278: Chapter 278 Don't move, these are my snacks
The transport plane pierced through the clouds at an altitude of ten thousand meters.
Inside the cabin, Ada Wong's holographic projection flickered twice, the image switching to a desolate Gobi Desert.
"Boss, 091 Base is a top-secret project of the Hua Federation." Ada was wearing a wine-red trench coat, holding a cup of coffee. "It houses a heavy synthetic battalion and has the Hongqi air defense system. The underground bunker can withstand a nuclear strike."
Chen Feng leaned back on the sofa, his fingers tapping the armrest.
"What's the situation with that sarcoma they dug up?"
"It's still sleeping. But vital sign monitoring shows that its cell division rate has quadrupled in the past three hours." Ada pulled up a thermal imaging map. "The Hua Federation's research team wants to slice it for study; they have no idea what kind of bomb they've dug up."
"Slice it?" Chen Feng sneered. "The shell in Antarctica had to be forcibly corroded with G-Virus activation enzymes, and they're using scalpels to cut a close relative of the Blacklight Progenitor? They're asking for death."
Beside him, Mia was holding a stainless steel basin larger than her face, scraping the bottom of the basin for ice cream with a spoon. Hearing the word "sarcoma," the little girl's ears perked up, she tossed the spoon aside, and leaned in toward the holographic projection.
"Boss, that looks bright red, is it strawberry-flavored?" Mia's eyes lit up, and drool dripped down her chin.
Chen Feng reached out and pushed her head away.
"You'll know when we get there. If you can't finish it, I'm docking next month's snacks."
"I guarantee I'll eat it all clean!" Mia patted her flat stomach and bounced in place twice.
The pilot's voice came from the cockpit.
"Boss, we have entered the 091 Base air defense identification zone. Radar lock warning; the other side is demanding that we identify ourselves immediately and land, otherwise they will open fire and shoot us down."
"Radio silence. Maintain course, full speed ahead." Chen Feng ordered.
Below, on the Gobi Desert.
The 091 Base air defense position alarms blared loudly.
"Warning! Unidentified flying object refusing communication! Speed is Mach 3, approaching the base's airspace!" the radar operator yelled.
In the command post, Song Yun's face turned black. Ever since she was pressed into the ground by Chen Feng's tyrannical terms in Los Angeles last time, she had taken over this project after returning to the country.
"Shoot it down! I don't care who it is, if they dare to intrude on 091, shoot them down immediately!" Song Yun slammed the table.
Four Hongqi air defense missiles dragged tail flames as they rushed up.
The transport plane's cabin door slid open.
The gale poured in, but Chen Feng didn't even lift an eyelid; he pointed downwards.
"Go knock on the door."
Mia cheered, tossed her pink down jacket, and jumped straight down from the ten-thousand-meter altitude.
In mid-air, the four missiles surrounded her in a triangular formation.
Mia did a somersault in the air, and a dozen thick, black-and-red intertwined tentacles burst out from her back.
She didn't dodge at all.
Two tentacles reached out and coiled around the two foremost missiles.
"Bang! Bang!"
The high-explosive warheads exploded into two huge fireballs in mid-air.
Borrowing the impact force of the explosion, Mia's speed soared again, and she smashed straight toward the dome of 091 Base.
The remaining two missiles hadn't even had time to turn before they were directly whipped to explosion by the tentacles behind her.
In the ground command post, Song Yun watched the missile signals disappear from the radar screen, and she was stunned.
"The missiles were... were physically intercepted? What did they use to intercept them?!"
"Report! The unidentified object has broken through the air defense network! It is falling at high speed! The target is... Underground Bunker No. 1!"
"Boom!"
The entire base shook violently, and dust fell from the ceiling.
Underground Bunker No. 1, that was the place where the prehistoric sarcoma was stored.
Inside the bunker.
Dozens of scientists in protective suits surrounded a huge transparent isolation chamber.
Inside the chamber was a dark red sarcoma with a diameter of over fifty meters. Its surface was covered with thick blood vessels, pulsing rhythmically.
"Prepare liquid nitrogen, turn the laser cutter power to maximum, and prepare to extract skin samples," the chief scientist ordered.
The robotic arm extended, and the high-energy laser beam just touched the sarcoma's skin.
"Sizzle!"
The sarcoma contracted slightly.
Immediately after, the entire sarcoma erupted with a piercing screech. The sound penetrated the soundproof glass directly, and several scientists standing nearby bled from their seven orifices on the spot, collapsing on the ground while covering their ears.
Countless cracks split open on the surface of the sarcoma, and hundreds of dark red tentacles covered in barbs stretched out, shattering the explosion-proof glass with a "pop."
The tentacles coiled around the scientists on the ground and dragged them directly into the giant mouth that had split open in the sarcoma.
"Fire! Fire!"
The security special forces team raised their rifles and fired. The bullets hit the tentacles and were directly deflected. After devouring a dozen people, the sarcoma's volume expanded by a circle, and more tentacles spread in all directions.
Just at this moment.
From the half-meter-thick titanium alloy cover above the bunker came a teeth-grinding sound of metal tearing.
"Creak!"
The top cover bulged downward into a large bump, then shattered.
Debris and metal plates smashed all over the floor.
A little girl in pink clothes fell down, landing with a "thud" amidst the mess.
Mia patted the dust off her down jacket and looked up.
Her pair of eerie green eyes stared fixedly at the dark red sarcoma expanding in front of her.
She sniffed.
"Wow! It really is strawberry-flavored!"
All the tentacles that had spread out from the sarcoma retracted, twisting together in mid-air into a meat whip as thick as a water vat, whipping toward Mia with a whistling sound.
Mia, instead, went to meet it.
Her right arm mutated, covered by a black cuticle, turning into a bone blade over five meters long.
"Swish!"
The blade light flashed past.
The giant meat whip was severed at the root, and dark red mucus sprayed all over the ground.
Mia opened her mouth, and dozens of black-red tentacles behind her pierced into the severed meat whip, quickly sucking the several-ton mass of meat into grayish-white shriveled powder.
"Too slow, too slow!"
Mia curled her lips, pushed off with her legs, and her entire body, like a cannonball, crashed headlong into the center of the sarcoma.
"Squish!"
The sarcoma let out a shrill scream, and the entire underground bunker vibrated along with it.
But the screaming sound quickly turned into the sound of a leaking balloon.
The sarcoma's volume shriveled rapidly, and "munching" sounds came from within.
When Song Yun led people into Bunker No. 1, this was the scene she saw.
The fifty-meter-high prehistoric giant sarcoma was gone.
In its place remained only a pool of grayish-white powder, and a little girl who was burping and flushed with red.
In the little girl's hand, she was still clutching a crystal the size of a basketball, emitting a faint dark red glow.
"This... what is the situation?" Song Yun held her gun, her palms full of sweat.
"Representative Song, long time no see."
A lazy voice came from the hole in the ceiling.
Chen Feng stepped on a floating metal plate and slowly descended.
Following behind him were four T-801 Tyrants, two and a half meters tall, covered in black armor.
With the Tyrants standing there, the sense of oppression was maxed out.
Song Yun saw Chen Feng's face, and her eyelids twitched.
"Chen Feng? Why are you here? This is an armed invasion of a Hua Federation military base; are you trying to start a war?"
"Don't put such a big label on me." Chen Feng walked to Mia's side, took the dark red crystal from her hand, tossed it twice, "I am saving your lives. This thing is called a Blacklight Progenitor variant. You took laser cutters to slice it; in ten minutes, there wouldn't be a single living rat left within a hundred kilometers."
Song Yun gritted her teeth and said, "That is our spoils of war, put it down!"
Chen Feng laughed.
He tilted his head.
The four armored Tyrants behind him took a step forward.
"Bang!"
The ground cracked.
The six-barreled rotary machine guns on the Tyrants' arms began to preheat, and the buzzing sound of the barrels rotating echoed in the underground bunker.
"Representative Song, are you sure you want to fight me for the spoils of war?" Chen Feng stared into Song Yun's eyes. "Are these hundreds of guns under your command enough for my four security guards to kill for a minute?"
Song Yun swallowed a mouthful of saliva, not daring to order fire.
She had seen Chen Feng's methods; this madman dared to wipe out even a US armored brigade in the Middle East. If they really opened fire, 091 Base would be wiped out today.
In his mind, the system notification sound rang out.
[Ding! Successfully recovered the prehistoric Blacklight Progenitor variant core.]
[Mission Reward: 100,000 R&D points.]
[Unlocked Technology: Blacklight Advanced Blueprint (can be used to optimize Symbiotic Armor and high-level Tyrant cultivation).]
Chen Feng threw the crystal into the cryogenic containment box.
"Are you full?" He patted Mia's head.
"Eighty percent full." Mia licked her lips.
"Alright, let's go home and have a late-night snack."
Chen Feng turned around and looked at Song Yun.
"Representative Song, sweep up the dust on the ground; consider it a lesson. Next time you dig up something you don't recognize, remember to call Umbrella first. We provide professional on-site cleanup services."
After speaking, Chen Feng took Mia and the Tyrants, activated their personal flight devices, and flew out through the big hole in the ceiling.
Leaving only Song Yun standing on the spot, looking at the grayish-white powder all over the ground, disheveled in the wind.
