223: Chapter 222 You Talk in Your Sleep

The Monkey King cautiously picked up a piece of rabbit meat and took a bite.

Its eyes instantly widened, followed by a few "squeaks" as if saying "this is delicious," before it began devouring the meat ravenously.

Not to be outdone, the Little Monkeys swarmed around, scrambling for a bite.

“It seems your cooking skills are quite to their taste,” An Lan said with a smile.

“Of course. My skills are something even monkeys can't resist,” Lu Fan said proudly.

After finishing the rabbit, the Monkey King let out a burp, patted its round belly, and then walked up to Lu Fan and An Lan.

Chirping and chattering to express its gratitude, Lu Fan directly gave it some dried chili peppers, salt, and spices.

“You should have seen how to use these just now; I'm giving them to you now.”

Looking at the spices in Lu Fan's hand, the Monkey King's eyes lit up instantly; it knew this was the secret to the delicious roast meat.

Finally, the Monkey King waved to the two of them before leading the Little Monkeys away, satisfied.

“This Monkey King is quite polite,” Lu Fan said, watching the Monkey King's departing figure.

“Yes, they really are very intelligent.”

An Lan said, “Maybe we can even cooperate with them in the future.”

The two packed up their things and sat back down by the campfire.

“Come to think of it, today's events were really absurd. Getting a Down Jacket from an egg, now receiving Pineapples from monkeys, and even treating them to roast rabbit,” Lu Fan said with a laugh.

“This Wilderness Survival really is full of surprises and accidents.”

An Lan said, “But a life like this is actually quite interesting.”

“Yeah, it's much more interesting than I imagined.”

Lu Fan said, “I originally thought it would be very difficult, but I didn't expect to meet you. Life has suddenly become much more flavorful.”

Hearing this, An Lan's face turned slightly red. “You certainly know how to say sweet things.”

“I'm speaking from the heart.”

Lu Fan said seriously, “In this wilderness, with you by my side, I feel like any difficulty can be overcome.”

“Did you have a fiancée before?” An Lan suddenly asked.

Lu Fan instantly turned to stone.

“Huh?! ...Why would you say that?”

Lu Fan's voice trembled slightly, and he felt like his heart was about to stop.

An Lan straightened the frozen Lu Fan, making him look her in the eye, and said seriously: “Don't you know you talk in your sleep?”

Lu Fan took a deep breath and squeezed out a smile: “That was just a dream. You know, dreams don't have any basis in reality. Don't worry, I will always protect you.”

“I've never doubted you, I just wanted to understand the situation.”

An Lan's serious gaze made Lu Fan avoid her eyes slightly.

Finally, he sighed: “She was my childhood sweetheart, but... she passed away in an accident.”

After saying this, Lu Fan fell into silence, lowering his head and saying no more.

Seeing him like this, a trace of heartache flashed in An Lan's eyes. She gently stroked his head: “It's okay, tell me whenever you're ready to talk.”

Lu Fan gave An Lan a guilty look, and An Lan returned a smile.

The two leaned against each other as the flames continued to flicker.

In the livestream room.

“Nani!! What's the situation? Great God Lu Fan had a fiancée?”

“I'm done. Can't we just have pure love to the end?”

“Wuwuwu, I smell a tragic plot twist coming.”

“You people, in today's society, where is there any pure love? If you have money, you have a girlfriend, don't you get it?”

The next morning, the first ray of dawn pierced through the dense foliage, casting fragmented shadows on the ground. The air was still filled with a hint of chill, carrying the unique freshness of the wilderness.

Lu Fan, as if wound up like a clock, scrambled out of bed and nimbly dove into the temporary "kitchen."

The so-called kitchen was merely a simple stove built from a few bricks, with ingredients they had collected recently placed nearby.

Lu Fan was frantically searching around, picking up a Lamb Chop one moment and tinkering with wild fruits the next.

From time to time, he would steal a glance at the still-sleeping An Lan out of the corner of his eye. He looked exactly like a little cat caught stealing food, his heart full of trepidation.

An Lan slowly woke up, her nose being the first to catch the enticing aroma wafting through the air.

She rubbed her bleary eyes and saw a breakfast spread that was more lavish than she could have imagined.

The golden-brown Lamb Chops were fried until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, sizzling with oil.

Sliced Pineapple chunks were soaking in salt water, thoughtfully paired with bamboo skewers.

There was also Goat Milk that had been heated and allowed to cool to a warm temperature, steaming as if expressing Lu Fan's full heart.

An Lan saw through Lu Fan's little scheme at a glance and burst out laughing. Her laughter was crisp and pleasant, like the happy chirping of birds in the forest, instantly echoing throughout the small Shelter.

“Student Lu Fan, did the sun rise from the west today? You actually made so much delicious food?”

She teased him intentionally, the upward curve of her lips impossible to hide.

Lu Fan scratched his head, his face turning from white to red as he stammered an explanation: “Well... about last night, I... I really didn't mean to keep it from you.”

His voice carried a bit of nervousness, as if he were genuinely afraid An Lan was angry.

An Lan walked over and gently patted his shoulder, her eyes crinkling with laughter like flowers blooming in spring: “Alright, alright, I'm really not angry. Look at how nervous you are, your face is almost turning green.”

Her tone was soft, carrying a hint of reassurance.

However, no matter how Lu Fan looked at it, he felt there was something elusive hidden in that smile. His heart still felt like a little rabbit was inside, thumping up and down incessantly.

However, as the two sat at the crude "dining table," eating breakfast and chatting idly, the atmosphere gradually returned to its usual relaxed state.

Lu Fan secretly breathed a sigh of relief, muttering to himself: “It seems I was overthinking it.”

Watching An Lan eat the food he had prepared with satisfaction, the corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up into a smile.

After a hearty meal, the two sat comfortably on bamboo chairs, resting leisurely.

The warm sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting fragmented shadows and adding a touch of dreaminess to this peaceful world.

Lu Fan picked up a bamboo skewer, gently poked a golden piece of Pineapple, and handed it to An Lan. With a bright smile, he said, “Teacher An, try this sweet Pineapple.”

An Lan couldn't help but burst out laughing, feigning a cross look: “You really know how to play the fool.”

Despite her words, she obediently opened her mouth and took the Pineapple. The sweet juice spread across her taste buds, making her smile even more radiant.

After resting for a while, the two looked out at the shimmering sea in the distance. A surge of desire to explore welled up in their hearts, so they decided to head into the ocean to investigate.

While nimbly organizing the gear, Lu Fan patiently advised An Lan: “This time we're going to explore further out. We must bring all the tools. Just in case something unexpected happens, we'll be prepared.”

After saying that, he carefully checked the sharp harpoon and the glinting dagger before securing them firmly on his back.

Then he tucked the Axe into his belt; sometimes in the wild, an Axe is more useful than a knife.

An Lan carefully selected several Baskets, thinking they might harvest something from the sea.

With everything ready, the two faced the morning sun and walked toward the beach with light steps.

The golden sunlight stretched their shadows long, and a trail of footprints of varying depths was left on the sand, as if telling the story of the wonderful adventure they were about to begin.

Along the way, they talked and laughed, full of anticipation for the upcoming ocean exploration.
