247: Chapter 247 Electric Black Light, Old Qian Enters the Game
The bone whip lashed out at the two Yetis charging at the front.
There was no evenly matched battle as expected.
The ten-meter-long black bone whip whistled through the air, slicing through the Yetis' thick white fur like a knife through tofu.
"Squelch!"
Flesh tore. The two three-meter-tall Tyrants were cut clean in half at the waist.
Their upper bodies slammed onto the ice, thick arms still flailing unconsciously.
The Blacklight Prototype did not stop at all. The bone whip coiled and plunged directly into the remains.
At a speed visible to the naked eye, the two Yetis shriveled up, leaving not even bone fragments behind.
The Blacklight Prototype let out a satisfied burp. The black substance on its body surged. On its face, which originally lacked features, two ice-blue eyes actually appeared. Even a layer of short white fur grew on its surface.
Hunk stared at his tactical panel, his voice devoid of emotion: "It is stealing genetic material. Conventional physical attacks are ineffective; it can absorb kinetic energy."
In the War Room.
Chen Feng stared at the screen: "This thing is a walking genetic library."
Samantha's voice in the channel was practically cracking: "Don't shoot! Do not use incendiary bombs under any circumstances! Its cellular activity is a hundred times that of the G-Virus! Even if a single cell remains, it can recover! Capture it alive for me!"
"Shut up." Chen Feng cut off her microphone directly.
Under the ice lake, the slaughter continued.
Out of forty-nine Yetis, half had fallen in less than a minute.
The Blacklight Prototype's arms changed again. The bone whip retracted and transformed into a pair of massive black heavy hammers.
With one hammer strike, a Yeti's head was smashed directly into its chest cavity.
Hunk leaned against a section of the broken cabin, clutching a detonator in his hand.
"Red Queen, analyze its energy cycle," Hunk said into the microphone.
"The target has no conventional organs inside. The entire body is composed of the same type of viral cells. However, during morphological transformation, a brief energy peak occurs in the core region," Red Queen's voice replied.
"Where is the weakness?"
"High temperatures can slow its cellular proliferation but cannot kill it completely. It is recommended to use ultra-high-frequency electromagnetic Pulses to disrupt its intercellular communication."
"Received."
Hunk tossed aside his combat knife. He pulled four silver metal pillars from his tactical backpack.
These were the "little gadgets" Chen Feng had specifically instructed him to bring before they arrived.
"Third Battalion, decoy tactics," Hunk issued the command. "Lure it toward the cabin."
The remaining twenty-plus Yetis stopped their mindless charging and began to retreat in an orderly fashion.
The Blacklight Prototype clearly didn't have much intelligence. Or rather, its mind was currently filled only with "eating."
Seeing the food retreat, it immediately strode forward to pursue.
The moment the Blacklight Prototype rushed into the cabin wreckage, Hunk pressed the detonator.
The four metal pillars simultaneously ejected high-voltage electric arcs. In mid-air, they wove into a massive blue electric net.
"Crackle!"
The electric net descended over its head.
The Blacklight Prototype emitted an extremely piercing shriek.
Its prized black substance began to carbonize and peel off in large patches under the scorching electric arcs.
It attempted to turn its arms into blades to cut through the electric net. However, the communication between its cells was disrupted by the strong magnetic field. The arm had only half-transformed when it went limp and dissolved into a pool of black liquid.
"Increase power." Hunk watched the monster writhing frantically in the electric net with an expressionless face.
The metal pillars emitted an unbearable humming sound. The color of the electric arcs shifted from blue to a blinding bright white.
The Blacklight Prototype's volume shrank drastically.
From over two meters tall, it was forcefully electrocuted into a black tumor only the size of a basketball.
The surface of the tumor was still emitting black smoke, giving off a pungent, burnt stench.
"Boss, the target is contained." Hunk walked over, carrying a specially designed insulated case.
"Well done." Chen Feng laughed in the War Room. "Box it up and come home."
The scene cut back to Los Angeles.
Underground Level 7.
Samantha stared at the sluggish black tumor in the containment chamber, the fanaticism in her eyes practically overflowing.
"It's beautiful..." She pressed her entire body against the explosion-proof glass. "Boss, do you know what this thing means?"
"It means I have to sink another few tens of billions into it." Chen Feng pulled over a chair and sat down, crossing his legs.
"No! It can consume the genes of other organisms and then perfectly integrate them!" Samantha turned her head, speaking at a rapid pace. "If we combine it with the G-Virus, or implant it into a Tyrant... No, the Tyrant is too low-level! It could create a god capable of infinite evolution!"
Chen Feng tapped on the table: "I don't want a god; I want obedient weapons. This thing doesn't even have a brain; how do you control it?"
"That is exactly the problem I intend to solve." Samantha rubbed her hands together. "Give me a month... no, half a month! I need a large amount of living material!"
"There's plenty of material." Chen Feng glanced at Old Morgan's profile on the screen. "Since Old Morgan likes treasure hunting so much, I'll send him a big gift."
Ada Wong walked in and handed a document to Chen Feng.
"Boss, Old Morgan's fleet has lost contact, and he is already anxious. He is mobilizing the remaining mercenaries of the DuPont Family, preparing to head to Antarctica a second time."
New York, top floor of the JPMorgan headquarters.
Old Morgan smashed an invaluable blue-and-white porcelain teacup against the wall.
"Lost contact? What do you mean lost contact!" Old Morgan roared at the head of security. "That was the DuPont Family's most elite 'Spartan' squad! Even if they encountered a regular army, they could hold out for two hours! Now you're telling me they disappeared without even sending a full distress signal?"
The head of security wiped away cold sweat: "Sir, the magnetic field in the Antarctic is extremely chaotic, and satellites cannot capture what is happening under the ice at all. We suspect... it was done by people from Umbrella."
"Chen Feng..." Old Morgan gritted his teeth, his face full of resentment. Last time, Chen Feng had extorted most of his fortune, and he dreamed of getting even.
That coordinate in the Antarctic was something he had spent a large sum of money to dig out from a top-secret file of Nazi Germany during World War II. It was said that something capable of changing the course of human evolution was buried there.
"Organize the second batch of personnel immediately," Old Morgan ordered. "Pour all the liquid funds in the company account into this. Hire the top mercenaries from 'Blackwater' and 'Cerberus'. Bring heavy weapons. Even if it is Chen Feng, I will make him spit out what he has swallowed!"
Los Angeles.
Ada Wong reported Old Morgan's movements to Chen Feng.
"Mercenaries? Heavy weapons?" Chen Feng laughed. "The old guy is quite persistent."
"Boss, should we have Hunk take them out while he's at it?" Sarah asked.
"No need. What's the point of killing a few mercenaries?" Chen Feng tapped his fingers on the desktop. "Ada, send the news of Old Morgan going to Antarctica to hunt for treasure anonymously to Yuri in Moscow. Tell him that a biochemical weapon even more powerful than the G-Virus has been dug up there."
Ada Wong's eyes lit up: "You want Yuri to bite Old Morgan?"
"Yuri spent the entire national treasury buying Tyrants last time, and now he's worried about not having military merits to report," Chen Feng picked up his coffee and took a sip. "Russia's polar warfare capability is the best in the world. Let them go to the Antarctic and fight like dogs. We just need to sit back and collect the ticket money."
"What about those defective products we phased out?"
"Airdrop them as planned," Chen Feng said. "Give them a bit more of a gaming experience. Red Queen, turn off the friend-or-foe identification systems for all those defective 'Walkers'. As long as it's a living thing, attack everything."
"Command confirmed," Red Queen replied.
[Ding! Blacklight Virus Prototype detected as captured.]
[Hidden mission [Predator of the Frozen Abyss] completed.]
[Obtained Research Points: 200,000 points.]
[Current Total Research Points: 700,000 points.]
[[Blacklight Virus] Primary Tech Tree unlocked.]
[Obtained Special Blueprint: Blacklight Devourer (Tyrant Advanced Variant).]
Chen Feng looked at the notifications popping up in his field of vision, feeling great.
Two hundred thousand research points. And he had unlocked the blueprint for the Blacklight Tyrant.
"Samantha." Chen Feng connected to the laboratory's video feed. "Put the G-Virus aside for now. I'm sending you a new blueprint. Within half a month, I want to see a living sample of the 'Blacklight Devourer'."
Samantha stared at the blueprint Red Queen sent over, completely stunned.
"Perfect... it's simply too perfect!" Samantha hugged the tablet and began laughing like a madwoman. "Boss, you really are a genius! How did you come up with this kind of genetic sequence?"
"Don't butter me up, get to work." Chen Feng hung up the communication.
He stood up and stretched.
Sarah stood behind Chen Feng and retrieved his coat for him: "Boss, the Old Money families have been very active lately. Word also came from Clark that someone in Congress is auditing the accounts of our medical special zone."
"Auditing?" Chen Feng raised an eyebrow. "Who gave them the guts?"
"A few newly appointed senators, backed by funding from the Rockefeller family. They are stirring up public opinion in the media, claiming that our special zone is a lawless place."
Chen Feng rubbed his chin: "It seems the skin I peeled off last time wasn't enough. Sarah, go pick out a few mutants with flexible brains. Since they like auditing so much, let them audit to their heart's content."
"Understood." Sarah nodded, her eyes turning cold.
"Let's go." Chen Feng put on his coat. "Let's go see the trouble Clark has found for us. Those senators who want to audit us, it's time to send them some 'medical benefits'."
