164: Chapter 164 The Doomsday Blown by the Air Conditioner
Almost at the same time Hunk confirmed the new plan, the entire front line of the Gaza region was instantly ignited.
"Boom—!"
A brand-new Thermobaric RPG Warhead, trailing a long tail of flame, accurately slammed into a machine gun bunker of an SDF forward outpost. The airwave from the violent explosion tore through sandbags weighing over a dozen pounds like scraps of paper, and together with the two machine gunners inside, they were blown into flesh and blood parts flying across the sky.
"Fire! Fire! Allahu Akbar!"
Behind ruins and bunkers, hundreds of Soldiers from the Mahas Resistance Organization let out earth-shaking roars. The weapons in their hands were no longer rusty AK-47s, but well-maintained M4A1s with ample ammunition. Carried on their shoulders were RPGs freshly manufactured by Umbrella Corporation, with ammunition boxes piled up beside them, so many it seemed they could never be exhausted.
An SDF outpost commander hid behind a bunker, looking at the opposite side through binoculars in terror.
Crazy! They've all gone crazy!
Where did these mud-legged peasants get so much sophisticated equipment? Their fire density was even stronger than his own side's!
This wasn't the usual hit-and-run harassment; this was a proper positional advance!
...
Tel Aviv, SDF Supreme Military Command Center.
"Report! Outpost G-3 has lost contact! The last communication reported a saturated rocket attack!"
"Report! Area F-9 observation post has been breached! The enemy... the enemy number at least a battalion!"
"General! Over thirty strongpoints across the entire eastern defense line were simultaneously attacked within five minutes! It's a full-scale offensive! This is a full-scale offensive supported by Da Shi State behind the scenes!"
Alarms blared one after another. On the massive electronic sand table, dozens of green dots representing the SDF defense line turned into a glaring red in rapid succession within just a few minutes.
The generals, who had just barely recovered from the shock of the 7th Armored Brigade headquarters being wiped off the map, were once again plunged into a helpless chaos.
Chief of General Staff Moshe Dayan had an ashen face as he slammed a fist onto the conference table.
"A trap! That damn attack earlier was just a smokescreen!" he roared, the bloodshot veins in his eyes making him look like an enraged lion. "Their goal was to cover this general offensive!"
A perfect logical loop had formed.
First, use an incomprehensible, unconventional weapon to destroy the command hub, creating panic and chaos to knock out their eyes.
Then, while they were mired in suspicion and fear, unable to effectively organize a defense, the conventional forces hidden in the shadows would launch a lightning strike!
"Order the Air Force! All F-16s and F-35s are to take off immediately! Blow those attacking bastards into powder for me!"
"Connect to all armored units on the front line; abandon fixed defenses and immediately counter-charge the points of origin of the attack!"
"If they want to fill the gap with human lives, we'll let them know that modern warfare isn't fought with courage, but with steel!"
Orders were rapidly issued, and the entire SDF war machine roared into operation. All radars, all reconnaissance planes, and all attention were drawn to that front-line battlefield that had instantly become incredibly bloody.
No one noticed that dozens of kilometers away, at the K-4 Airbase forgotten by everyone, the true God of Death had quietly arrived.
...
Periphery of K-4 Airbase, three kilometers away.
Three massive Walkers glided here like ghosts. They made no sound, only scanning the distant base's silhouette with their cold compound eyes.
Then, the chitinous shells of their front limbs slightly opened and closed, and their bodies tilted downward at an incredible angle. Like three earth-drilling machines, they silently vanished beneath the soft sand layer.
The sand surface only rippled slightly before returning to calm, as if nothing had happened.
On the other side, downwind of the dormitory building.
Hunk and his remaining thirty-seven Soldiers advanced silently, hugging the shadows of a sand dune like specters.
They bypassed all regular patrol routes, their movements perfectly synchronized, and even the sound of their footsteps on the sand was almost indistinguishable.
Just then, two SDF patrolmen appeared at the corner ahead. They were smoking and complaining in low voices about when the damn war would end.
Hunk didn't even need to issue an order; a Soldier at his side had already raised a specialized Pneumatic Rifle.
"Pfft."
A sound even fainter than a cough.
One of the patrolmen's bodies suddenly stiffened. He instinctively reached for his neck, his fingertips touching a cold, tiny needle.
"What is..."
He only had time to say those three words before his body began to twitch violently in the next second.
His companion was startled and just about to support him when he saw in horror that his comrade's skin was turning a lifeless grey at a visible rate. His eyes instantly rolled back to white, and turbid saliva continuously flowed from the corner of his mouth.
"Ah! You... what's wrong with you?! Med— ugh!"
His cry for help was abruptly cut off.
The comrade who had just completed the transformation had already lunged forward like a beast, opening his mouth and biting hard into his neck.
Warm blood gushed out.
Hunk walked past them, his gaze not fluctuating in the slightest.
His squad continued forward, leaving behind two corpses that would soon stand up again and a ground covered in gradually cooling blood.
Soon, a six-story dormitory building appeared before them. On the exterior of the building, the massive central air conditioning external circulation intake was emitting a dull roar, continuously sucking the cool desert air inside.
This is the place.
Hunk stopped and raised his hand, making a simple gesture.
Two Soldiers immediately stepped forward and took out two low-temperature storage tanks made of high-strength alloy from their tactical backpacks.
Without the slightest hesitation.
They unscrewed the valves of the storage tanks and poured the two encapsulated deep-blue Primary Solutions inside directly into the intake duct behind the massive fan, as if pouring two bottles of mineral water.
Upon contact with the high-speed flowing air, the deep-blue liquid atomized instantly, forming a light blue mist that was then ruthlessly sucked into the building's ventilation system by the massive suction.
They would follow the metal pipes and be evenly delivered to every room, every corner, and into the nasal cavities of every person sleeping or resting in the building.
...
Dormitory building, third floor, Room 3-0-7.
An SDF soldier who had just finished a twelve-hour ground crew shift was lying on his bed, enjoying a rare moment of rest.
Suddenly, he began to cough violently without warning, as if his lungs were being burned by something.
He struggled to sit up, but his body twitched uncontrollably. He could feel his body temperature rising frantically, and a needle-like stinging sensation came from his skin.
He looked at his arm in horror; the skin there was turning a deathly grey he had never seen before.
"He... help..."
He opened his mouth but could only emit an unintelligible snarl.
Fifteen seconds.
Only fifteen seconds.
His consciousness plunged completely into darkness, replaced by pure, primitive hunger and aggressive desire.
He rolled out of bed and turned his head stiffly, his eyes now completely white as they stared fixedly at his comrade sleeping in the opposite bunk.
"Roar—!"
A roar that did not sound human echoed through the room.
Immediately after, there was the sound of flesh being torn apart.
At the same time, throughout the entire dormitory building, from the first floor to the sixth, in nearly eight hundred rooms, the same twitching, the same snarling, and the same screams rang out one after another.
A janitor cleaning the hallway watched in horror as a door was slammed open, and a soldier with white eyes and blood hanging from the corners of his mouth staggered out, lunging directly at him and pinning him to the floor.
The nightmare had arrived.
The K-4 Airbase, a military fortress supposedly as solid as gold, had begun to rot from the inside without anyone noticing.
A doomsday blown out by air conditioning had officially begun.
