235: Chapter 235 The Bear Taking the Hook

Chen Feng turned around, picked up the lease document signed by Clark from the desk, and tossed it to Sarah.

"Have Hunk take the Third Battalion and head to Okinawa immediately."

Sarah caught the document and glanced at it. "To take over that supply base?"

"That old bastard Clark stripped even the Seventh Fleet bare to save his own skin and handed it to me. It'd be a waste not to take it." Chen Feng walked over to the sofa, sat down, and crossed his legs. "Okinawa is in a prime location; going north, it directly chokes off the Far East. Have Hunk take two hundred Gen-3 Tyrants over there and turn it completely into our forward base."

"Boss, do you think something is going to happen in Siberia soon?" Ada Wong leaned against the doorframe, playing with a lighter in her hand.

"You know how the Russians are. Once they have some vodka, they'll dare to do anything." Chen Feng sneered. "Now that Yuri has that genetic map, he's definitely working day and night. Calculating the time, the first batch of experimental subjects should be ready by now."

He turned to look at Sarah. "Notify Alan on Wall Street to keep a hundred billion dollars in reserve. Once things get messy over on the Russian side, the ruble is bound to plunge. We'll take the opportunity to harvest some profits in the financial market."

"Understood. I'll arrange it right away." Sarah turned and walked out quickly.

A month later.

Deep within the Siberian ice sheets of the Russian Federation.

Abandoned Nuclear Arsenal No. 7 had been completely hollowed out and transformed into a massive underground military fortress. Blinding searchlights lit up the entire air-raid shelter as bright as day.

Yuri of the Foreign Intelligence Service, draped in a heavy military overcoat, stood before the bulletproof glass on the second floor. His eyes were bloodshot, and his entire demeanor exuded an extremely hyperactive, crazed energy.

"Director, the first batch of three hundred 'Winter Soldiers' has been completely incubated." A white-coated, gray-haired senior expert walked over quickly and handed him a thick report. "These are the combat test data for Subject 001."

Yuri didn't even look at the report, pushing it away with his hand. "I don't care about things on paper. I want to see the real thing. Start the test!"

The senior expert swallowed hard and picked up his walkie-talkie. "Open the gate."

Below the glass was a sunken colosseum about the size of half a football field.

The heavy steel gates slowly rose.

Five massive Siberian brown bears were driven in by high-voltage electric prods. These beasts, each weighing over eight hundred pounds, were apex predators that even tigers would normally avoid on the ice sheets. Now, they paced the arena anxiously, low growls rumbling in their throats.

Immediately after, the isolation door on the opposite side slid open.

A monster standing 2.2 meters tall, with rock-hard muscles bulging all over and lifeless, grayish-white skin, shuffled out slowly.

It had no eyes; its entire face consisted of nothing but a gaping maw that split all the way to its ears, filled with rows of jagged, shark-like fangs.

This was the "downgraded Tyrant" that Chen Feng had intentionally leaked to them.

"Stimulate the target!" the senior expert ordered.

High-pitched, ear-piercing noise suddenly blasted from the speakers surrounding the colosseum.

Startled, the five brown bears charged at the grayish-white monster with bloodshot eyes.

The monster stood in place, motionless.

The leading brown bear reared up on its hind legs, its massive paw tearing through the air as it swiped at the monster's head. If this strike landed, even a steel plate would be dented.

The moment before the paw could land, the monster moved.

It abruptly thrust its right arm forward, its five fingers pressed together like a blade, piercing straight into the brown bear's chest cavity.

*Pfft!*

Blood sprayed violently.

The monster ripped the brown bear's heart right out of its chest, dragging a trail of intestines with it.

Before the remaining four brown bears could even react, the monster turned into a gray blur and crashed into them.

Ripping sounds, the cracking of bones, and the agonized shrieks of beasts blended together.

In less than ten seconds.

The colosseum fell silent.

The ground was covered in shredded flesh and organs; not a single intact bone could be found.

The grayish-white monster squatted in the pool of blood, grabbing a large chunk of bloody bear meat with both hands and stuffing it frantically into its mouth. It crunched through bone and flesh alike, blood dripping steadily down its chin.

Yuri gasped at the sight, then slammed his palm against the glass, bursting into a fit of wild laughter.

"Good! Excellent!" Yuri trembled with excitement. "This individual combat capability is simply unmatched! What are those tin cans of the U Federation compared to this treasure? With this army, all of Europe will tremble beneath our treads!"

The senior expert wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and spoke cautiously, "Director, the combat capability is indeed undeniable. However... we discovered a fatal flaw during testing."

"What flaw?" Without even turning his head, Yuri kept his eyes glued to the feeding monster below.

"Their metabolic rate is highly abnormal." The senior expert flipped open the report in his hand, his voice tense. "The daily food consumption of these three hundred test subjects is staggering. Furthermore, if they go hungry for more than twelve hours, they exhibit severe symptoms of mania, losing control completely and even beginning to cannibalize one another."

"Then feed them until they're full!" Yuri waved his hand dismissively. "Siberia has plenty of things, especially wild beasts and hard-labor convicts! Just haul in two truckloads of raw meat every day. We can easily afford that much food!"

"But Director, their appetite is constantly growing..." The senior expert hesitated. He always felt that these monsters' gene sequences were missing some crucial component, like a heavy tank without brakes.

"Shut up! Don't bother me with these minor issues!" Yuri interrupted him harshly. He turned around, looking at the officers behind him with high spirits. "Telegraph Moscow immediately! Phase one of the 'Winter Legion' project is a complete success! I demand an immediate expansion of production. Within three months, I want ten thousand of these super Soldiers built!"

Los Angeles, Umbrella Headquarters, Sublevel 7.

Chief Scientist Samantha, wearing flat shoes, wheeled a silver thermostatic briefcase into the War Room.

"Boss, what you asked for is done."

Samantha placed the briefcase on the desk, entered the passcode, and opened it with a click.

Inside the case, ten green glass canisters were neatly lined up, and on the other side were ten syringes filled with a red liquid.

Chen Feng leaned back in his leather chair, spun around to take a look, and said, "Quite efficient, Samantha. Walk me through it."

"The green one is a special neurotoxin. I named it 'Wither'." Samantha pushed up her rimless glasses, her tone as flat as if she were reading a menu. "With just a trace inhalation, the muscle fibers of those downgraded Tyrants will completely dissolve within thirty seconds, and even their bones will turn into a puddle of mush."

She picked up a red syringe. "This is the dedicated inhibitor. It can forcibly cut off their hunger nerve signals, suppress the mania, and make them obedient again. One shot lasts for forty-eight hours."

Chen Feng picked up a green canister and weighed it in his hand. "What's the cost?"

"The synthesis cost for one canister of the gas is about two hundred dollars." Samantha thought for a moment. "The inhibitor is cheaper, around fifty dollars. The main ingredients are just leftover scraps from the lab."

Chen Feng smiled.

He put the canister back into the case and looked at Sarah, who was standing nearby.

"Sarah, enter these two items into the company's special sales catalog." Chen Feng tapped his fingers on the desk. "Price the gas at one billion dollars per canister, and the inhibitor at five hundred million dollars per syringe. No bargaining."

Sarah sneered. "Boss, will the Russians buy it?"

"They'll beg us in tears to sell it to them." Chen Feng sneered. "Without the restriction of a genetic lock, the more these monsters eat, the faster they grow, and their metabolic rates will spike exponentially. Once Yuri realizes that all the raw meat in Siberia isn't enough to feed these gluttons, they will turn their gaze to living humans."

Ada Wong walked over carrying two cups of coffee and handed one to Chen Feng. "Hunk has already settled in over in Okinawa. Two hundred Gen-3 Tyrants, fifty armed helicopters, ready to take off at a moment's notice."

"Very well." Chen Feng took a sip of his coffee, casting his gaze toward Siberia's location on the holographic map. "Now, we just sit here and patiently wait for Moscow's distress call."

Meanwhile, in the washing room on the periphery of the underground laboratory.

The faucet was running noisily.

Sergei, the ace agent of the Russian Federation's Foreign Intelligence Service, was wearing a waterproof rubber suit and holding a long-handled brush, furiously scrubbing a mountain of petri dishes piled in the sink.

He had been washing dishes for a month straight.

His hands were pale and peeling from being soaked in disinfectant, dark circles hung down to his cheekbones, and he was completely emaciated.

"Victor! Don't dawdle! There are still three hundred beakers in Lab No. 2 waiting for you to wash! If you don't finish, no food for you today!" Samantha's assistant yelled from outside.

"Right away!" Sergei called back loudly.

Gritting his teeth, he slammed a petri dish covered in green slime into the sink.

"Endure it, Sergei. You're an ace agent. What is this little bit of hardship?" he comforted himself frantically in his mind. "Once Yuri's super army is built and sweeps across the globe, it will be the day you return home to be decorated! When that time comes, these capitalists who exploit you will all have to kneel and lick your boots!"

The glorious image of himself with a chest full of medals being personally received by the President surfaced in his mind. Instantly, he felt energized again, picking up the brush to continue his death match with the slime.

He had absolutely no idea that the data he had risked his life to transmit back to Moscow was not some key to world domination at all.

But rather a death warrant that would drag the entire Russian Federation into hell.
