224: Chapter 223 Shoehorn Fish

Lu Fan and An Lan stood side by side on the beach, with the endless sea stretching out before them.

The waves rhythmically lapped against the shore, making a pleasant sound as if performing a natural symphony.

Lu Fan was in high spirits; he pointed toward the waters to the left, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

"An Lan, let's change direction today. We'll enter the sea from here; maybe we'll find some different treasures!"

An Lan's lips curled up as she nodded with a smile, her eyes full of anticipation and a deep longing for exploring the unknown depths.

As soon as the two entered the water, a transparent film instantly enveloped them like a custom-made magical diving suit, allowing them to breathe freely in this deep and mysterious underwater world.

This scene was witnessed by the viewers in the livestream room, and the barrage comments immediately began scrolling frantically like a rising tide.

"It feels so magical every time I see it; it's like watching a sci-fi blockbuster!"

"If this thing existed in reality, I'd definitely soak in the ocean all day and never come out."

"With how viscous the seawater is nowadays—it's practically stringy—who would dare go in there?"

"Viscous? Is it as viscous as my children?"

"666"

Lu Fan and An Lan had long since grown accustomed to these exclamations.

After all, in this fantastical world of Wilderness Survival, they had experienced too many incredible things; gradually, having seen so much wonder, nothing seemed strange anymore.

They took a deep breath, adjusted their posture, and like two agile dolphins, swam cheerfully in their chosen direction.

Sunlight filtered through the clear seawater, casting patches of golden light on the seabed as if carpeting it with crushed gold.

Various colorful fish darted past them, sometimes circling around and sometimes scattering, as if warmly welcoming these two uninvited guests.

While being mesmerized by the dreamlike underwater scenery, they carefully explored every corner, not missing a single spot that might hide treasure.

Without realizing it, they had already swum a great distance.

Suddenly, a giant octopus darted past them like a bolt of black lightning with a "whoosh."

Its eight long tentacles were like dancing ropes, carving eerie arcs through the water.

An Lan was frightened out of her wits by the sudden intruder; she couldn't help but scream, her body uncontrollably recoiling a big step.

Lu Fan, quick-eyed and deft-handed, hurried to steady her, comforting her, "Don't be afraid, watch me take care of it!"

In an instant, Lu Fan was like a brave and fearless warrior, filled with fighting spirit. Gripping his harpoon tightly, he kicked off hard and shot toward the octopus like an arrow from a bow.

The octopus seemed to sense the approaching danger, and its speed suddenly increased.

It wove nimbly through the complex underwater reefs like a skilled dancer performing on a rocky stage.

Lu Fan pursued relentlessly, shouting as he chased, "You little brat, let's see where you can run! Today, I'm definitely going to taste some charcoal-grilled octopus tentacles!"

However, the octopus seemed to be teasing Lu Fan on purpose; every time he was about to catch up, it would skillfully turn, using the reefs for cover to easily evade him.

Watching this "chase battle" between man and octopus from behind, An Lan felt both annoyed and amused. She couldn't help but shout, "Lu Fan, stop chasing! You won't catch it; it's too agile!"

Finally, after chasing for a while, the octopus used its familiarity with the underwater environment to successfully disappear into the depths of the reefs.

Lu Fan finally stopped, looking in the direction where the octopus had vanished, and muttered unwillingly, "Damn it!"

Those that can survive and reproduce in nature are all top-tier; never underestimate any species.

Thinking of this, Lu Fan couldn't help but laugh out loud. "There truly are countless heroes in this world; I have underestimated the fish of the world. Hahaha, interesting, this is getting more and more interesting..."

An Lan caught up at this point and patted Lu Fan on the shoulder, interrupting his moment of fantasy. "It's fine, if it got away, it got away."

The two continued swimming forward. Just then, An Lan's sharp eyes spotted a peculiar-looking Flat-mouthed Fish in a nearby coral reef.

"Lu Fan, look!"

[Found a supply card]

Lu Fan looked in the direction An Lan was pointing and saw a strange-looking fish with a flat mouth and dull, lifeless eyes; it looked exactly like a shoehorn.

livestream room.

"Holy moly, this fish is so damn ugly."

"Did this fish evolve into this crappy look on purpose so people wouldn't eat it?"

"Don't you guys think this fish looks a bit like people from the Land of Sticks? Aren't shoehorn-faced handsome guys popular there now?"

"Aren't those the 'three-door refrigerator' handsome guys?"

At that moment, it was squeezed tightly into a crevice in the rocks, seemingly seeking a sense of security.

But most importantly, it was holding a shimmering supply card in its mouth!

An Lan looked excited, her finger trembling as she pointed toward the Flat-mouthed Fish.

Lu Fan's eyes lit up instantly, and he said excitedly, "Good heavens, this truly is 'searching far and wide only to find it by chance'!"

He immediately activated his Animal Affinity skill, attempting to lure the Flat-mouthed Fish over.

With a face full of smiles, he spoke softly to the fish, "Hey, little guy, come here. Give me that treasure in your mouth, and I'll find you something even tastier."

However, the Flat-mouthed Fish was like a stubborn Alzheimer's patient, completely unmoved by Lu Fan's calls.

It just stayed quietly in the crevice beneath the coral reef, watching Lu Fan and An Lan warily, occasionally flicking its tail as if in a show of force, or as if saying, "Don't even think about taking what's in my mouth."

"How can this fish be so stupid!" Lu Fan couldn't help but complain.

After several attempts, Lu Fan discovered that some animals with particularly low intelligence simply couldn't sense his Animal Affinity.

His current behavior was like playing a lute to a cow or winking at a blind man—a total waste of effort.

The main problem was that the crevice was quite small; the trident in his hand couldn't fit inside at all.

Lu Fan grew a bit anxious. He increased the output of his skill, his smile becoming as stiff as a plaster mask, yet the Flat-mouthed Fish remained as steady as a mountain, with no intention of coming out.

Watching Lu Fan's comical appearance from the side, An Lan couldn't help but burst out laughing with a "pfft." "Don't just talk to it; take some real action."

Lu Fan rubbed his chin and thought for a moment. Suddenly, he noticed a few Sea Urchins nearby, and his eyes lit up as a plan came to mind.

He used a harpoon to precisely spear a Sea Urchin, then used his dagger to carefully pry it open, extracting the fresh roe inside.

He held the roe in his hand and gently waved it in the water.

The enticing aroma instantly spread through the water like an invisible hand, beginning to tease the Flat-mouthed Fish's olfactory nerves.

The Flat-mouthed Fish's eyes moved; it seemed somewhat tempted, but it still cautiously refrained from swimming over.

Seeing this, Lu Fan swam forward a bit more and continued waving the Sea Urchin roe, muttering, "Come on, come on, this is much tastier than that card in your mouth."
