167: Chapter 167 Be Mind the Impact; We Are a Legitimate Business
Chen Feng watched the blonde man on the holographic screen being dragged like a sack of flour by a B.O.W. soldier, the smile on his face deepening.
This was truly an unexpected windfall.
Blowing up an airbase would certainly make Israel feel the pain, but that was ultimately a blow on a physical level. This living U Federation senior advisor, however, was worth no less than a fighter jet.
It was like in a massive raid, after taking down the final boss, unexpectedly finding a rare item that could trigger a hidden questline.
Sarah's deep blue eyes remained fixed on the screen as she calmly analyzed the subsequent extraction routes and risk assessments, seemingly showing little emotional fluctuation over this 'loot'.
Chen Feng stood up from his chair, paced over to the omnidirectional microphone in front of the command console, and lightly pressed the talk switch.
He didn't speak to Sarah, but instead connected directly to Hunk on the front lines.
“Hunk.”
Chen Feng's voice carried a leisurely tone, as if he weren't commanding a bloody raid behind enemy lines, but rather instructing a butler to trim the hedges in his own backyard.
“Present,” came Hunk's characteristically brief response over the comms.
“That live one is a treasure; we can't let him see things he shouldn't.” Chen Feng's fingertips lightly tapped on the cold metal surface, the rhythmic tapping sound transmitting clearly through the microphone.
He paused, adding in an extremely serious tone:
“Blindfold him and gag him. Our Umbrella Corporation is a law-abiding, tax-paying enterprise in the U Federation; we must mind our public image.”
“...”
On the other end of the comms, even Hunk fell into a rare half-second of silence.
In the war room, Sarah, who had maintained absolute focus, also paused slightly with her stylus and glanced up at Chen Feng.
On a battlefield of mountains of corpses and seas of blood, with raging flames everywhere, the order given was actually... to mind the company's business image in an enemy nation?
This extreme sense of absurdity made the tense, murderous atmosphere of the war room turn somewhat bizarre.
...
K-4 Base, crash site.
Hunk's gaze beneath his mask didn't change at all; he never questioned his boss's orders, he only executed them.
“Copy that.”
He turned and pulled a piece of black cloth used for wiping firearms from the tactical backpack of a nearby B.O.W. soldier.
The blonde advisor was still writhing on the ground from the agonizing pain of his broken leg, mumbling things like 'diplomatic immunity' and 'war crimes'.
Hunk walked over, ignored his struggles entirely, and roughly bound the black cloth—smelling of machine oil—tightly over his eyes, wrapping it several times and tying a dead knot.
The advisor's world instantly went pitch black, and panic made him scream even louder.
Hunk then grabbed a roll of duct tape, briskly tore off a long strip, and sealed his mouth shut.
The world was finally quiet.
Only desperate muffled sounds remained.
Hunk glanced at the man's leg, which was twisted at an unnatural angle, and tilted his head toward a nearby 'soldier'.
The tall B.O.W. soldier understood immediately. He took a syringe from his medical kit, drew a vial of pale blue Regenerator, mixed in some white healing factor, and plunged it straight into the advisor's thigh muscle.
The entire process lacked even a shred of gentleness; it was like vaccinating livestock.
This was to ensure the 'high-value target' could be transported alive, not out of any form of humanitarianism.
Having finished this, Hunk pressed his communicator again.
“Ready.”
In the war room, Sarah refocused her gaze on the holographic map, where the three points marked in red were flashing with a dangerous light.
She raised her hand and lightly tapped a virtual button.
“Detonate.”
...
Hunk pressed the detonator in his hand almost at the same time.
The next second, three dull roars that seemed ready to tear the earth apart echoed simultaneously from three different directions of the base!
Following that, three mushroom clouds, several times larger than those seen at the 7th Armored Brigade headquarters, rose into the sky with an aura of total destruction!
The high-energy plastic explosives detonated the entire base's ammunition depot and several giant fuel reserves, creating a chain reaction of explosions that amplified the power dozens of times over!
Terrifying firelight instantly illuminated the night sky, turning everything within a radius of dozens of kilometers as bright as day. A violent shockwave swept out, shredding all remaining buildings, aircraft wreckage, and wandering zombies within the base!
The earth trembled and groaned violently.
The K-4 Airbase—a military fortress housing over three thousand SDF soldiers, dozens of advanced fighters, and a complete defense system—along with the zombie purgatory that had played out inside for less than an hour, was completely erased from the map by Umbrella Corporation in the most direct and violent way possible.
In a physical sense.
The firelight from the explosion reflected off Hunk's goggles, yet he didn't even blink.
At the crash site, he issued a final command via internal comms to the remaining 'Soldiers' scattered around the edges of the base ruins.
“Clean up the site.”
Those heartless, breathless B.O.W. soldiers immediately sprang into action.
They gathered the corpses of all 'comrades' lost in battle—all biological weapons belonging to Umbrella—and threw them, along with the pneumatic rifles and special needle casings they used, into the massive fire pits formed by the explosions.
The flames would incinerate everything, leaving no trace of Umbrella technology behind.
After handling all this, the thirty-plus B.O.W. soldiers began to converge on Hunk's position.
However, they were no longer on foot.
The roar of engines approached from the distance as several undamaged SDF merkava main battle tanks, along with several humvee armored vehicles and namer armored vehicles, drove in a line from the edge of the sea of fire.
This was also Hunk's order.
Take all armored vehicles and supplies that can be taken; destroy what cannot be taken on the spot.
Pluck every feather from the passing goose; leave not a blade of grass standing.
Looking at this iron force driven by bio-Soldiers, Hunk nodded with satisfaction.
He tossed the U Federation advisor, who was tied up like a festive dumpling, into the backseat of an armored vehicle, then picked up the radio and tuned it to the channel previously used to contact the Mahas Resistance Organization.
“Beep—”
“It's me.”
On the other end of the radio, Ethan's voice immediately rang out, filled with uncontrollable excitement and awe: “We... we heard it! My god, what on earth did you do?!”
Hunk had no interest in explaining and cut him off directly.
“We need coordinates for your headquarters.”
Ethan froze for a moment before reacting.
Hunk continued in a tone that brooked no argument: “There are some things that need to be delivered to your leader in person.”
