175: Chapter 174 The Seeds of Civilization, the Brick-Moving Monkey
In the bustling territory of the Monkey troop, the Monkey King, after much busy effort and tinkering, finally finished processing the branches in its hands.
It piled the processed branches together with the vines and leaves it had gathered earlier, and excitedly began to build a shack.
First, it firmly stuck several thick branches into the ground, forming an irregular circle.
Then, with nimble hands and feet, it tied them tightly together with vines, and finally, carefully layered on the leaves.
Although the resulting shack was crooked and looked flimsy, as if it might collapse at any second...
...the Monkey King's face was full of smugness, like a proud little general.
It scurried in and out of the shack happily, occasionally running up to other monkeys and gesturing wildly to show off, its expression as if saying this was the greatest masterpiece of its life.
Witnessing this scene, Lu Fan suddenly realized the truth.
It turned out the Monkey King had seen the efficiency and convenience of Lu Fan using tools in his daily life and realized that tools could help them complete various tasks more easily; that was why it had "stolen" the stone tools.
Looking at the Monkey King and the lively monkeys around it, an indescribable and wonderful feeling welled up in Lu Fan's heart.
These little guys were clever and sharp, showing great enthusiasm and talent for using tools.
If they could continue to learn and master the use of tools, they might truly create a unique civilization of their own.
At this thought, Lu Fan made a decisive choice.
With a face full of smiles, he stepped forward gently, patted the Monkey King's shoulder, and pointed first to the stone axe and stone knife on the ground, then to the shack the monkeys were building.
Then, he solemnly handed the tools to the Monkey King and said earnestly, "These are for you all. I hope they help make your lives more rewarding!"
At first, the Monkey King looked bewildered, holding the tools at a loss, its eyes filled with confusion.
Seeing this, Lu Fan patiently demonstrated the actions of chopping wood with the stone axe and cutting with the stone knife again, explaining in detail as he operated.
The Monkey King finally understood, excitedly took the tools, and turned back to dive into building the shack.
When the other monkeys saw the Monkey King had received treasure-like tools, they immediately gathered around, watching eagerly with eyes full of expectation.
Lu Fan smiled and comforted them, "Don't worry, don't worry, there's enough for everyone!"
With that, he distributed the remaining stone tools one by one to the other monkeys, teaching them the techniques hand-in-hand.
The monkeys were indeed intelligent; in no time, they had mastered the use of the tools and were busily working away in the woods.
Some monkeys swung stone axes, chopping branches with great vigor; some held stone knives, carefully whittling wood; and others used stones to crack open Nuts, enjoying the delicious treats.
For a while, the woods echoed with the sound of "thump-thump" tapping, interwoven with the cheerful cries of the monkeys—a truly vibrant scene.
Watching this lively and warm scene, An Lan asked curiously, "You really gave them all the tools? Aren't you afraid of any accidents?"
Lu Fan smiled and explained, "There's a saying that the difference between humans and animals is that humans know how to use tools. Ever since humans learned to use tools, the process of civilization began.
So, if these monkeys also master the use of tools, could they also start their own civilization? I'm truly curious.
Besides, we have more advanced iron tools now, so these stone tools aren't as useful to us anymore. Giving them away is a good use for them."
Hearing this, An Lan couldn't help but laugh, "Your ideas are truly novel and unique. However, seeing how happy they are, giving them the tools is quite worth it."
At this moment, the livestream room was flooded with barrage comments:
"Holy crap, the monkeys actually know how to use tools!"
"It reminds me of a movie called 'Planet of the Apes,' where the apes are just like people."
"Am I the only one who finds this terrifying? Humans interfering with the development of a species—does this count as changing history?"
"In Da Liu's short story 'Destiny,' dinosaurs became the overlords of Earth. Do you think in this wilderness, this group of tool-using monkeys will dominate the wild?"
In the bustling territory of the Monkey troop, Lu Fan looked at the busy monkeys, cleared his throat, and said loudly:
"Old friends, I have a big project over at my place and need your help moving some bricks. If you help with this, I promise there will be even more delicious rabbit meat next time!"
Upon hearing this, the Monkey King's eyes lit up instantly. It let out a few "cree-cree" cries, as if summoning its companions and readily agreeing to Lu Fan.
The other monkeys also stopped what they were doing and gathered around, full of curiosity about the new "mission."
Thus, Lu Fan and An Lan led the Monkey troop in a grand procession toward the brick kiln.
Along the way, the monkeys were jumping and bouncing, full of energy. Some shuttled nimbly between tree branches, while others ran happily on the ground.
Some mischievous ones jumped onto Lu Fan and An Lan's shoulders, occasionally tugging at their hair, making the two of them burst into laughter.
Da Hei also excitedly ran back and forth among the Monkey troop, mingling with the monkeys and having a great time.
After reaching the brick kiln, Lu Fan picked up a brick, held it high, and shouted, "Everyone look! Move these. Move them over to my Shelter!"
As he spoke, he placed the brick in front of a larger monkey and gently patted its shoulder.
The monkeys stared at the brick, sizing it up curiously at first. Then, a few brave monkeys took the lead, imitating Lu Fan by picking up bricks and running toward the Shelter.
Seeing this, the other monkeys followed suit. For a time, the road from the brick kiln to the Shelter was filled with monkeys carrying bricks, like a busy and joyful "brick-moving assembly line."
The Monkey King was even more energetic; it struggled to hold a brick larger than itself, walking unsteadily.
Despite how difficult it looked, it gritted its teeth and persisted, occasionally looking back at the other monkeys like a responsible traffic controller.
A Little Monkey accidentally dropped a brick on the ground, scaring it into jumping away. It then watched the other monkeys eagerly, as if asking for help.
Another passing monkey saw this and, without a word, picked up the brick and helped carry it to the Shelter.
During the brick-moving process, the monkeys even came up with many novel and interesting methods.
Some monkeys stacked several bricks together, tied them firmly with vines, and then dragged them along; some monkeys worked in pairs, with one pulling in front and one pushing from behind.
Watching these creative actions of the monkeys, Lu Fan and An Lan couldn't stop laughing.
"These little guys are really smart!" An Lan sighed with a smile.
"Yeah, maybe they really will create their own civilization in the future." Lu Fan looked at the busy Monkey troop, his eyes full of expectation and longing.
As time passed, the bricks in the brick kiln grew fewer, while the pile of bricks by the Shelter grew higher.
Although the monkeys were panting from exhaustion, not a single one backed down.
Their enthusiasm was like a burning flame, filling the entire wilderness with vigorous life and vitality.
