292: Chapter 292 Contract of Indenture

President Clark's roaring was cut off cleanly and decisively; there was no more sound from the communicator.

Chen Feng tossed the communicator onto the table with a light click.

The entire cabin was terrifyingly quiet.

Sarah looked at him, her lips moving as if she wanted to say something, but in the end, it turned into an almost inaudible sigh. She knew that once this man made a decision, no one could persuade him otherwise.

"Are you really going to… get involved in the affairs of Africa?"

"Get involved?" Chen Feng scoffed. "No, Sarah. I never get involved. I only set the rules and then watch the show."

He turned his head and looked at Ada Wong, who was beside him.

"Connect the video call to that princess."

"Sir, the other party is using a civilian satellite link. The signal is poor, and it's unencrypted," Ada Wong reminded him.

"That's exactly why I want her to use that line." The corners of Chen Feng's mouth curled up. "I want the whole world to see that it was she who came to me, begging for help."

Ada Wong understood immediately and said no more, her fingers flying across the tactical tablet.

A few seconds later, the main screen flashed, revealing a face covered in dust and tear stains.

It was none other than the last princess of Kaldovia, Amina Saleh.

Behind her was a dilapidated underground bunker, and one could vaguely hear explosions and screams in the distance. As soon as the connection was established, a flicker of hope emerged from her despair.

"Is… is this Umbrella Corporation? I am Amina Saleh! I beg you, save my people! Those monsters…"

Before she could finish, she was interrupted by a calm voice.

"I am Chen Feng, the International Security Defense Consultant for Umbrella." Chen Feng leaned back in his seat, looking very relaxed. "Your Highness, your speech is quite touching, but my time is limited. Let's get straight to business."

Amina was stunned. She had prepared a whole sob story, hoping to move the head of this company with the suffering of her people, but the man didn't seem to be buying it at all.

"B-business?"

"Yes, business."

Chen Feng snapped his fingers, and a document instantly appeared on the screen in front of Amina. It was a contract, with the title written in over thirty languages: Agreement on the Entrusted Management of Sovereignty and Resources for the Republic of Kaldovia.

Amina's pupils contracted sharply. She quickly scanned the clauses, and the color drained from her face instantly.

"...Ninety percent of all proven and unproven mineral resources within the territory of the Republic of Kaldovia, including ownership and permanent mining rights, shall belong to Umbrella Corporation."

"...Within the territory of Kaldovia, your local laws shall have no jurisdiction over Umbrella Corporation—not over our people, our property, or our operations."

"...Cede the 370,000 square kilometers of land in southern Kaldovia, east of the 15th meridian east, to Umbrella Corporation permanently and unconditionally, to serve as our Integrated Ecological Agriculture Experimental Zone…"

Every single clause was absolutely lethal.

This wasn't an aid agreement; it was a damn treaty of national betrayal!

"No! This is impossible!" Amina trembled with rage. "This is robbery! You're taking advantage of a crisis! You're greedier than those monsters!"

"Oh?" Chen Feng raised an eyebrow, his tone very calm. "You can interpret it that way. I'll give you thirty seconds to decide whether you want to be eaten by monsters or sign it."

"You…"

"Let me remind you," Chen Feng added slowly, "the U Federation and the Russian Federation have already publicly stated that they respect your sovereignty and will absolutely not intervene militarily. As for the United Nations, their next meeting to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Kaldovia is scheduled for three weeks from now. Good luck."

Three weeks?

Amina's heart went completely cold. She couldn't hold out for three weeks—not even three days! By then, the entire country would be finished!

She looked at the man on the screen who was taking his time. His face was impossibly handsome, but the words he spoke were terrifyingly cold.

She knew she had no choice.

Outside the bunker, another burst of intense gunfire and screams erupted, sounding like a death knell.

"I… I'll sign…"

Amina closed her eyes, two lines of tears sliding down her dust-covered face. With a trembling hand, she pressed her fingerprint onto the screen.

The moment the contract was finalized, there was a soft 'ding'.

"Pleasure doing business with you, Your Highness." A smile appeared on Chen Feng's face, as if he weren't the same man who had just forced someone to sign a treaty of national betrayal.

As soon as he finished speaking, he disconnected the call.

The screen went black instantly, reflecting Amina's numb face.

"Done." Chen Feng stretched and stood up from his seat. If she had been this straightforward from the start, it would have been over sooner; no need for all that crying.

He didn't even look at Sarah; he walked straight to the silent man.

"Hunk."

"Sir." Hunk stepped out from the shadows, his voice devoid of any emotion.

"I have a new mission for you." Chen Feng's tone was relaxed. "Take those new pesticides the lab just developed and go to Africa to do some weeding."

"I want that land clean, inside and out."

"Yes, sir." Hunk bowed slightly. He didn't ask what pesticides were, nor did he ask how clean it needed to be; he simply accepted the order unconditionally.

He turned around, and his figure quickly disappeared into the darkness.

"Chen Feng," Mia finished her energy bar, curiously leaned over, and tugged on the corner of his clothes. "What does weeding mean? Is the grass there… a new variety? Is it tasty?"

Chen Feng looked down at her fair, delicate face and smiled, ruffling her hair.

"It's not tasty."

"But, the pests there are all-you-can-eat."
