193: Chapter 193 The Frenzy of Capital and Public Opinion
In the situation room, Chen Feng turned off the recording from the White House, and the screen went dark.
Sarah placed her wine glass on the table. "Chen, what's the next move? Should we throw Amos directly to the Haifa court?"
"No rush." Chen Feng leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the tabletop. "The political deadlock has been set, but the main show has only just begun. To cause such a stir without pocketing a little pocket money would be a disservice to the passionate performances of President Tanglangpu and Prime Minister Netanyahu."
He sat up straight and pulled up an encrypted channel.
"Connect to New York, get Alan."
The screen switched.
New York, Manhattan, the top floor of a skyscraper on Wall Street.
Sixty-two-year-old Alan Fisher was sitting behind his desk. He was wearing a well-tailored, high-end suit, with gold-rimmed glasses perched on the bridge of his nose. Since taking "Neo-Genesis," his previously exhausted energy had fully recovered, and now, pulling three all-nighters to watch the market was no problem at all.
The encrypted communicator on the desk lit up with a green light.
Alan glanced at the special code on the screen, immediately waved his hand to make the fund managers in the office leave, and locked the glass door.
"Mr. Chen." Alan connected the video, his tone crisp and efficient. "What do you need? If it's a routine financial report, you can find my assistant."
"Alan, I have a project here that will keep you up all night with excitement." Chen Feng's face appeared on the screen, with the dimly lit situation room in the background.
Alan pushed up his glasses. "I'm only interested in excess profits. Tell me, what is it?"
"Two pieces of news." Chen Feng held up two fingers. "First, a few hours ago, the special rescue team sent by the U Federation Middle East theater to the Zagros Mountains, including 'Delta Force' and 'Rangers,' were completely wiped out. Colonel Raymond Cole, who led the team, didn't even leave a scrap behind. To cover up the truth, General Kendall called in a B-1B bomber to sanitize the scene."
Alan's fingers paused abruptly on the desk.
"Second, the Golan Heights fortress of Israel was breached three hours ago. Three thousand defenders vanished into thin air, and the supreme commander, Amos ben Shabbat, is currently wearing a dog collar and sitting in my cargo hold."
The office went silent instantly.
Alan stared at the screen, his breathing rhythm clearly disrupted. He knew exactly what these two pieces of news meant.
The myth of the U Federation military's invincibility was shattered, and internal scandals could not be covered up; Israel's strongest fortress was destroyed in seconds, and its national security defense line directly collapsed.
"Is the news confirmed?" Alan asked.
"I did it myself." Chen Feng replied nonchalantly.
Alan stood up abruptly, his movement too forceful, causing his leather chair to hit the floor-to-ceiling window behind him.
He walked quickly to the screen, his eyes filled with greed and fanaticism.
"My god..." Alan quickly unbuttoned his suit jacket and loosened his tie. "Once these two pieces of news detonate in the market, the global capital market will panic instantly! Risk aversion will drive all funds into safe havens!"
"I didn't call you to go trade gold." Chen Feng interrupted him.
Alan rested his hands on the desk, staring at Chen Feng. "You want to short?"
"Short everything." Chen Feng nodded. "Use all the funds we can mobilize, add leverage. There are two targets. First, the U Federation's military-industrial sector. Lockheed, Boeing, Raytheon—smash the stocks of these giants to death."
"The 'perfect weapons' that General Kendall bought were the defective products I sold him. Once the video of the front line being wiped out is exposed online, the U Federation military's procurement scandal will completely explode. Military stocks will definitely face an epic plunge."
Alan nodded repeatedly, already rapidly building financial models in his mind.
"Second, Israel's sovereign bonds." Chen Feng continued to throw out chips. "I've already prepared Amos's confession video. He will spill all the dirty things Tel Aviv and The Pentagon did in the Middle East on camera. Once the video is released, Israel's national credit will go bankrupt directly. I want you to short all their sovereign debt and currency."
Alan swallowed hard.
In their line of work, shorting a listed company is usually considered a big deal. Chen Feng, on the other hand, starts by wanting to short the core industry of a superpower, plus shorting a sovereign state!
"The risk is huge." Alan assessed habitually. "Those old foxes on Wall Street aren't pushovers. Once the amount of funds we use is too large, we will definitely be targeted by regulatory agencies."
"Regulatory agencies?" Chen Feng laughed. "Have you forgotten who else is in our alliance? Howard Grant will help you handle the connections at the FDA and the SEC, and Edgar Winston's 'Voice of the Globe' will coordinate with you to release the news. All you have to do is take the money and rob the market."
Hearing these two names, Alan's concerns were completely dispelled.
With cover in the political sphere, someone to create momentum in public opinion, and holding an absolute information advantage.
This was a one-sided slaughter!
"How much profit can we make?" Chen Feng asked.
Alan tapped the keyboard rapidly, with dense data and K-line charts jumping on the screen.
"If we detonate the news according to the rhythm you described..." Alan stared fixedly at the screen. "Conservatively estimated, this harvest will yield profits between two hundred billion and three hundred billion US dollars. If we push leverage to the limit, we could even hit five hundred billion."
Five hundred billion US dollars.
This amount of money is enough to buy several small countries or rebuild a world-class aircraft carrier battle group.
"Then max out the leverage." Chen Feng gave the order. "I want those vampires on Wall Street to vomit up everything they've eaten, with interest. Use the enemy's money to build our base."
"Understood." Alan sneered. "Give me three hours to build positions. Three hours later, you can detonate your 'nuke' at any time."
"Pleasure doing business, Alan."
"Pleasure doing business, Mr. Chen."
The communication cut off.
Alan stood before the huge floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the illuminated Manhattan below.
He picked up the internal phone on his desk.
"Notify everyone in the trading department to get back to the company immediately. Cancel all leave. For the next twenty-four hours, if anyone dares to leave their workstation for even half a step, I will throw them out the window myself!"
"Initiate the 'Black Swan' protocol. Mobilize all funds from offshore accounts and prepare to build positions."
Alan hung up the phone, straightened his tie, and resumed the demeanor of a cold, precise Wall Street tycoon.
The carnival of capital was about to begin.
In the situation room.
Chen Feng stood up and stretched his neck.
"Alan will handle the funds." Chen Feng turned to look at Sarah Mitchell. "How are things going on Edgar Winston's side?"
Sarah Mitchell swiped a few times on her tablet. "Edgar Winston has cleared the front-page headlines of all media under 'Voice of the Globe.' As soon as you give the order, Amos's confession video and the combat footage from the Zagros Mountains will appear simultaneously on major global news networks, social media, and short video platforms. The algorithm has been adjusted to ensure it breaks two hundred million views within ten minutes."
"Very good." Chen Feng walked to the huge holographic projection sand table.
On the sand table, red and blue dots of the Middle East were densely intertwined.
"If President Tanglangpu wants to muddy the waters, then I'll give her a major reversal. I'll splash all the dirty water back onto her own head."
Chen Feng clicked on an audio file, from which came Amos's terrified screams and his confession detailing various confidential plans.
"Edit this confession, add subtitles in multiple languages. Especially the parts about them stealing oil in Syria and assassinating opposition leaders—bold and highlight those subtitles for me."
"Understood."
At this moment, in the White House, the Oval Office.
President Tanglangpu was pacing back and forth in the room, agitated.
General Mike stood aside, holding his breath.
"Have you found out yet?" President Tanglangpu stopped abruptly and pointed at Mike's nose. "What exactly happened with the Golan Heights? Don't give me that nonsense about antimatter weapons again! If Da Shi State had that stuff, they would have already attacked Washington!"
"Madam President, the intelligence agencies are investigating with everything they have. No survivors were left at the scene, and no surveillance footage has been transmitted. We can only rely on satellite imagery for analysis currently." Mike reported, biting the bullet.
"A bunch of useless idiots!" President Tanglangpu cursed loudly, sweeping the documents on the table to the floor. "That idiot Prime Minister Netanyahu has almost blown up my phone! He's insisting now that we stood by and watched, and is threatening to expose all our trump cards in the Middle East!"
She put her hands on her hips, panting.
"What about General Kendall? Didn't that loser say he was going to save people? Were the people rescued?"
Mike's expression became even uglier. "General Kendall reported that the rescue team was ambushed by Da Shi State's chemical weapons and was completely wiped out. To prevent the spread of a chemical crisis, he ordered a blanket bombing."
"Chemical weapons?" President Tanglangpu paused, then became furious. "Does he take me for a three-year-old! Da Shi State doesn't even have a decent chemical plant, where would they get chemical weapons! It must be that idiot's command error that killed Colonel Raymond Cole, and now he's looking for excuses to shirk responsibility!"
"Madam President, Colonel Raymond Cole is the nephew of Senator Jieliman. If Senator Jieliman finds out about this..."
"Shut up! You don't need to remind me!" President Tanglangpu interrupted him irritably.
She slumped into her chair, rubbing her throbbing temples.
Everything had been planned perfectly: using the local conflict in the Middle East to divert domestic attention and suppress the scandal of Eden Island.
Now, not only was it not suppressed, but two enormous disasters had been poked.
Three thousand elite troops mysteriously evaporated, and the ace special forces were completely wiped out.
If this got out, let alone reelection, she would be impeached by Congress immediately, or even sent directly to federal prison.
"Seal the news!" President Tanglangpu raised her head abruptly, her eyes fierce. "Keep these two things under wraps for me! Whoever dares to leak a single word, I'll make them rot in prison!"
"But Madam President, with such a big commotion at the Golan Heights, it can't be hidden..."
"It must be hidden even if it can't be!" President Tanglangpu slammed the table. "Get the CIA to work! Block all related discussions on the internet! Tell Tel Aviv that whoever dares to give an interview, I will cut off their military aid!"
She breathed rapidly, her eyes full of madness.
"As long as I can drag this out for a few days, and wait until I get the special military funding from Congress, everything will still have a chance to turn around."
President Tanglangpu stared fixedly at the red phone on the table.
She still didn't know that an invisible net had already completely enveloped her and the entire U Federation.
And on Wall Street, Alan Fisher's finger was already pressed on the enter key of the trading terminal.
