107: Install fan

Lightning was quite impatient. Seeing Big Horn and Baa Baa drinking so leisurely, it grew a bit restless, pawing the ground with its front hooves and letting out a series of whinnies.

The moment Big Horn finished, Lightning squeezed in eagerly, plunging its head into the water basin with a series of loud gulps.

Water splashed everywhere, drenching both itself and Big Black standing nearby.

Big Black shook its body in disgust, flicking the water droplets off its head and glaring at Lightning with dissatisfaction. However, Lightning acted as if nothing had happened, focusing entirely on drinking its water.

"You impatient thing, aren't you afraid of choking?" Lu Fan laughed helplessly, gently patting Lightning's neck.

After finishing the water, Lightning let out a loud snort and affectionately rubbed its head against Lu Fan's shoulder, its wet mane soaking a large patch of his clothes.

Seeing them satisfied after drinking their fill, Lu Fan felt a warmth in his heart.

On this deserted island, these animals had long since become family and partners to him and An Lan, providing mutual companionship and reliance.

After watering the animals, Lu Fan finally felt his stomach growling. A glance at the time showed it was already lunch hour.

He decided to show off his skills and make his specialty: roasted rabbit meat.

He had carefully preserved the Wild Rabbit left over from a previous hunt, waiting for today to treat himself and An Lan.

Lu Fan skillfully prepared the rabbit, built a campfire, and skewered the meat onto smooth branches to begin roasting.

Under the licking flames, the rabbit meat gradually turned golden. Juices sizzled as they dripped into the fire, sending up sparks and instantly filling the air with a rich aroma.

"It smells so good! What is that wonderful scent?"

Attracted by the fragrance, An Lan walked out of the house and took a deep breath, her face full of anticipation.

"Haha, just you wait. Today, I'll let you taste my craftsmanship."

Lu Fan raised his eyebrows proudly, constantly turning the rabbit meat while occasionally sprinkling on some natural spices he had collected earlier.

The roasted rabbit was enticingly colored, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Lu Fan then took out some previously gathered honey and mixed it with sliced green apples; the honey-glazed green apples were complete.

The two sat in the Shelter, with the fragrant roasted rabbit and sweet honey-glazed green apples set before them.

"Here, try some."

Lu Fan handed the roasted rabbit to An Lan. She took a bite, and her eyes instantly lit up: "Wow, this is delicious! I didn't expect to have such a wonderful lunch on this deserted island."

"Of course. My culinary skills are second to none on this island."

As Lu Fan ate, he joked, "When we get back, I could open a barbecue shop called 'Desert Island Delicacies'."

In the livestream room.

"I'm starving just watching this."

"Suddenly, the instant noodles in my hand don't taste so good anymore."

"Haha, when I eat instant noodles, I have to add sausage and an egg."

"Damn, with current prices, adding sausage AND an egg? The guy above must be a rich second-generation heir."

"It's just sausage and an egg, you're acting like it's impossible."

"To the guy above, you should go piss on the ground and look at your reflection to clear your confusion."

After lunch and a short rest, Lu Fan remembered the Taro patch he had cleared on the island.

In this scorching weather, the Taro seedlings definitely needed water.

He picked up a ceramic basin and headed toward the Taro patch.

An Lan wanted to go too, but Lu Fan gently pushed her back down to her seat. "Just stay in the Shelter, boil some water, and help me make a cup of herbal tea."

"Alright." An Lan nodded helplessly, though she was quite happy to be cared for.

Arriving at the field, Lu Fan lifted the bamboo basket. Seeing the somewhat withered Taro seedlings, he said distressedly, "Oh, my goodness. Hang in there, little ones. Grandpa is here to give you some water."

He bent over, watering the Taro seedlings bucket by bucket while muttering, "Drink up, grow quickly, and then let us taste your deliciousness."

After watering each row, he would straighten up and wipe the sweat from his forehead. Seeing the Taro seedlings gradually regain their vitality after being moistened, a gratified smile appeared on his face.

After working for over half an hour, he finally finished watering the entire Taro patch.

This weather was truly unbearable for a human.

Lu Fan dragged his exhausted but accomplished body back to the Shelter.

Seeing him return, An Lan quickly handed him a cup of water and said with concern, "Good work. Hurry, drink some water and rest."

Lu Fan took the water, downed it in one go, and let out a long sigh. "It's not hard. Seeing the Taro seedlings get their fill of water puts my mind at ease."

After drinking, Lu Fan slumped into a chair. Although a sea breeze was blowing, the heat on his body still hadn't fully dissipated.

"This won't do. If it stays this hot, people will turn into dried meat," Lu Fan muttered to himself, frowning.

He looked out the window at the whistling sea breeze. Due to the terrifyingly high temperatures, even the breeze was hot.

Suddenly, he had a flash of inspiration.

"I've got it!"

Lu Fan slapped his thigh excitedly and jumped up from his chair.

"Our Shelter is right by the sea and the wind is so strong, why don't I make a wind-powered fan?"

Thinking of this, he immediately got up and began rummaging for the materials needed to make a fan.

Fortunately, there was some bamboo left from what he had cut before; otherwise, going out to cut bamboo in this weather would be too much even for Lu Fan's body.

He placed the bamboo on the ground, picked up his axe, and began a busy "clink-clank" of work.

He first selected several thick and straight pieces of bamboo, splitting them into uniform strips.

In his hands, these bamboo strips seemed to come alive as he skillfully shaved off the burrs and polished them until they were incredibly smooth.

Next, he cut the bamboo strips to the appropriate length, preparing to use them as the fan blades.

"An Lan, come here and help me take a look. How is the shape of these fan blades?"

Lu Fan called out to An Lan while fiddling with the bamboo strips in his hand.

An Lan put down the herbs she was organizing and walked over.

"Hmm... I think it would be better with a slight adjustment."

An Lan pointed at the bamboo strip and said, "Look, if you shave this part a bit narrower, the blades might rotate with less effort, and the wind power will be greater."

Hearing this, Lu Fan found it very reasonable and immediately began modifying them according to An Lan's suggestion.

After some meticulous carving, four perfectly shaped fan blades were finally born.

These blades looked like four sharp swords, emitting a faint scent of bamboo.

Next was making the device to connect the fan blades to the windmill.

Lu Fan found some straw rope to secure the blades to transmit the wind power.

He then used bamboo to craft an exquisite gear. This gear was the key component of the entire fan, as it could convert the rotation of the windmill into the rotation of the fan blades.

With everything ready, Lu Fan took his tools and materials to the roof.

He intended to install a large windmill on the roof to serve as the power source for the fan.

Lu Fan carefully climbed onto the roof of An Lan's room, gripping a beam tightly with one hand while starting to install the windmill with the other.

Fortunately, he had built a matchbox-style house, so he didn't have to climb too high.
