23: Crafting bamboo chairs and bamboo beds

Finally, the stewed mutton with bamboo shoots was ready. Lu Fan used a wooden spoon to gently scoop a spoonful, blew on the steam, and then carefully took a taste.

The mutton was stewed until it was soft and flavorful. The fresh fragrance of the bamboo shoots and the deliciousness of the mutton blended perfectly, making him nod repeatedly in praise.

"This stewed mutton with bamboo shoots is truly delicious. Every bite is a gift from nature."

He served the stewed mutton into a bowl and sat in front of the Shelter, enjoying it slowly.

The viewers in the livestream room watched Lu Fan eat the stewed mutton with bamboo shoots and could only drool in envy.

"Technology is so advanced, yet I can only sit here eating synthetic nutritional meals."

"I'm starving. I quickly made a bowl of Master Kang's mutton soup noodles."

"When did this flavor come out? How come I didn't know?"

After finishing his meal, Lu Fan washed the pot and bowl, then lay down in the Shelter to take a nap.

Waking up, Lu Fan couldn't help but stretch.

[An animal has entered your territory]

Lu Fan was startled and walked outside the house to check.

He saw a hedgehog by the fire, licking the leftovers on the ground.

Lu Fan walked over to observe it.

The livestream room also became lively.

"It's a hedgehog. So cute."

"I've only seen them in zoos. There are no wild animals left outside now."

"Great God Lu Fan isn't going to eat the hedgehog, is he?"

"Probably not. How would you even eat something covered in quills?"

The hedgehog also noticed Lu Fan; startled, it immediately ran into the woods.

Lu Fan didn't choose to chase the hedgehog. Instead, he stroked his chin and fell into thought.

It seemed the Shelter's defenses still needed improvement. Currently, the camp only had the Bamboo House where he lived, which didn't provide much defense against the outside.

Since there was plenty of bamboo left, Lu Fan decided to add a fence around the house.

He first measured and planned the layout of the fence, ensuring it would provide protection without hindering daily entry and exit.

Lu Fan cut several thick bamboos into equal lengths, each over a meter high.

Then he inserted the bamboo into the ground at certain intervals, deep enough to ensure stability.

Next, he used vines to connect the bamboos, forming a sturdy structure.

"Lu Fan is making a fence! That's amazing!"

"This fence looks very strong."

After finishing the fence, there was still a lot of bamboo left. Lu Fan thought about how to use it.

Suddenly his eyes lit up, and he had an idea: "Right, I can use the bamboo to make a bamboo chair and a bamboo bed. That way, it'll be more comfortable when I rest."

No sooner said than done. Lu Fan selected suitable bamboo, carefully measured the lengths, and used his dagger to shave the bamboo to the right size.

To make the bamboo chair, he chose four longer pieces of bamboo for the legs and several shorter pieces for the backrest and armrests.

"The chair has to be sturdy and comfortable to sit on," Lu Fan muttered to himself as he began to work.

He first fixed four bamboo poles into a square frame as the main body of the chair.

Then, he used vines to bind the bamboo tightly together, ensuring the structure was stable.

Next, he fixed several shorter bamboo pieces parallel to each other between the legs to serve as the seat.

Finally, he used the same method to make the backrest and armrests, and a simple bamboo chair was finished.

In the livestream room.

"Lu Fan is making a bamboo chair! That's incredible!"

"This bamboo chair looks very comfortable. I want to sit on it too."

"This green color is very soothing."

"I feel an itch on my head."

Once the bamboo chair was finished, Lu Fan sat on it with satisfaction; it felt pretty good.

He then began making the bamboo bed. He chose more bamboo and constructed a larger frame for the bed's main body.

Then, he used vines to bind the bamboo together, ensuring the bed's stability.

To increase comfort, Lu Fan wove a Bamboo Mat out of bamboo strips and placed it on top to prevent any unevenness.

Then he spread some dried moss over the Bamboo Mat to act as a mattress, making it extremely soft to sleep on.

"This bamboo bed should be very comfortable. Great God Lu Fan can have a good night's sleep now."

"The Simmons mattress at home suddenly doesn't seem so great anymore."

After finishing the bamboo chair and bed, Lu Fan stood aside, looking over his work with satisfaction.

He went over to the bamboo bed and lay down; it felt just right—not too hard, not too soft—and very comfortable.

Lu Fan couldn't help but close his eyes, enjoying a moment of tranquility.

In the livestream room.

"It hasn't been easy; Great God Lu Fan is truly exhausted."

"He's been busy every single day since the beginning."

"I hope everything goes well for Great God Lu Fan."

"It would be great if our country's contestants could get together and help each other."

After sleeping for a little while, Lu Fan got up.

"There's still a lot to do. I can't be lazy." He rubbed his face to wake himself up.

Laziness is addictive; when someone wants to slack off, they can find many excuses.

Many people think, 'Just a quick break, just a temporary stop; it won't matter much and won't delay anything.'

Most of the time, that's exactly how time is wasted.

But in the wilderness, Lu Fan knew he had to remain vigilant and highly focused at all times.

If he didn't work hard to do everything well now, he wouldn't be able to cope when real danger arrived.

Furthermore, he wasn't surviving alone. He had his country behind him; he had to find more resources for his nation and change the plight of resource scarcity.

As a citizen of Hua Country, since he was chosen to participate in Wilderness Survival, this was the responsibility he ought to fulfill.

After stretching his limbs a bit, Lu Fan picked up his dagger and started working again.

He split the bamboo into thumb-thick arrows and used his dagger to trim them until they were smooth and round.

One after another, a large pile of arrows soon appeared on the ground.

Lu Fan carefully sharpened the tips of the arrows and placed them in the charcoal fire to harden.

The Wild Chickens he had caught earlier provided him with many feathers.

He attached the Wild Chicken feathers to the tails of the arrows to increase their stability, based on the same principle as an airplane's tail.

By the time he finished, the sun was sinking in the west, around four or five o'clock.

It was time to think about dinner.

Today he decided to go to the sea to find something to eat, even though there was still plenty of mutton.

However, until a stable food source was secured, he still had to eat sparingly.

Therefore, looking for food in the sea became a good choice, especially since it was close by.

After a quick tidy-up, Lu Fan took his gear and headed toward the seaside.

livestream room.

"Great God Lu Fan is going out to hunt again. He's so diligent."

"Even though there's still so much food."

"Because we Hua Country people are used to preparing for danger in times of peace and won't just sit and consume our resources. That's why we take the path of sustainable development."

"It's all the fault of those foreigners who endlessly exploit resources and drag us down with them."
