104: Add ice to protect the seedlings

The livestream room was instantly flooded with barrage comments.

"Wow, An Lan is so amazing, she finally hit it!"

"This must be the legendary 'one arrow through the heart'; the Scarecrow looks quite hurt."

"It seems hard work pays off. Keep it up, An Lan, aim for a hundred percent accuracy."

Lu Fan was also happy for An Lan: "Not bad, your progress is rapid. However, this is just the beginning; you still need to practice shooting at different distances and moving targets."

Thus, in the following time, An Lan continuously practiced Archery under Lu Fan's guidance.

As time passed, her Archery became more proficient, and the number of times she hit the Scarecrow increased.

Although there were still occasional funny mistakes, like the arrow hitting a nearby tree or sticking directly into the ground, her progress was obvious to everyone.

The sky gradually darkened, and moonlight spilled onto the clearing, adding a touch of romance to the Archery practice.

An Lan and Lu Fan finally finished today's practice, and both returned to the Shelter with a great sense of accomplishment.

"Today was so wonderful. Not only did I have a delicious dinner, but I also learned Archery," An Lan said while tidying her hair.

Lu Fan smiled and said, "Yeah, and since you're improving so fast, maybe one day in the wilderness, you'll be able to hunt with a bow just like me."

"Haha, with you around, will we ever lack prey?"

An Lan said with a smile, "I'm learning Archery just so I can help you when things get dangerous."

The two talked as they returned to their respective beds.

Today's experiences left them feeling exhausted, but at the same time, full of satisfaction.

In the livestream room, viewers were still heatedly discussing today's Archery practice.

"I was really amused by An Lan and Lu Fan today; this wilderness life is just too interesting."

"Watching An Lan go from an Archery novice to an expert who can hit the target really gives a sense of accomplishment."

"I'm looking forward to whatever new adventures they have tomorrow; I can't wait."

As the last barrage comment was sent, the livestream room gradually quieted down.

Meanwhile, An Lan and Lu Fan fell into a sweet slumber in the tranquil wilderness, waiting for the challenges and surprises of a new day.

In the early morning, the first rays of sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, spilling into the Shelter like interwoven golden threads.

Lu Fan and An Lan were still deep in sleep when they were woken by a chorus of chirping birds.

An Lan opened her eyes drowzily and muttered, "These birds are way too dedicated, holding a concert so early in the morning."

Lu Fan rolled over and said with a smile, "Alright, nature's alarm clock has gone off. A new day begins."

The two got up leisurely, and after a simple wash, they began preparing breakfast.

The leftover White Cut Chicken and Shredded Kelp with Chili Oil from last night became the main course, and with some wild fruit, a simple and delicious breakfast was settled.

Just after eating, Lu Fan frowned, looked up at the sky, and said, "According to the announcement, the high temperatures start tomorrow."

An Lan followed his gaze and saw that the sky was excessively blue, without a single cloud.

The sun hung brightly in the sky, as if it were already gathering its strength.

"Then let's act quickly; we can't let this heat catch us off guard."

Lu Fan smiled and said, "Don't worry, with so much saltpeter, it's enough to make plenty of ice."

Saying that, he brought over the saltpeter collected yesterday and began to work.

An Lan watched curiously from the side, occasionally leaning in to ask, "I know about making ice with saltpeter, but I've never seen it with my own eyes."

While busy, Lu Fan patiently explained, "When saltpeter dissolves in water, it absorbs a large amount of heat, allowing the water to cool down and freeze quickly. Though the principle is simple, it's incredibly useful here in the wilderness."

Before long, the first block of ice was created.

An Lan excitedly picked up the ice cube, and the icy sensation made her shiver uncontrollably. "Wow, it's magical! This feels like finding an oasis in the desert."

The livestream room also became lively.

"A master is truly a master; he can make anything interesting in this wilderness."

"With this Saltpeter Ice-making, it feels like they could open a stall and sell cold drinks."

"An Lan and Lu Fan's survival skills are simply invincible; they can solve any problem."

"With so much ice, they won't have to fear even when the high temperatures arrive."

"The contestants from other countries are panicking like crazy, while our contestants are as steady as a rock."

After watching Lu Fan's operation, An Lan also wanted to try it herself: "Lu Fan, let me try."

Lu Fan smiled and moved aside. "Go ahead, I'll watch you do it."

As the saltpeter was added, the water in the iron pot froze rapidly, gradually turning into a block of ice.

With the successful experience, An Lan was full of energy and made many more ice blocks, carefully placing them in the Storage Room specifically for meat.

Looking at the Storage Room full of ice, Lu Fan nodded with satisfaction. "Now the food can be preserved for a few more days, so we won't have to worry about having nothing to eat during the heatwave."

Having solved the food storage issue, the two turned their attention to the Chili Pepper Seedlings and Taro Seedlings in the ground.

These seedlings were their hope for the future and absolutely could not be allowed to wither in the high heat.

Lu Fan found some bamboo and prepared to weave a large Bamboo Basket.

His fingers moved nimbly through the bamboo, and before long, an exquisite Bamboo Basket began to take shape.

An Lan helped by handing him bamboo, occasionally teasing, "Lu Fan, your hands are even more dexterous than mine. Weave a Bamboo Basket for me to carry wild fruit later, okay?"

Lu Fan smiled and replied, "No problem. Once we're done with this, I'll weave a super big one for you, it'll hold as many wild fruits as you want."

Once the Bamboo Basket was woven, the two carefully moved it next to the chili pepper and Taro Seedlings.

They crouched down, as gentle as if they were handling infants in swaddling clothes, and slowly covered the seedlings with the Bamboo Basket.

The shadow of the Bamboo Basket steadily covered the bright green sprouts, providing them with a patch of shade.

"The basket has to be placed just right; if it's even slightly tilted, I'm afraid it won't block the sun," Lu Fan muttered while adjusting the angle.

An Lan also observed carefully, then suddenly slapped her forehead. "Oh, I almost forgot about the leaves!"

With that, she ran to the nearby woods and soon returned with a large stack of leaves.

The two began placing leaves on the Bamboo Basket one by one, as if meticulously decorating a giant green cake.

An Lan picked up a wide leaf and said playfully, "This leaf is so big, it will definitely block a lot of sunlight for the seedlings, like giving them a big straw hat."

Lu Fan smiled and added, "Once they get through this, they should start growing."

The livestream room became lively again.

"A master is truly a master; he can make anything interesting in this wilderness."

"This act of covering the seedlings with a 'blanket' is so cute; it feels like they're treating the seedlings like treasures."

"An Lan and Lu Fan's survival skills are simply invincible; they can solve any problem."
