133: Indigenous people's speculation

After eating, Lu Fan fed the animals.

Then, he brewed two cups of tea and sat by the fire chatting with An Lan.

"Our luck today was really good; we actually found potatoes," Lu Fan said happily.

"Yeah, the taste of these potatoes is exactly the same as the ones I ate when I was a child."

A hint of reminiscence appeared on An Lan's face.

"That's true indeed, a familiar taste, a familiar... texture..."

Lu Fan, who was drinking tea, suddenly paused.

An Lan looked at the suddenly dazed Lu Fan and asked curiously, "What's wrong? Did you think of something?"

Lu Fan put down his teacup and looked at An Lan with a strange expression, voicing his doubt: "Why would potatoes in the middle of nowhere be the same as the ones we cultivate?"

Lu Fan remembered seeing wild potatoes in the wild in his previous life.

Wild potatoes mostly have brown or black skin, the skin is rough, and the inside is hard, with a texture closer to a root.

But the potatoes he just dug up were clearly yellow-skinned potatoes.

Hearing Lu Fan's question, An Lan was also stunned.

"What's... going on?"

Lu Fan lowered his head in thought. The chili peppers, Taro, and fruits they had picked before all seemed closer to the quality of modern life.

He hadn't noticed before, but thinking about it now, if it were natural evolution, there should be differences.

In an instant, a speculation surfaced in Lu Fan's heart: "Do you think it's possible that the wilderness we're in is actually a real world where humans live, but we just haven't encountered them yet?"

An Lan was shocked by Lu Fan's speculation: "Guessing like that, it's possible. Could the potatoes have been bred by natives and just ended up in the wild?"

The livestream room instantly erupted, and barrage comments scrolled frantically like snowflakes.

"Yeah, these fruits and plants really look like the kind grown by humans."

"I was saying those potatoes looked too perfect, not like something grown in the wild."

"I think the native theory is quite plausible; maybe there are mysterious tribes around this wilderness."

"Could it be a parallel world of Blue Star!"

"Parallel world? That's quite a stretch! But it doesn't seem impossible."

"If it's a parallel world, then maybe we'll encounter all sorts of magical things later. Just thinking about it is exciting!"

Lu Fan watched the flickering flames, his thoughts drifting far away.

An Lan frowned, her eyes full of curiosity and doubt: "If there really are natives, what would they be like? Would they use tools and build Shelters like us?"

Lu Fan rubbed his chin, lost in thought: "Regardless, we have to act carefully."

If there really are natives, their way of life will be different from ours. It would be troublesome if a conflict arose.

However, if we can communicate and cooperate with them, we might get more information about this world."

Seeing An Lan's worried look, Lu Fan smiled and comforted her.

"Don't worry. Look, in this middle of nowhere, we haven't even seen a ghost, let alone people. And even if there are natives, they can't be that advanced. We even have Gunpowder, so what's there to fear?"

Hearing this, An Lan also smiled: "I'm just scaring myself. If the natives here could really develop while maintaining such a vast wilderness without destroying it, then I estimate their technological level is not something we can contend with, so worrying is useless."

After coming to terms with this, the two didn't dwell on it further and went straight back to their room to rest.

"An Lan."

"What is it?"

"If there's really danger, I'll protect you with my life."

"...Okay, goodnight."

Meanwhile, on the internet, discussions about the Wilderness Survival world spread rapidly, with various theories emerging.

There were conspiracy theories, parallel universe theories, and even theories about aliens observing humans.

The next morning, sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, sprinkling over the Shelter like golden threads.

Lu Fan woke up early and arrived at the place where the potatoes were stored, full of energy.

He searched carefully and picked out a few old potatoes with rough skin and obvious eyes, muttering to himself: "Whether we can eat a steady stream of potatoes in the future depends on you guys!"

He decided to cultivate potato seeds just as he did with the Taro.

He carefully cut the potatoes into small pieces, ensuring each piece had at least one eye. His movements were so meticulous it was as if he were carving a rare treasure.

"These eyes are the key. Whether we can grow sturdy potato seedlings depends entirely on them!"

Lu Fan explained while cutting to An Lan, who was watching curiously nearby.

After cutting them, Lu Fan gently placed the potato pieces on the seedbed and carefully covered them with a layer of soft, withered leaves, as if covering them with a warm little blanket.

"Alright, now we just wait for them to sprout."

Lu Fan stood up and clapped his hands, his eyes filled with longing for the future.

After finishing all this, Lu Fan and An Lan had a simple lunch.

But just as he put down his bowl and chopsticks, Lu Fan frowned and walked to the Storage Room.

Inside was their food. Although it looked packed to the brim, it couldn't withstand careful calculation.

First, Lu Fan and An Lan consumed a lot of energy during their daily explorations, so they ate quite a bit.

Moreover, after Lu Fan's body was strengthened, his appetite increased day by day.

Then there were the animals in the Shelter. Most of them were fine as they mostly just ate grass.

But there was also Da Hei, a carnivore. Although he occasionally went out to find food himself, most of the time it was handled at the Shelter.

Lu Fan couldn't just ignore him; he was his capable general!

"This food really doesn't last long."

An Lan also came over to take a look and said somewhat worriedly: "Yeah, it looks like we need to find a way to store more food. How about we go out this afternoon and see if we can find more surprises like the potatoes?"

Lu Fan's eyes lit up, and he said excitedly: "Great idea! We might even run into some wild fruits or vegetables. However, we have to prepare well; we can't come back empty-handed."

So the two began to prepare: bows and arrows, shovels, baskets, and so on.

With everything ready, the two set off with Da Hei.

Da Hei also seemed to sense they were going on an adventure, running around excitedly in front, occasionally looking back at Lu Fan and An Lan, his tail wagging like a drumstick.

An Lan watched as Lu Fan excitedly tied Firecrackers to his arrows and said helplessly: "What are you tying Firecrackers to those for?"

Lu Fan replied with a grin: "I have to protect you. If we encounter danger, I'll use my Explosive Bow to blast them, making sure their face blooms like a peach blossom."

"Stop being silly. I think you just want to play."
