105: Extreme weather is coming

After finishing the work in the fields, the sun was already high in the sky, its blazing light so bright it was hard to keep one's eyes open.

Lu Fan and An Lan hid in the Shelter, drinking mountain spring water chilled with ice, feeling incredibly comfortable.

"This weather... it's already this hot today, I can't imagine how hot it will be tomorrow," An Lan said while wiping the sweat from her forehead.

Lu Fan nodded. "Yeah, so we need to take advantage of the time and prepare more things. It'll be cooler at night, so we'll go cut some fodder then to prepare rations for the animals."

Finally, night arrived. As the cool evening breeze blew, Lu Fan and An Lan instantly regained their vitality.

Carrying their knives, they came to a lush meadow.

Moonlight spilled over the grass, looking as if a layer of silver frost had been spread across the earth.

"Wow, this meadow is so beautiful under the moonlight. It doesn't feel like the wilderness; it feels like a fairy tale world," An Lan said excitedly.

Lu Fan smiled and said, "That's the charm of nature. But let's get to work first, otherwise the animals will go hungry tomorrow."

The two began cutting grass. Lu Fan used a shovel to directly sever the roots.

Under his powerful arm strength, the grass fell in neat rows.

An Lan was cutting with a Broadsword on the side, but her movements were a bit clumsy, and her cutting speed was much slower.

"Oh dear, why won't this blade listen to me?" An Lan muttered, fine beads of sweat appearing on her forehead.

Seeing this, Lu Fan walked over and took the Broadsword. "Forget it, you should just help me bind the grass. Wait until I make a sickle next time before you try again."

Lu Fan shoveled the grass while An Lan bound it. Before long, tall haystacks piled up behind them.

"The scenery here is so beautiful. I even saw fireflies just now," An Lan praised as she looked at the quiet night.

Da Hei could also be seen running around in the fields, pouncing on fireflies.

Lu Fan smiled and said, "This is the charm of nature, something you can't see in a big city."

After several hours of effort, the two finally cut enough fodder.

They bundled the grass, carried it back to the Shelter, and stacked it neatly in a corner.

Looking at the fodder, An Lan said with satisfaction, "Now the animals can get through the high-temperature weather comfortably."

After a busy day, the two were so tired they collapsed onto their beds.

Although their bodies were exhausted, their hearts felt incredibly fulfilled.

"Today really wasn't easy, but since we've prepared so thoroughly, the high temperatures definitely won't beat us," An Lan said with a yawn.

Their sleeping quarters were separated by only a wall, and the two often chatted at night.

Lu Fan responded, "Yeah, as long as we work together, no difficulty can stop us."

After midnight, the once-cool air seemed to have its chill swiftly snatched away by an invisible giant hand, and the temperature began to skyrocket.

In the darkness, Lu Fan and An Lan were sleeping soundly, completely unaware of the impending "heat crisis."

At first, Lu Fan just tossed in his sleep, muttering, "Why is it getting a bit hot..."

But soon, that heat was like a surging tide, completely submerging him.

He opened his eyes dizzily and wiped the sweat from his forehead, only to find that the entire Shelter was like a giant steamer.

"An Lan, An Lan, are you awake?" Lu Fan called out as he sat up, reaching out to feel for the water bottle beside him.

However, the water in the bottle had also become warm, failing to quench his thirst at all.

An Lan was also woken by the heat, answering weakly, "I'm dying of heat, what kind of hellish weather is this!"

Lu Fan looked around by the faint moonlight and found that Da Hei, Big Horn, and the other animals were also too hot to sleep, pacing restlessly in the corners.

Da Hei had his tongue out, panting heavily, while Big Horn kept flicking his tail, trying to drive away the omnipresent heat.

"It seems this heatwave is even more severe than we imagined," Lu Fan said with a frown.

He quickly got up to get a large basin of water for Da Hei and the others.

"Come on, guys, drink some water to cool down," Lu Fan said as he placed the basin in front of Da Hei and Big Horn.

Da Hei acted as if he had seen a lifeline, plunging his head into the water and drinking with a "gurgle gurgle."

Big Horn was not to be outdone, sticking out his tongue to lap up the water. Before long, half of the large basin of water was gone.

Having solved the animals' drinking problem, Lu Fan immediately fetched another basin of cool water and carefully carried it to An Lan's room.

"An Lan, quick, wipe your face with some cool water, it'll make you feel better." Lu Fan placed the basin by An Lan's bed and picked up a nearby hat to fan her.

An Lan gave Lu Fan a grateful look and wiped her face with the cool water, instantly feeling a bit more refreshed.

"Thank you, Lu Fan. This weather is so hot I feel like I'm about to be roasted alive."

Lu Fan smiled and said, "Why be so polite with me? We're in the same boat now."

"This temperature is harder to endure than I imagined," An Lan sighed.

Lu Fan suddenly had an idea. "Wait here, I'll get you a basin of water."

Saying that, Lu Fan ran out and fetched a basin of mountain spring water. He reached in to touch it; it was icy cold.

He placed the water in the corner of the room, and after a while, the temperature in the room really did seem to drop a bit.

In the livestream room, viewers were also drawn in by their plight, sending barrage comments one after another to offer suggestions.

"Using water to cool down is a good method."

"Maybe try putting a wet towel on your body; evaporative cooling can also lower the temperature."

"I'm feeling hot just for them. This wilderness heat is a real test."

The night was deep, but the heat of the wilderness did not diminish at all. This intense heat was like a borderless disaster, sweeping through every corner, and Wilderness Survival contestants from different countries were all struggling under its weight.

The contestant from Japan, Yamamoto, was currently as hot as a dog, sticking out his tongue to dissipate heat.

His Shelter was built from thin branches and leaves; in this sweltering weather, it was practically like it was made of paper, offering no heat insulation whatsoever.

Yamamoto was shirtless, sweat constantly rolling off his lean body, as he weakly fanned himself with a large leaf.

But the air he fanned was also hot, failing to alleviate the unbearable heat in the slightest.

"When will this hellish weather end!" Yamamoto muttered in Japanese, his voice full of exhaustion and irritability.

Far away on the other side, the Pretty Country contestant Andre was not doing any better.

His Shelter actually looked quite sturdy, built from large stones and thick tree trunks, but in this high heat, it had become a giant steamer.

Andre was holding a simple animal-skin fan, fanning frantically in an attempt to create a hint of cool breeze.

But the wind from the fan was like air from a furnace, making him feel even hotter instead.

"Dammit, this is hotter than a Texas summer!" Andre complained loudly, his face flushed red with heat as large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead.
