Feng took a sip of tea, his eyes still fixed on the screen. "What about President Tanglangpu? Still no movement?"

"She is under house arrest in the White House, and all her external communications have been cut off. However, she refuses to sign the resignation agreement and is threatening to activate the 'Final Plan' to demand lifetime immunity and ten billion dollars in compensation." There was a trace of disdain in Sarah's tone.

"The 'Final Plan'?" Chen Feng raised his eyes slightly.

"The activation codes for the nuclear football."

"Heh." Chen Feng chuckled and set down his teacup. "That old hag really thinks she's a big deal. Even at a time like this, she still wants to play extreme pressure with me?"

Did she think he would be afraid?

The Pentagon has already declared neutrality. The nuclear football in her hands can't even set off a high-grade firework right now.

"It seems she won't shed a tear until she sees her coffin." Chen Feng stood up, walked to the giant French window, and looked down at the city beneath his feet.

"Sarah, call Weber."

"Yes, sir."

"Tell him to pass a message to Old Morgan and Old Rockefeller. Tell them I said this." Chen Feng looked out the window, his tone as flat as if he were ordering a trivial matter.

"My patience is limited."

"Before dawn tomorrow, I do not want to see that woman's shadow in the White House ever again."

Sarah lightly tapped the tablet with her fingertip. Without asking why or how, she simply replied calmly, "Understood."

To those two old men who had already been scared out of their wits, the boss's "do not want to see" was an imperial decree that could not be disobeyed.

They would use every means possible to make that woman disappear from that position.

...

The White House, the Oval Office.

The room that once symbolized the highest power in the world now felt like a magnificent cage.

President Tanglangpu's hair was disheveled, and she looked as if she had gone mad.

She smashed everything on her desk to pieces, leaving fragments of precious antique vases and documents scattered all over the floor.

"Get out! All of you, get out!" she shrieked at the two expressionless Secret Service agents at the door. "I am the President! How dare you treat me like this? I will have you all court-martialed!"

However, no one paid any attention to her roaring.

Just then, the heavy door of the office was pushed open.

The head of the Secret Service, a man named Hansen, walked in with four armed agents. The respect of the past was gone from his face, replaced only by cold indifference.

"Ms. President Tanglangpu." He did not even bother to use the title "President" anymore.

Seeing him, President Tanglangpu lunged forward as if grabbing a final lifeline. She grabbed his collar and screamed, "Hansen! Make them get out! Quick! Someone is staging a coup! Protect me! That is an order!"

Hansen remained motionless. Looking at her with cold eyes, he spoke slowly, "Just five minutes ago, the nine justices of the Supreme Court voted unanimously to permanently strip you of your presidential immunity on charges of 'treason' and 'crimes against humanity'."

"No! Impossible!" President Tanglangpu's scream became shrill. "They wouldn't dare! Morgan and Rockefeller would never agree to this!"

"They were the ones who proposed it." Hansen's cold words completely shattered President Tanglangpu's final line of psychological defense.

He gently pushed away President Tanglangpu's now-weak hands and took a step back.

"In accordance with the Constitution of the U Federation, I declare that you are under arrest."

Two towering agents stepped forward, grabbing President Tanglangpu's arms tightly from both sides.

With a sharp click, the cold metal handcuffs locked around the hands that had once signed countless bills.

At this moment, all of President Tanglangpu's madness and arrogance deflated instantly like a punctured balloon.

Her legs gave way, and she collapsed to the floor, supported by the two agents who dragged her out like a dead dog.

"No... Let me go... I am the President... You can't do this to me..."

She wailed incoherently, her voice filled with despair and terror.

As she was dragged out of the Oval Office, all the White House staff stood on both sides of the corridor, watching her with cold indifference.

The faces that had once bowed, scraped, and flattered her now showed nothing but contempt and schadenfreude.

Countless camera flashes lit up, and journalists swarmed in like sharks smelling blood.

The first female president in the history of the U Federation was nailed to the pillar of historical shame in the most humiliating and wretched way.

...

Clark's campaign headquarters, Chicago.

On the giant screen, the drama of the century outside the White House gates was being broadcast live.

The moment they saw President Tanglangpu handcuffed and led into the prison van, the entire headquarters erupted in a mountain-shaking, tsunami-like roar of cheers.

Staff members hugged each other, excitedly throwing documents into the air as champagne corks popped.

"We won! We won!"

"General! The White House is beckoning to you!"

Howard Grant's face was flushed with excitement. He grabbed Clark's arm, tears streaming down his old face.

However, Clark himself was unusually calm.

He just quietly watched the distorted, desperate face on the screen, with no joy in his eyes, only a cold, grim determination.

He turned off the screen and looked around at the celebrating crowd. His voice was not loud, but it reached everyone's ears clearly.

"This is not the end."

The cheering came to an abrupt halt, and everyone turned to look at him.

Clark walked to the French window, looking at the myriad of lights outside, his voice as cold as iron.

"This is just the beginning."

"Sweeping a piece of trash out of that seat is easy." He turned around, his sharp gaze sweeping over everyone. "But cleaning up all the trash in Washington—that is our true mission."

"Gentlemen, get ready to work."

"A great purge is about to begin."

...

Umbrella Headquarters, Los Angeles.

Chen Feng watched the news broadcast of President Tanglangpu being escorted into a maximum-security prison, picked up his teacup, and took a leisurely sip.

"Boss, everything is going according to plan," Sarah's voice came.

"Mhm."

Chen Feng smiled and turned off the screen.

An era has come to an end.

But for him, an even more spectacular show has just begun.

"Inform Alan that he can start cleaning up the battlefield," Chen Feng ordered. "Since Morgan and Rockefeller have bled so much, we should help them recoup some losses, and while we're at it, scoop up those premium assets dropped on the ground."

"Also, tell Clark's side to move faster."

"I don't have time to wait for him to slowly go through some power transition."

Chen Feng wore a half-smile.

"When a new king ascends the throne, there must be a decent congratulatory gift."

"Tell him that the first gift I'm sending him is already on its way."}],
