111: Big Black Fighting Cheetah
As time quietly passed, more and more South Korean viewers felt a sense of heartfelt envy growing in their hearts.
Fueled by the internet, this sentiment gradually fermented, and some people even let their imaginations run wild, posting utterly absurd remarks online.
“Don't you think some of Lu Fan's living habits are extremely similar to ours in South Korea? Maybe he's actually South Korean and was just adopted by China.”
“Contestant Lu Fan's amazing inventions and his exceptional ability to deal with disasters are all the results of our powerful South Korean genes at work.”
“That's right, Contestant Lu Fan looks like he was cast from the same mold as us South Koreans; he has one nose and two eyes, he's practically identical.”
This remark was like a heavy bomb dropped into a calm lake, instantly stirring up stormy waves on the internet.
When the Chinese viewers saw such preposterous comments, they were instantly fuming with rage.
“What kind of bullshit is this? Lu Fan is clearly a genuine Chinese person. How did he become yours?”
“Have they lost their minds from the heat? They've started talking nonsense, trying to claim everything for themselves.”
“Before, they were attacking their own people, and now they're trying to steal our contestant. This is beyond ridiculous.”
Chinese viewers launched a counterattack in the comments section, with sharp, knife-like comments hitting those absurd remarks like a barrage of bullets.
The next morning, Lu Fan was 'dragged' awake early by the sweltering heat.
This hellish weather—the sun hadn't even fully risen, yet the air was already filled with a suffocating heat, as if even breathing carried a scorching temperature.
Lu Fan opened his eyes groggily, yawning and stretching as he walked outside.
He looked around and saw that the animals were all awake, leisurely drinking water nearby.
However, Da Hei was nowhere to be seen in the doghouse.
“Da Hei?”
Lu Fan shouted at the top of his lungs, his voice echoing through the silent camp, but the only response was a deathly silence.
He woke up a bit more, his eyes full of confusion as he began to look around, wondering to himself: Where on earth did Da Hei go?
Lu Fan stood up, stretched his stiff muscles, and scanned the surroundings with a vigilant gaze.
He saw a string of familiar large paw prints on the ground outside the tent, extending all the way toward the Reservoir.
“That fellow must have gone to get a drink.” Lu Fan muttered under his breath as he quickly put on his shoes.
“I might as well go get some water too.”
Yawning, Lu Fan picked up a Bamboo Tube.
[Da Hei is fighting a Cheetah]
Lu Fan snapped awake instantly, a flash of astonishment in his eyes.
He hurriedly grabbed his weapon and called out to the newly awakened An Lan: “An Lan, I'm going out to check on something. Stay in the Shelter and don't go out for any reason!”
An Lan, who had just stepped out of the room, looked bewildered. Before she could ask what was happening, she only saw Lu Fan's back as he charged out like an arrow from a bow.
He chased desperately along the direction of the paw prints. Before he had run far, he heard the sound of a fierce fight and low growls.
Lu Fan's heart skipped a beat, hanging in his throat as his pace involuntarily quickened.
When he reached the edge of the Reservoir, the scene before him made him gasp.
Da Hei was in a fierce confrontation with a Cheetah. Both sides were injured, and the scene was brutal.
The Cheetah's once beautiful fur was marked with several deep claw slashes, and blood seeped out, staining its spots red.
Da Hei's condition was also not optimistic. His ear was bitten through, he had several scratches on his body, and his fur was messy and disheveled.
It turned out that Da Hei had run to the Reservoir to drink water as usual. After just a few laps, he saw this Cheetah coming for a drink too.
This Reservoir was the lifeblood of the animals at the Shelter. in this arid environment that was almost a dead end, a water source was the fundamental guarantee of survival.
The Cheetah's behavior was undoubtedly a violation of the 'rules of the wild.'
To fight for the water source, the two animals had started brawling without a word.
Seeing this perilous scene, Lu Fan was anxious, his heart feeling as if it would jump out of his throat.
He quickly drew his Bow and Arrow, the arrowhead aimed tightly at the Cheetah.
However, the Cheetah and Da Hei were locked in an inseparable struggle. He was afraid to act, fearing he might accidentally injure Da Hei.
Lu Fan gripped his weapon and cautiously approached the fighting pair, shouting loudly as he moved: “Da Hei, I'm here!”
Hearing Lu Fan's voice, Da Hei's spirits surged. Taking advantage of the moment the Cheetah was distracted, he lunged forward like an arrow and bit down hard on the Cheetah's hind leg.
The Cheetah let out a sharp, angry roar of pain and struggled desperately, its sharp claws scratching wildly at Da Hei.
Lu Fan ran closer. Seeing that both Da Hei and the Cheetah had lost themselves to bloodlust, he knew he couldn't just rush in blindly.
He suddenly remembered that he possessed Animal Affinity. Maybe he could calm this Cheetah down.
So, he slowly relaxed the bowstring and approached the Cheetah step by step, making soft sounds in an attempt to soothe it.
“Hey, little guy, don't get excited, calm down...” Lu Fan said softly, forcing a gentle smile onto his face.
He stared intently into the Cheetah's eyes, trying his best to release all of his goodwill.
However, this Cheetah had already seen red and completely ignored Lu Fan's attempts to soothe it.
It turned its head and glared fiercely at Lu Fan, letting out a low growl. Its eyes seemed to say: “Don't come any closer, or I'll finish you off too!”
Lu Fan stopped in his tracks, helpless. He knew that it was impossible to rely on Animal Affinity to calm the Cheetah down now.
It seemed he would have to find another way.
He drew his bow to full tension, his eyes fixed on the Cheetah as he looked for the best opportunity. His brain worked rapidly, calculating a strategy.
This Cheetah was lithe and agile, and its combat power was not to be underestimated.
And while Da Hei was brave, there was still a gap between him and a Cheetah. If the fight continued for long, he would surely suffer.
“I have to find a way to save Da Hei without hurting this Cheetah,” Lu Fan thought anxiously.
Suddenly, he had an idea.
He crouched low and carefully circled behind the Cheetah, finding a hidden spot to hide.
Then, he picked up a stone and threw it with all his might toward the Cheetah's side.
With a 'crack,' the stone hit another rock nearby and shattered, making a crisp sound.
Hearing the sound, the Cheetah thought an enemy was attacking from the side and immediately leaped to turn around like a spring.
The moment it leaped, Lu Fan saw his chance. He charged out from his hiding place like a tiger coming down a mountain, and quickly fired an arrow from his bow.
With a 'whoosh,' the arrow flew out with terrifying force.
But as a top predator, the Cheetah's speed and reactions were top-tier.
At the critical moment, the Cheetah actually twisted its body mid-air.
The arrow that should have hit its head only struck its ear, piercing right through it.
Blood dripped from its head onto the ground. The Cheetah, in pain, landed heavily on the ground.
The Cheetah steadied itself and turned its head angrily, lunging fiercely at Lu Fan and Da Hei once again.
In the blink of an eye, the Cheetah was already in front of him. Lu Fan could even clearly smell the nauseating stench from its mouth.
[Lie Down]
The moment Lu Fan heard the prompt, he lay back without hesitation. The Cheetah flew over his head with a gust of strong wind.
Due to its momentum, the Cheetah charged quite a distance forward.
But relying on its powerful physical attributes, it instantly turned its body, forming a standoff with Lu Fan and Da Hei once more.
Both sides fell into a stalemate. The air was thick with a suffocating tension, and the hot wind seemed too frightened to move in this volatile atmosphere.
