196: Chapter 195 The Hypothermic Little Monkey
Lu Fan and An Lan sat comfortably by the fire, holding steaming teacups in their hands, leisurely enjoying this rare moment of warmth.
The aroma of tea curled up, lingering at the tips of their noses and dispelling the slight chill brought by the severe cold outside, immersing their bodies and minds in this peaceful and beautiful atmosphere.
Suddenly, an urgent "squeak" came from outside, breaking the silence of the room.
Following that, the Monkey King led the entire Monkey troop as they rushed into the campsite.
The Monkey King's face was full of anxiety, and his movements were exaggerated as he gestured wildly in the air, his cries urgent and panicked, as if he were desperately shouting: "Help! Something big has happened!"
An Lan's gaze was instantly drawn to a Mother Monkey in the Monkey troop.
That Mother Monkey held a Little Monkey tightly in her arms; the Little Monkey's condition was very poor.
Its whole body was trembling violently and uncontrollably, its fur soaked by snowmelt and clinging to its body in clumps, its eyes half-closed, so weak that it could lose its signs of life at any moment.
The Monkey King was so anxious he kept stomping his feet, his claws pointing at the Little Monkey again and again, his eyes full of pleading, as if he were bitterly begging: "Please save it! It's almost gone!"
Seeing this, An Lan immediately stepped forward to check the situation.
She carefully observed the Little Monkey's condition and gently touched its cold body, then immediately determined the situation: "It should be hypothermia."
Hearing this, Lu Fan immediately put down the steaming teacup in his hand and quickly took the Little Monkey.
His movements were gentle and cautious, for fear of hurting this fragile little life, and then he gently held it by the fire.
An Lan turned and walked quickly to the side, swiftly bringing a dry tissue to gently wipe the moisture off the Little Monkey's body bit by bit.
Then, Lu Fan poured a small cup of hot honey water; he crouched down slightly and brought the small cup close to the Little Monkey's mouth, his movements extremely careful for fear of scalding it.
The Little Monkey was a bit resistant at first, its small head twisting left and right, and its small claws waving randomly in the air.
But soon, it was attracted by the sweet aroma of the honey water, slowly opened its small mouth, and began to drink.
As time passed minute by minute, the Little Monkey's body gradually warmed up, and its originally violent trembling slowly stopped.
It slowly opened its eyes, and its originally dull eyes regained their luster as it curiously looked around at the strange yet warm environment.
It even stretched out its tiny claws, trying to grab Lu Fan's finger tremulously; it looked incredibly cute.
Seeing this scene, the Monkey troop immediately cheered and jumped for joy.
They screamed excitedly, some jumping up and down on the ground, others darting back and forth among the branches, celebrating the Little Monkey being out of danger in their own unique way.
The Monkey King was even more excited and lost in his joy, jumping up and down so much that he almost knocked the roof off.
An Lan looked at the lively scene and breathed a sigh of relief, a gratified smile appearing on her face as she said to Lu Fan with a smile, "It seems they trust us quite a bit; they came to us the moment something went wrong!"
Lu Fan also smiled, his eyes full of tenderness and emotion: "They are smarter than I imagined, and they understand trust better too."
The Monkey King seemed to understand their banter and actually made a mock bow like a naughty child; his comical movements made Lu Fan and An Lan burst into laughter.
However, jokes aside, Lu Fan and An Lan both knew that in such extreme cold weather, every life faced a severe ordeal, and wild animals even more so.
Lu Fan and An Lan sat side by side by the fire, the warm flames licking the dry wood with a crackling sound.
Looking at the lively scene of the Monkey troop before them, their hearts also felt a sense of ease and joy, as if all fatigue and worries had been dispelled by this warm atmosphere.
Suddenly, Lu Fan seemed to be struck by a flash of inspiration, his eyes instantly lighting up as he excitedly patted An Lan's shoulder.
Smiling, he suggested, "Hey, what do you say we go soak in a hot spring? In this freezing weather, a hot spring would not only warm us up but also let us relax properly. How pleasant would that be!"
Hearing this, An Lan's eyes instantly lit up, and she nodded repeatedly in agreement: "That's a fantastic idea! A hot spring can drive away the chill and relieve fatigue; it has so many benefits for the body.
However, we have to be careful not to soak for too long, otherwise, if our body temperature gets too high, it will cause problems instead."
Lu Fan nodded vigorously, then turned to the Monkey King, waving and calling out warmly, "Hey, Monkey King, we're going to a hot spring. Do you guys want to come along and join the fun?"
The Monkey King tilted his head, his face full of confusion, obviously having no concept of the unfamiliar term "hot spring."
But seeing Lu Fan and An Lan's expectant faces, a sense of excitement welled up in his heart for some reason.
He immediately jumped up excitedly, "squeaking" incessantly and waving his arms to signal the Monkey troop to follow.
In his heart, as long as it was something Lu Fan and An Lan suggested, it definitely couldn't be wrong and was bound to be an interesting and fun place!
With a smile on his face, Lu Fan gently picked up the bear skin to the side and carefully draped it over An Lan.
Because An Lan was petite, the large bear skin wrapped around her with the hem even dragging on the ground, making her look like she was wearing a magnificent robe.
"Come, wrap yourself in this; it's windy and snowy outside, don't catch a cold."
Lu Fan said with concern, and looking at An Lan, he couldn't help but laugh out loud, "Haha, you look like Kaiser Belial right now."
"Belial? Who's that?" An Lan asked curiously, her large, watery eyes full of doubt.
"You don't know Belial? He's a great father," Lu Fan said seriously, though a hint of mischief flashed in his eyes.
An Lan rolled her eyes at Lu Fan and said, pretending to be angry, "I don't believe your nonsense. Hurry up and come in here to wrap up with me, or do you think you can withstand this cold wind?"
Lu Fan's eyes lit up, and like a child who had received candy, he quickly pulled up the bear skin and ducked inside, pressing close to An Lan.
The two of them, wrapped in the bear skin, stood shoulder to shoulder.
And so, the group (and the monkeys) set off in a grand procession.
Lu Fan and An Lan walked at the very front of the group, their figures appearing exceptionally warm against the backdrop of the white snow.
The Monkey troop followed closely behind like a group of cheerful little lackeys.
The Little Monkeys were incredibly excited, jumping and hopping all the way, running here and jumping there, occasionally stopping to curiously examine the flowers and trees covered in snow by the roadside.
The Monkey King, like a responsible leader, walked in the middle of the Monkey troop with his head held high, occasionally looking back at his "troop" to ensure no Little Monkey had fallen behind.
His majestic appearance seemed to announce to everyone that he would definitely protect every member.
The road after the snowfall was exceptionally difficult to walk; the snow was thick and soft, and every step felt like stepping into a small pit, making progress difficult.
Fortunately, Lu Fan's physical constitution was strong; he held An Lan firmly and walked forward steadily step by step.
His arm was powerful and steady, like a solid mountain, giving An Lan a full sense of security.
