102: Muntjac and Stupid Chicken
The scorching sun hung high, baking this mysterious wilderness.
An Lan stood in front of the Shelter. As a breeze brushed past, she looked at the clean deer hide swaying gently in the wind and couldn't help but curl her lips into a smile: "Hmm, really not bad."
In the blink of an eye, it was noon, and simple food was placed on the rudimentary "dining table."
Lu Fan keenly noticed that An Lan had a poor appetite; she was merely moving food into her mouth mechanically, eating only half of her usual amount.
Lu Fan's eyes were full of concern as he asked softly, "An Lan, are you feeling unwell? You've barely eaten a few bites."
An Lan forced a smile and explained, "I'm fine, it's just that the weather is too hot, and I don't have much of an appetite."
Lu Fan frowned slightly; it seemed he needed to improve their meals.
After the meal, Lu Fan took Da Hei and set off on an exploration journey with high spirits.
Along the way, Lu Fan kept a vigilant eye on his surroundings while chatting with Da Hei: "Da Hei, we have to find more good things to take back today. You have to help me keep a lookout; if you find anything tasty, don't forget to remind me."
Da Hei seemed to understand him perfectly, wagging its tail excitedly and running happily ahead, occasionally looking back at Lu Fan as if responding to his request.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, Lu Fan's eyes suddenly lit up. Not far ahead, several green apple trees came into view, their branches laden with fruit.
"Haha, I've got a way now!" Lu Fan shouted excitedly and dashed toward the apple trees.
He impatiently reached out to pick an apple and stuffed it directly into his mouth. With a "crunch," the tart and astringent flavor instantly spread through his mouth, stimulating his taste buds.
"This taste is simply so appetizing! An Lan will definitely like it."
While talking to himself, Lu Fan quickly picked the apples. Before long, the basket he carried was filled to the brim.
As they continued forward, Da Hei suddenly stopped, its nose sniffing the ground incessantly and its ears standing straight up. Its entire coat trembled slightly with excitement.
[Muntjac discovered ahead]
Lu Fan immediately understood. He approached Da Hei stealthily and looked in the direction of Da Hei's gaze. He saw a Muntjac grazing leisurely not far away, completely unaware of the impending danger.
Lu Fan felt a surge of joy. He gently set down the basket of apples, moving with extreme caution for fear of making even the slightest sound that might startle the prey.
Next, he took the Bow and Arrow from his back and slowly drew the string to its limit. His eyes were fixed on the Muntjac, and he didn't even dare to breathe, every nerve in his body taut.
Just as he was about to release the arrow, the Muntjac seemed to sense danger. Its ears twitched, and it raised its head alertly, scanning the surroundings.
Seeing this, Lu Fan immediately held his breath, his body as still as a statue. Even the sound of his heartbeat seemed magnified several times.
After a moment, seeing nothing unusual, the Muntjac lowered its head to continue grazing.
Lu Fan seized this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and released his fingers. The arrow flew out like a bolt from a bow, hitting the Muntjac's vital spot with a "swish."
The Muntjac struggled for a few moments before collapsing to the ground.
"Great!" Lu Fan waved his fist excitedly and ran over to look at his prey, his heart filled with a sense of accomplishment.

Just as Lu Fan was about to shoulder the Muntjac, a "cluck-cluck" sound reached his ears.
He looked toward the sound and found a Wild Chicken in the bushes not far away.
The Wild Chicken had colorful feathers that shimmered with a charming light under the sun; it was very beautiful.
"I didn't expect to actually find a fellow that isn't afraid of death." Lu Fan's lips curled up slightly, revealing a sly smile.
He set the Muntjac aside first and then crept toward the Wild Chicken, every step careful as if he were a lurking Cheetah.
The Wild Chicken was very alert. With every step Lu Fan took, it seemed to sense something, its head turning constantly.
Suddenly, the Wild Chicken turned its head and stared straight at Lu Fan.
Lu Fan stopped immediately and said softly, "Don't be afraid, I've come to be your friend."
Miraculously, sensing the inexplicable affinity emanating from Lu Fan, the Wild Chicken actually began to relax its guard and slowly approached him.
When he was close enough to the Wild Chicken, Lu Fan suddenly lunged forward, his hands grabbing like lightning and snatching the chicken by its neck.
The Wild Chicken struggled desperately in his hands, flapping its wings and letting out sharp cries, but it still couldn't escape Lu Fan's grasp.
"Haha, you stupid chicken, just obediently become Master Lu's appetizer." Lu Fan laughed triumphantly.

Lu Fan laughed happily, packed up both the Wild Chicken and the Muntjac, and along with the apples, returned fully loaded with Da Hei.
The livestream room instantly became lively.
"Haha, a classic reappears."
"No chicken can escape Great God Lu Fan's clutches."
"I don't even dare to eat this chicken, for fear of becoming stupid."
"To the person above, your stupidity has nothing to do with the chicken."
Returning to the Shelter, An Lan's eyes lit up when she saw Lu Fan returning with such a harvest. She said in surprise, "Wow, did you go to a slaughterhouse? How did you bring back so many good things!"
Lu Fan proudly placed the apples, Wild Chicken, and Muntjac on the ground, patted the dust off his clothes, and said with a smile, "You bet, I put quite a lot of effort into this!"
As he spoke, he began to process the prey.
He first carried the Muntjac to the side and skillfully skinned and butchered it, his movements fluid as if he were an experienced chef.
During the process, he didn't forget to share the thrilling moments of the hunt with An Lan, vividly describing how the Muntjac almost escaped and how he held his breath waiting for the perfect moment.
An Lan listened intently, sometimes covering her mouth in tension and sometimes laughing heartily at Lu Fan's humor, her laughter echoing in the Shelter.
After processing the Muntjac, Lu Fan began to clean the Wild Chicken.
The Wild Chicken was still flapping occasionally, as if unwilling to become a meal just like that.
While pinning it down, Lu Fan said with a smile, "You little fellow, you were so alert earlier, how did you still end up caught by me? Just accept your fate now!"
Meanwhile, An Lan was washing the apples with water nearby.
Looking at the green and crisp apples, she couldn't help but take a bite. The tart flavor instantly made her taste buds come alive.
"Mmm, these apples are really good. They're nice and tart, perfect for this hot weather," An Lan praised repeatedly.
After finishing with the prey, Lu Fan began to take inventory of their food reserves.
He looked at the neatly arranged half-carcasses of wild boar meat, mutton, rabbit meat, the deer meat from yesterday, and some seafood stored earlier, his heart full of accomplishment.
"Our food reserves are almost catching up to a small supermarket!" Lu Fan joked with a smile.
An Lan walked over, looked at the dazzling array of food, and said with a smile, "Yeah, but with so much food, we have to preserve it properly, otherwise it would be a pity if it spoiled."
Lu Fan nodded and said confidently, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. By the way, I'll make you a few appetizing dishes tonight to guarantee you'll have a great appetite!"
So, Lu Fan began to get busy in the kitchen.
He decided to make a portion of Chili Oil first; this was one of his specialties.
He ground up the chili peppers collected from the wild and added some scallion segments and minced ginger.
Then he poured in hot oil. Instantly, a rich and spicy aroma filled the entire Shelter.
"Wow, it smells so good!" An Lan couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.
Lu Fan replied with a smile, "Just kidding, as a kid from the Yunnan-Guizhou-Sichuan region, how could I eat without a bit of spice?"
